Can no longer play music through headphones

My iPhone will no longer play music (spotify, iTunes, radio, podcast) when using headphones. I recently upgraded to iOS 6.0.1

I would first treat it like a hardware issue, take a cotton swab and remove some of the cotton and stick it in the headphone jack to clear out any pocket lint that might be interfering with the connectivity of the headphones. If you are still having a problem I would contact Apple.

Here I come to save the daaaaaaaaaay!!!
Had the same issue with my Nissan Rogue 2011.
This listed below will fix it...
Go to General > Restrictions > CarPlay -- Make sure Carplay is DISABLED. (The new IOS 8 enables this on default)
Go to General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
The Nissan Rogue radio system was never designed to work with CarPlay. By default, CarPlay feature comes enabled when you install IOS 8. Suckz, right?
You're very welcome! Have a great day!

  • Headphone trouble: No longer playing music through headphones

    Hey guys!
I bought a used iPod touch several years ago just to have something to listen to music  that was easy to use.  It has worked fine for me until now.  I cannot get it to connect to my headphones.  Everything else on the iPod works fine: Apps, wi-fi, mail, photos, music, etc.  It even still plays music and sound through the speaker. But when I plug my headphones in nothing happens. It still just plays through the speaker.  I tried switching headphones to a new pair, tried plugging it into my cable to play through my car speakers, and even tried resetting everything.  Still nothing. It's like it no longer has headphone capability.  I'm thinking it might just be something internal...But any other ideas or tips would be helpful.  I'm trying to avoid buying a new one as long as possible since I just started a new job and am still trying to pay for school. But I am willing to try anything to get my music back.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

  • Can no longer play music through my car

I recently purchased a 2010 Cadillac SRX. It had a specific usb for an ipod. I would connect my iphone through this port and it would come up on the pop up display and allow me to selcet songs, etc. Now I decided to update my firmware to 4.0.1 and try to hook it up the same way and it does not recognize the media. Is there going to be an update to fix any issues such as this or will apple just say "its cadillac's problem now"?

The problem is not with your iPhone. Unfortunately, the SRX's software was designed "before" production of the new iPhone 4. These types of compatibility issues are not unique to the iPhone. This is always a problem whenever new cell phones come out. The only solution is for Cadillac to update the software in the SRX. With the popularity of the iPhone, this is likely to happen. The question is when. I would suggest you report the problem to Cadillac Customer Assistance (800-458-8006).

  • Updated to iTunes 7 and can no longer play music off my iPod through iTunes

The title says it all. I can no longer play music from my iPod through iTunes now that I have upgraded. When I click on my iPod there is a little black lock beside where it shows the disk usage.
anyone have any ideas. I like some of the new features of this version of iTunes but it really seems to be a few steps backwards.

That little lock usually indicates that the iPod is set to autosync. In order to play iPod content through iTunes, you have to be on manual sync.

  • Iphone 5c with iOS8 no longer plays music through cadillac cue

iphone 5c with iOS8 no longer plays music through cadillac cue

Thanks for the the reply Jeff.
Actually I misstated my initial question.  The iPhone works fine through the bluetooth connection to Cadillac CUE but it does not function when tethered. If I use the voice command in the car to play music, CUE recognizes the request, loads the selection and then freezes.  I can see the album cover on the screen and the player control loads but the music does not start.  After a short period, CUE flashes UNKNOWN ALBUM, UNKNOWN ARTIST. it took a while for me to understand the complexities of the CUE and iPhone voice command interaction but just when I had it worked out, the update to iOS8 killed it again.
I seem to recall having a similar problem when the first version of iOS 8 came out. The first update solved the problem, but the latest update has created the problem again.
Any thoughts? Are others having this same difficulty?

  • ITunes says I have authorized five computers so I can no longer play music I have purchased. I have not replaced my computer once. Why does iTunes say this?

iTunes says I have authorized five computers so I can no longer play music I have purchased. I have not replaced my computer once. Why does iTunes say this?

    Hey Christownsend,
Thanks for the question. To troubleshoot this issue, you may want to try deauthorizing all computers:
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
To deauthorize all computers associated with your Apple ID
If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
    1. Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
    2. If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
    3. Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
    4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than two authorized computers. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/).
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • My ipod fourth generation only play music through headphones cant play on it's internal speaker

my ipod fourth generation only play music through headphones cant play on it's internal speaker

    - Insert/remove the headphne plug a dozen times or so. Clean out/blow out the headphone jact.
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. You likey have a bad headphone jack.

  • Since upgrading my iPhone 4 to IOS6 it no longer plays music through the Apple Dock

Since I have upgraded my iPhone 4 to IOS 6 it no longer plays music through the Apple Dock.
The dock still charges the phone, no error messages appear on the screen when I connect it but when trying to play music the sound just comes out of the speakers on the phone and not through the connected dock.
I have obviously tried a reset (power and home button together) as suggested for fixing other sound issues people seem to be experiencing but this made no difference.
    Any help would be appreciated!

Why would there be a fix?  YOU are having the problem.  I'm not, no one I know is having the problem.  No fix is needed.
Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.  Have you been through any, if not all of these troubleshooting steps yet?

  • Can no longer play music that I previously purchased

After performing the iTunes and Quicktime upgrades last night, I discovered today that I can no longer play songs that I previously downloaded from the music store. I also cannot preview any songs in the music store, and I'm assuming that if I actually tried to purchase a song that it also wouldn't work. When I try to play a song from my iTunes library that I previously purchased, a window comes up saying that "this computer is not authorized to play this song" and requires me to enter my password. After I do that, it generally comes up with a message saying that machine authorization is successful, and that I have 2 machines authorized, although it requires me to do this every time I try a different song. After the supposed successful authorization, it starts "accessing the music store" (which makes no sense to me since these songs have been in my own library for over a year) and ultimately comes back with different error messages, including "We couldn't complete your music store request...The music store is temporarily unavailable" or just simply "there was an error in the music store" or "an unknown error occurred." The error numbers vary - 5555, 403, etc. Why is it even trying to access the music store when these are songs that are sitting in my own library?! Now iTunes is simply closing unexpectedly. I know I'm not the only one (to say the least) having problems, and I hope someone figures it out soon since we all have hundreds of dollars worth of music on our computers that we can't listen to. Unfortunately, I plugged my iPod in today to update it, and I'm scared to even find out what's been erased from it.

    Alli hello,
    Quit iTunes...
Download Cocktail and start the program... click on the 'interface' Icon and tick 'Show Invisible Items' then click the Restart button...
In a finder window click on the Icon that is your Boot Volume in the Side Bar ... select users ... select shared folder ... select the folder named 'SC info' and put it in the trash and empty it ... Do Not touch any other file.
Pathway looks like this HD > users > shared > SC info > SC Info.sidb
Go back to the Cocktail 'interface' window and untick Show Invisible Items and click restart .. quit Cocktail.
Start iTunes after deletinng this folder and it will prompt you to enter your authorization information again ... see now if your problem still exists...
Let's know how you get on Alli ... take care ... TP

  • BB will no longer play music through external headset or external speakers

Suddenly I found I was no longer able to play music through any external speaker or headset on my BB Torch. No one seems to be able to solve problem. BB Replaced but same problem. Complete factory reset solves problem but as soon as anything is restored, problem returns. Interestingly, if I make a call the headset works fine. If I play music, go to menu and try to 'activate headset' I get new window with headset and red dot on it. Coupled with this problem I notice if I go to 'set-up' and select 'email accounts' it will not open. I have had to activate all my accounts via my laptop. Anyone any ideas!

I have the same problem. Just started yesterday.  I have owned two blackberry's and i'm beginning to think that they are a bet overrated.

  • How to play music through headphones Macbook speakers AT SAME TIME

I have a macbook using OS 10.4 and I have been listening to music. I want to hear my music through the internal speakers and through headphones at the same time.
The reason is... I like to sing to my music. But it sounds odd for others around if they can't hear. So I need to play it out loud. However, there are certain times (like right now) when there is too much background noise for me to hear my music well and I'd like to be able to drown it out. So I want to hear the music through my headphones. While still having it come out the speakers.. so those round hear it too.
There really should be a way to do this, and I don't see why there wouldn't be. If there is a logical reason why one can't do this, then please inform me. If you know fo a way to accomplish it, then tell me please!

I'm looking for a similar capability except by using software only.
I want to be able to get sound from a single application out to two
    or more audio-output devices.
Is there any third-party software available to do this?
As an aside, MacOS almost lets one do this now with the existing
audio plumbing capability, but it comes up just short of being
    able to do it.
Thanks for any third-party software pointers or suggestions.
    Dave

  • After upgrading to iOS 7, my phone will no longer play music through my uconnect car audio, even after re-pairing... any ideas?

I have a 2012 jeep and my 4s was perfect for playing music from my phone.  After upgrading to iOS 7, the uconnect no longer will play music thru the bluetooth...  The phone works fine and I have re-paired the device to the uconnect, but it still doesn't work.  Any ideas or settings that I can change on the phone?  Uconnect basically says that it is, what it is.. they cant change the settings on the stereo....  HELP!

In my Sync vehicle, I had to "forget" the SYnc connection in the iPhone Bluetooth settings, then go into the car menu and delete the bluetooth device from the vehicle's system. Once I re-paired from scratch, it has been working fine. Give that a try. If not, try removing the connection from both sides again, then Reset Network Settings from the General Settings before re-pairing.
