Can no longer print PDFs in Safari, or open one in Firefox

A couple of days ago I had no trouble printing a PDF which was open in a Safari window. Now when I have a PDF open in Safari and I try to print a page of it, the print window that appears shows a blank page, and if I click Print, the paper comes out blank. I tried opening the same PDF in Firefox and the window itself is blank. It works in Chrome. Any suggestions or a cure would be most appreciated. Thank you.
Cheers, Peter

Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
ls -1A {,~}/Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins 2> /dev/null
Post any lines of output that appear below what you entered — the text, please, not a screenshot.

  • I can no longer print PDF files that were scanned with the very same MX479 on Windows XP, SP3

I can no longer print PDF files that were scanned with the very same MX479 All-in-One.
I have an (obsolete) Windows XP, SP3 computer.  Obviously, no updates from Microsoft
have occurred that might have impacted my Canon Pixma MX479.
When I attempt to send 1 or more pages from a PDF file to the printer, I don't even get the
Canon PIXMA popup that would allow me to cancel the print job.
Yet the Print Queue icon appears in the lower right corner of my monitor.
If I view the Print Queue, the print queue shows "spooling" and does nothing more.
If I attempt to CANCEL the print job in the Print Queue, it simply changes to "deleting -
    spooling".
I cannot cancel the print job that shows NOT RESPONDING via Task Manager, either.
In fact, the only way the Print Queue icon disappears is if I totally reboot my computer!
"Luckily", I can still print e-mails, Word documents, and even my downloaded PDF of my
    bank statement.
So, I was thinking that it was *only* PIXMA'S OWN SCANNED PDFS that could not be
printed ON THE SAME PIXMA 479.
However, I have since realized that I also cannot print USPS Signature Proof of Delivery
PDFs that I received from USPS via e-mail.
So why can I print *some* PDF files, but not *all* PDF files, like I previously could do?
THESE SCANS ARE OF LEGAL DOCUMENTS, SO I WILL LIKELY HAVE TO E-MAIL
THE REQUISITE, PREVIOUSLY SCANNED PDFS TO FEDEX TO PAY FOR *THEM*
    TO PRINT THEM.
NOTE: I *have* tried turning the PIXMA off, unplugging it, rebooting the computer, plugging
the PIXM in and restarting the PIXMA - still no ability to print PIXMA-scanned PDFs.
And, I find it very strange that e-mails, Word documents, and some other PDFs print with
no problem "around" "NOT RESPONDING" PIXMA print jobs.
I have owned Canon printers for years, including the MX420, and the MX340.

There may be some security issues related to the USPS PDFs.

I can't help with the scan/print problem. You seem to have done everything I would try.
I don't know if maybe using a registry cleaner would help.

  • Can not longer print pdf from Acrobat Reader

All of a sudden I can no longer print pdf files to my printer.  It is shared by all the computers in our household and any time I try to print from any of the computers now, instead of printing it creates a prn file instead.  I can find no option in the printer properties where selecting or deselecting something to enable or disable printing to files.  All the systems are either MS Vista or Windows 7.  Though there are commands that allow sending a prn to a network printer, they require a named print server, which we don’t have on our peer-to-peer network.
It is interesting that I can create a pdf file in Photoshop on my system and it will print from Photoshop.  I can also print the “problematic” documents for Photoshop, which I only have on one system. But anything created in Acrobat will not print natively from Acrobat reader.

In the Print dialog click on Advanced, then uncheck Print to File.

  • Can no longer print PDF files on C310.

    Morning,
have a HP C310.  Used to work fine...  Frustratingly it no longer prints PDF files.
I've uninstalled everything and reinstalled it.
    Updated drivers.
Tried the print as an image.
    Prints other documents fine.
When I try and print a PDF file it seems like the printer is just ignoring the request.
Any further suggests before I through it out the window and buy a printer that works.....
    Thanks in advance,
    Daren

Hmm...  OK, I happen to have the same printer (on wireless LAN) and OS and it prints fine for me....
Are you printing from File, Print or from the printer icon?  I recall that Adobe applications may have their own version of what the default printer is.  If using the printer icon try instead with File, Print and make sure the c310 is selected as the printer.  Also check the Advanced settings in the print menu.  In my case all the boxes are unchecked (except the grayed-out selection for downloading Asian fonts in the postscript box).
One other thing to check would be to open the print spooler and then print a PDF and make sure that a print job does show up and then disappear from the spooler.

  • I can no longer print pdf files

When I select a PDF file to print
    First "Print to File" pops-up
Next "output file name" box opens
This all changed when I downloaded 8.1.2 . First all of 8.0 was not removed. I did that. I uninstalled 8.1.2 more than once. I even changed to firefox from IE 7.
I am not a computer person. I do need to be able to print pdf files
I will take any help. Keep it simple, please!
I use Windows XP Home sp2

I am a mac OS X 10.4.11 user and I have adobe acrobat 8 professional. Recently, I am unable to print pdfs. I can open them to read, but when I send them to the printer they won't print. The printer icon just jumps then nothing happens.
I tried switching printers, from a HP 990cse to a Cannon pixma iP4300 however that doesn't help either. Same result (or rather lack of results).
Any thoughts on what is wrong?
    Thanks

  • PLEASE HELP? Can no longer print PDFs after Mountain Lion update?

I have a ton of labels to print though Ebay, but I've tried everything?
I am able to print in any other file formet just fine. When I try to print PDF, it either prints VERY faded or acts like it's printing, but nothing is showing up on the page. I am so frustrated. I've been dealing with this for 2 days!
I am not tech savvy, so if there is a dumbed down way you can help me with this ASAP, I would be so grateful! Ebay buyers can be rutheless if packages are not sent quickly, so the sooner the better.

  • UPGRADED TO ADOBE 11.0.06 AND CAN NO LONGER PRINT PDF'S RUNNING WINDOWS 64 BIT.  SAME ON 2 LAPTOPS

When i hit print a pdf document since i upgraded , no document goes to my printer Q...nothing happens?
    Any fixes?
Same is hapening on my wifes computer.

Wow! At least it's not just me!
I've been trying to do various tests, and now my results are a bit different:
    Going off Candace's notes:
    1) Doesn't work for me. This is what I used to do and want to do again: create a PDF from any application by clicking Print (eg, the Print link on web page) or pressing command-P. No file is created now.
    2) I didn't even know this option existed. It worked for me, but I don't want to print my documents there. I want to be prompted for a name and folder of my choosing in the dialog box.
    3) Oddly, this morning after reading Candace's response, I now only get prompted with one dialog box, not two. Again, I don't want to do this. I want it to work as before where after invoking Print I would be offered a dialog box asking me what to name the file and in which folder to create it.
Thanks, Candace! I appreciate your post!

  • Can no longer view pdf files in Safari

Adobe viewer installed. Was working okay. Upon first "download" of pdf file, had pop-up window to locate Adobe Reader application. Then pdf files were opened in Safari with Adobe Reader controls across the top of the Safari window.
For no apparent reason, can no longer view pdf in Safari. The URL for the pdf file appears in the Safari URL, but the Safari window is blank. No pop-up window to locate Adobe Reader application during first "download" of pdf file. Safari Help --> Installed Plug-ins shows Adobe Reader for pdf. Can download pdf file by highlighting URL and then pressing Option-Return.
Only change the previous day was update of Mac software which included a security upgrade and other software upgrades.

If the previous Safari suggestion doesn't work try the following:
In Finder, go to Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins and move AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin to the Disabled Plug-ins Folder.  Restart Safari.  If this works you may just want to delete that FUBAR plug-in.
Thanks.  This was the solution for me.

I can no longer print any document in PDF format. Not sure why? When I try to print, the document saves to my hard drive as a PDF and will not allow me to print? Never had this issue before. Any thoughts?

Print to file is in the main print dialog (on Acrobat 9.x) as opposed to under Advanced
