Can no longer print to a Samsung CLP-310 laser printer since upgrade to LR 4.3

Sometimes I need to print a draft photo to the Samsung for various reasons. I have had this printer for 4 years and never had a problem printing from LR until now. The printer will go on, go through its cycles and then shut completely off and then come back on and eject a blank sheet. I can print from any other program including photos from Aperture without any issues. Only since LR-4 had I had this issue.
I tried many settings such as smaller scale pictures, draft mode, etc., to ensure I was not exceeding the Samsung printer's parameters. Again, this printer worked since Lightroom Beta. LR-4 prints great photos to my Epson inkjet printer w/o any problems. Any ideas what changed? Thanks! Andy

I should probably rephrase my question:
Has anyone had a printer of any kind that worked fine until the latest LR version and were you able to fix it without resorting to printer specific methods (drivers, etc.)? If yes, what adjustment did you make to correct this? If there is one, it might be universal.... thanks!
My computer is an iMac... thanks!

how to install a samsung clp 310 driver in the time capsule ?

You do not install the printer driver on the Time Capsule, you install it on your Mac.
Check with Samsung Support for details on how to download and install the driver to your Mac.
Then use System Preferences > Print & Scan to see if your printer is compatbile. Not all printers are compatible with the USB port on the Time Capsule, so if your printer does not appear, it ls likely not compatible for this purpose.

  • Samsung ML-2010 Laser printer not working

I just hooked up my new 802.11n Airport Extreme base station, and I can't get my samsung ML-2010 laser printer working with it. The Airport Utility recognizes the printer, and bonjour installs the printer on the windows machines, but when I go to print, nothing happens. Is there a list of compatible printers for the 802.11n base station?

iFelix has started a list. Since the device has been in the wild only a few weeks the number of user experiences with varied printers is still small.

can anyone recommend a Multi-function black and white laser printer for that works with Mountain Lion?
The MFP can be either 3-in-1  or 4-in-1 i.e with fax

I bought an epson xp650 a couple of months ago and cannot fault it. It does everything I require and it is the wifi model so I can print directly from my ipad/iphone. Not sure if you are asking about the colour of the unit or just to be able to print black and white, Obviously all printers will print black and white but just to give you a little more info the printer I bought is the white version and it looks really nice sat next to my imac 27''
    Hope this helps.

  • Having trouble printing to a DELL 3130cn color laser printer

I have problem printing to a DELL 3130cn in a LAN since upgrading to OSX 10.7. Apple and Dell can't help and no driver upgrade expected unless there are enough people with same issue. Can anyone help or have a work around? Sometimes if I wait for 5 minutes or more before I press PRINT button, it magically worked. But not always.

In order to change the driver to a Generic PPD, just open the printer proxy (go to System Preferences > Print & Scan, then double click on your printer.)
In the Printer Proxy window, click Printer Setup, and in that pane, select Driver. Change the driver to a Generic PPD (you should have one available in the drop-down.)

  • Duplex printing on a Samsung CLP-550n

I'm running a MacBook Pro with Leopard and have been printing (one-sided) quite happily to our networked Samsung CLP-550n. But, I can't print duplex, the option is greyed out in the printer dialogue box yet from other macs around the office its possible? The default on the printer is set to long-edge binding duplex printing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Alright, it really was a coincidence. However, the printer is using up way too much toner, the text is all blurry. I've already lowered the quality to draft, but it's not enough.
This printer is known to use a lot of toner, but not that much. I had to adjust some settings under Windows, too, to reduce the consumption, but it wasn't so bad that the writing was blurry. And I can only adjust the quality in Linux, I didn't find any other options to play with.

  • Samsung clp 315 not printing with os 10.5.8

i have a samsung clp printer that i bought with my mbp a year and a half ago. after working nearly flawlessly for all this time, suddenly i'm having problems printing. nothing shows up in the print que after i sent it and of course nothing prints. i have re-installed both the drivers and the printer itself many times and i still can't print. i don't have access to printing on my campus because my tech support "doesn't support macs" and my mbp is apparently incompatible with every single printer on campus and the whole system. my printer is conected through my time capsule, which i connect to my mbp via ethernet cable. the wireless stopped working when i upgraded to the 1tb model. previously this configuration worked great. even when i directly connect my printer to my mbp i cannot print. are there any fixes yet??? i would happily roll back to a previous version if the issue is the latest update, however i have no idea how to do this. i purchased a mac because "it just works" and am afraid of messing something up. can anyone help!!?? i have stuff that needs to be printed for school and i'm at a total loss.

I have the same issue. The current Samsung print driver has a bug whereby it will not print a document if the application from which you are printing is different from the application you used last time you printed. The workaround is to restart the printer whenever it does this. I have written to Samsung about this.

  • Samsung CLP-550N wont print...

I have 3 printers installed (all network printers) and two of them work perfectly.
The third one is a Samsung CLP-550N (PostScript, connected via Ethernet). It prints fine when accessed from other (Windows) computers in the net.
On my MacBookPro, the print queue goes to "stopped" immediately after sending any print job, no matter which application it was sent from. Clicking "Continue printing" has no effect. Printing the same Documents on one of the other printers installed works fine.
    What I could figure out:
    - It makes no difference if the printer is installed as Bonjour-Printer, as IPP-Device or as LPD-Device)
    - It makes no difference if the Driver provided from www.samsung.com or the "Generic PostScript Printer" Driver is used.
    - Reinstalling the Printer has no effect
    - Resetting the printing system has no effect (including all the hints like deleting preference files as seen on this forum)
    Any ideas?
    Thanx, Chris.
    MacBookPro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I just got the answer from another discussion. Paul Hillman received a response from Samsung and the solution worked for me. Search the discussions for "Printing jobs stops after installing Tiger, Samsung CLP-550N" or read on:
From Paul, "I just got a note back from Samsung in one day. If the printer is hooked up via ethernet, and the postscript driver is installed, go to system prefs/ printers and fax, add printer (the '+' button), choose IP icon at top, protocol choose LPD, put in the IP address of the printer, Lower down under print using: choose samsung, then the model number should show up, select it, hit the add button.
You can get the IP address from the printer's display (see manual) or if you installed the bonjour printer that stalls you can still hit the utility button in the set up printer window and print the NIC page.
    Worked for me."
I've only printed one page and haven't found any hickups yet; I will pray I don't. I contacted Samsung earlier today and haven't heard back. If they give me a more elegant solution, like a new driver, I will report back.

  • Samsung CLP-300 not printing

I recently had a problem printing from some programs (Adobe Acrobat being one) to my Samsung CLP-300 where the print queue would get to 95% and stop.
Sometime i would get a message saying rastertosec had crashed. Before this I did not seem to have a problem with this printer under Lion.
I found that one of the toner cartridges was almost empty and as soon as I replaced it the error completely disappeared!
The leason is when you have printer errors or problems with Samsung lasers check the toner level! It may save you a lot of wasted time!

FYI if you have an older Airport base station (802.11g) the firmware downgrade does not work.
I found some help in a product review and so far it seems to be working on my system (APX Base 802.11g with 5.7 firmware and APE with firmware 6.3 and CLP-310 attached to the APE)
    Here it is.
    1. Install the drivers and printer
    2. Plug the printer into the Airport and restart the airport.
    3. Open system preferences and click Print & Fax
    4. Select + to add another printer.
    5. Choose IP at the top.
    6. Under protocol select HP JetDirect
    7. Under address use your airports IP address and specify port 9101 i.e. 10.0.1.1:9100 (the IP address is found on the main window of the Airport Utility)
    8. Under name, name it anything you'd like.
    9. Under print using, choose select a driver to use and pick your print driver. If the drivers flash up and go away, choose it again and quickly type the first few letters of the print driver. Now scroll and select it.
    10. Click okay and test some prints. If it does not work, also follow the same steps, except try port 9101 instead of 9100.

  • I've installed a Belkin router and can no longer connect my MacBook to the HP Photosmart printer.

The MacBook connects to the web through the Belkin but not the printer HP Photosmart D110 [E17D6D]. In talking with the Belkin people they said I need to make sure the IP address is 192.168.2.1 but that's listed now as the Default Gateway. The present IP Address is 192.168.2.6. How do I update the primary IP Address on my printer?

    Lets try these steps first
You have been thorough with your previous steps. I would also try:
Print a network configuration page from the printer, see the link below for instructions.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02786894&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang...
Enter the IP Address into the address bar of an internet browser and press Enter, this should load a page about your printer.
    Click on the Network Tab.
Click on IPv4 under the Wireless section.
    Click on Manual Configuration.
Enter the same information as the Network Configuration page into IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway.
Enter the Default Gateway value into the Preferred DNS Server field and enter 8.8.8.8 into the Alternate DNS Server field.
I work for HP but my posts and replies are my own thoughts.

  • Can only print one copy at a time in AppleWorks since upgrading to Tiger

Since upgrading to Tiger 10.4.3, (now using version10.4.6) and AppleWorks 6.2.9, I cannot print more than one copy of my document using either of my Epson printers, a R200 and a C86. I did not have this problem with Panther and AW 6.
Apple techs said to reinstalled AW, did not help. Then did a complete archive and reinstall of Tiger, no help, then created a new preference folder, no help.
I found by trial and error that my Grammarian spell and grammar program by Linguisoft uses an input method to be active in order to correct AW documents. I sent them an email and their reply was, this is a bug in Mac OS X 10.4.x (all versions as of Nov, 2005) Specifically, if an input method is active, you will be unable to edit the number of copies or page range values in the dialog versions of Print and Page Setup. This is not a problem in the sheet versions of Print and Page Setup.
Certain older applications still use these dialogs (i.e., AppleWorks) instead of the more appropriate sheet equivalents. To clarify the difference, the sheet versions are "attached" to the actual document you are printing (take a look at, say, TextEdit), while the dialog versions appear modally in front of all document windows in applications that use them.
I wrote a three page letter to Apple and received a call from them, it seems that for now no upgrades to correct this problem is in the works, so for now I will have to make my corrections to all documents that I am working on, then change the input method in Grammarian and print my copies, then go back and make Grammarian active again.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem or am I the only one?

    Hello DaisyMay,
You're quite welcome. Very glad to hear it helped!
Yet I'd like to mention the true ones of merit are the contributors of the original Japanese thread. I've just summarized and translated a bit.
Regarding why it takes so long to fix this bug/flaw, I suspect that it is because it won't affect the majority of American users who do not use input method at all, and besides, it seemingly affects only Carbon API, that Apple Computer Inc. is liable to neglect lately.
However, input method is a vital piece in CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) languages, and any other languages that use more than 256 characters, and also quite a few Carbon applications are still in service, so for us (Japanese, e.g.), this bug/flaw is quite unacceptable.
It's new for me to know a non-CJK program, Grammarian, uses input method. Now I understand you'd see this bug/flaw unacceptable as well!
At least one of the contributors of Japanese thread said he let Apple Computer Japan know this problem via official telephone support channel. Also other said that Ergosoft Corp., the maker of EGWord, stated that this is a known-issue of OSX10.4 and they can do nothing but wait for Apple to fix it. Ergosoft has been specialized to Macintosh platform since 1984, so it's quite unlikely they had not reported this problem to Apple via developer channel.
After all, I think Apple knows this problem, whether a bug or a flaw.
Well, possibly, it might not be sufficient for an end-user to point out the problem via Apple's telephone support channel...
In such case, you may try this form -
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/
In my humble opinion, they should shortly fix this, and meanwhile they should promptly publish the user-proposed work-around methods as a Knowledge Base article.
    Have beautiful May,

  • Samsung ML1665/XEU Laser Printer or Software Problem

Some while ago for no apparent reason my printer started printing a series of large font commas down the left hand side of the page.  These are about 13mm in from the edge and about 23mm apart.   After another week another series of marks appeared.  These are only 3mm from the LH edge of the page and the same distance apart.  These look like headphones standing on their side (or an oval with a gap at the right hand side)
I've reinstalled the printer driver but it makes no difference.  I've called the Samsung helpline but they are baffled.   Could this be a problem with Mavericks and/or iWorks09 being incompatible with Samsung?  Unfortunately, I can't remember if the marks appeared after downloading these updates or not.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Ever since OSX 10.5 my printer options are either unavailable or ignored when I choose them. I can't select the second tray on my laser printer, it is grayed out. When I select landscape feed on my copiers it is ignored and I must feed the paper portrait direction.
There was a problem pre 10.5.2 that orientation and, I believe, the paper tray settings, were lost when printing to a windows shared printer. I am not sure if that is your setup, but your descriptions makes it sound like it might be.

  • I can no longer edit bookmark names in the little black window since a recent update.

A bookmark title can no longer be edited, or parts of it deleted, in the small black dialogue window that appears when creating a new bookmark. This has happened since a recent update July 2010 version 3.6.7 or 3.6.8

I have the same problem. It occurred 2 or 3 upgrades ago. Before that I could easily change the name of a bookmark within the dialog box. I now have to delete it entirely and then write in what I want. Needless to tell all of you, it's annoying! I'm running an imac 24 inch with 10.64 and the latest firefox 3.6.11.
Does anyone troll this site and tell the powers that be? Obviously we'd all like this fixed and it's not an isolated problem.

I used to be able to print html and pdf files to my laser printer when in Firefox, but now I get an alert that Firefox will crash. I check the box to send info to Firefox, but when I entered "about crashes" as suggested below, I got nothing but a 404 number showing and some text about not having information about crashes "on this server." Does anyone know of a fix for this?
