Can no longer save a new bookmark directly to one of my foldersin bookmarks w/o saving, then dragging it from recently bookmarked. Any way to go back to old style of brining up list of folders in the gray box when adding a new bookmark?
Until a recent update in Firefox, I could always save a new bookmark to the folder of my choice by using the drop down list in the gray box that comes up when I chose to bookmark a site. Now only a few of my folders - probably most recents - show up and I can't seem to access the whole list. I now have to go to "recently bookmarked" and drag the bookmark from there to the folder of choice. Any way to restore the ability to make it a one stop save to my folders like I used to? Thanks.
No, I see the three areas at the bottom of the Bookmark area that you refer to, but that also highlights an issue. When I want to save a story to my Reading List and click on Share then "Add to Reading List" then go back to look at what is stored in the Reading List, my recently-saved item is not there.
I looked thru the History tab and the Reading List tab and have been in the Bookmark tab. But even when I Save a Bookmark, that newly-saved Bookmark does not show up in the Bookmark area.
But then again, the next day (and actually just in the last half-hour) all of the functionality came back. When I look at the Bookmarks, suddenly, again, all of the Bookmarks that are on my Safari browser on my iMac are now there, and I can now Save a Bookmark.
It keeps coming in and out and that is what is driving me a little nuts.

My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

After installing Mavericks I can no longer save a new word document or pdf by typing the name of the destination folder in the Finder window. The save button greys out. Solutions anyone?
Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
This action will delete any custom Mail stationery that you have created. If you want to preserve it, ask for instructions.
If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -
Can someone help. I use Photoshop Elements 13. I can no longer save edited photos. get messages - "Nothing was imported" "The file or folders selected to import did not contain supported file type. It started this a couple of weeks ago and I had a friend come fix it just 2 days ago. It took him several hours and I lost all tags I had on over 10,000 pictures. Now it has done it again. When I add a new bookmark, and the (star) Page Bookmarked window appears - is there any way to expand the size of that window so that I can see my entire list of folders when adding a new bookmark to an existing folder? The endless scrolling technique is far too tedious when trying to add a new bookmark, because the window is simply too tiny. Is there maybe a plug-in that will let me grab the corner of that window and re-size it? Thanks!
I suggest you install the "Add Bookmark to Here2" extension, then you can expand the the list but you will not see the bookmark itself in the list if that is what you wanted. At the top you have three major folders you can select one of them and scroll up and down. Below that you have your most recently used folders and you can select one of them instead and scroll up and down. You can see the folder the bookmark is in -- they get added to the bottom
If you really want to see the bookmark within the folder the same extension allows you to bring the bookmark to the folder from say the bookmarks sidebar that is why it is named as such. I use it but mainly i use the dialog.

If you are not using tags at all, you can remove a whole lot of confusion by removing them from the dialog via the extension. -
I'm using a Mac / Leopard. Beginning about a month ago, I can no longer "save as" an image. The "Save Image As" menue comes up -- but then nothing. I can drag images onto the desktop, but that's it. I tossed out Firefox, and then downloaded it and reinstalled it, but have the same problem. (I couldn't figure out how to get rid of profiles and bookmarks -- so they remained). As I type this question on the Firefox website, I don't see the forum in front of me -- just a window to type a question. Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

After I installed the recent Apple security patch, I can no longer save PDFs when using Safari. And Firefox no longer can open website PDFs. Any suggestions?

I bought an Adobe writer program a few years ago,and have have had no problem saving information I've added to pdf forms. For some reason, I can no longer save the information that I've entered. In fact, I get a message that the information will NOT be saved. How can I correct this? Thanks!

Did you install new software or upgrade to newer versions? Which version of iPhoto are you using?
The "Save to iPhoto" feature has been missing for some iPhoto versions. I do not remember exactly when it vanished, but it is back with iPhoto 9,6 and MacOS X 10.10.2.
As a work-around - you can drag photo attacuments from your mail to the iPhoto icon in the Dock to save them to iPhoto. -

I can tell you that you were NEVER able to save the file. This is a Microsoft excel file (which we know because the extension is ".xls"). Numbers can open excel files then you can save the file as a Numbers file OR you can export the file back to excel using the menu item "File > Export To > Excel..."
Did you create the file in Excel? If so you can continue to edit the file in excel. If you double clicked the file and it opened in Numbers then you need to answer the question which application do you want to use (Numbers or Excel)? -

When I sync my phone I get my husband's phone contact list, apps, etc and the same happens when he syncs his phone. It does recognize our phones as different users so how can I stop this from happening when we sync?
Did you tick the box in iTunes to sync with the Mac address book? Are you using the same user account on your Mac, with the same contacts in the same address book?

how do you shuffle the image order when creating a new slideshow in apterture 3? i would like to do this automatically when creating a new slideshow. i see how you do it with presets when you just play a slideshow, but i don't see an option to randomly shuffle the slide order when you create a new slideshow. i know you can sort it by different fields, but i want it to be random. thanks.
If you want to rearrange images in random order you can try an AppleScript:
retrieve a list of selected images from Aperture
shuffe the list properly
create an album in Aperture and add the images from the list to the album (make sure that the album set to be orederd manually)
