Can no longer see text messages on iMessage

Hi,
As of this week, I can no longer see my text messages on my laptop (OS 10.10.2). My iPhone (8.1.3) gets texts, and in the settings for Messages, the only forwarding device is my iPad. I can't add a device here for some reason. Any ideas?

The Fact the iPad can do it suggests the Apple ID is active on the iPhone.
It hints that the Messages app and the iMessages account on the Mac are not logged in (despite what the app might tell you).
Can you set the iPhone to Send from it's own Number.
Can you then send an iMessages to the Apple ID ?
Does it arrive on the Mac ?
If you deselect the iPhone Number on the Mac can you send from the Apple ID to the iPhone Number ?
I would try using the Sign Out button on the Mac and then Quirt the app before adding back the password and re-enabling the Account on starting it up again.

We are suffering very similar issues when communicating from my iphone to a friend who has both iphone and iPad enabled.
As long as I reply to an existing text chain, then it is visible on the target iphone. If I SMS the phone number, it gets routed to the IPAD!! And NO, I should not have to disable imessage when I want to send an SMS!!

Why can't I forward text messages using iMessage to my email address?

I recently upgraded my cell phone to an iPhone 5s. I'm using iMessage and am unable to forward text messages to my email address. Sometimes they deliver fine but on the whole they won't go through to my email. Can anyone tell me why? Or what I can do to get them to forward? Thank you!

Do you just mean while you are in the car? Or do you mean while you're connected to a system in the car? What happens when you try? Have you consulted your dealer to make sure you have the most up-to-date firmware on your car system?

Can no longer send text messages to recipients in ...

When I create text messages in Ovi Suite, I am no longer able to send them to recipients added from my address book. When I add a recipient, and try to send the message, I get a window that says "Recipient not valid". The numbers in my address book entries are in the format 1234-5678 (eight digits, with a hyphen in the middle). Now I have to write down the number in the address book and type in the long, international format, such as +50612345678. (506 is my country's code.) Essentially, my address book is now useless, and creating SMS's in Ovi Suite now includes a very annoying step.
This problem started sometime in the last couple of months. I don't know which was the last version that allowed me to use numbers from my address book without complaining. (My current version is 3.1.1.85, and it displays the message "Recipient not valid. Recipient 1234-5678 is not valid. Cannot send the message." Other than upgrading Ovi Suite, I haven't changed any settings. Is there a setting I need to change? (If not, I'd argue that this is a recent design error in Ovi Suite, one that I hope Nokia fixes soon.)

After updating to iOS 7 I can no longer receive text messages.

I can send text messages but I am not receiving responses even though the received confirmed they responded. I am also not receiving text messages initiated by anyone else. Problem did not exist prior to the update. Contact list has not changed and all contact #s are 10 digit. I can still view have all messages sent and received prior to the update. I'm having the identical problem on my iPhone 4 after upgrading to IOS 7--no ability to update apps or download new apps. Here is what Apple tech support emailed to me:
I understand that you are unable to download or update applications after updating iOS7 on your iTunes. I know you must be eager to get this resolved and I will be happy to help you today.

Mildly amusing that the instructions for force-closing a program are the IOS 6 instructions, which do not work on IOS 7.
Otherwise I'm having a little success with this. Some apps (not all) are updating. It seems that a few more apps update each time I go through the process (close everything, sign out, and either reset or reboot, then go to the app store, sign in and try to update all). So far it has been a very lengthy, iterative process.

Can no longer see text on last 10 pages of screenplay. It was visible before.

I have a screenplay that is about 125 pages in length. I originally wrote it in story.adobe.com free edition. I noticed that the last 10 pages of text are invisible, but the headings are intact so it appears that the text is somewhere inside.
I upgraded to the subscription server Story Plus and I'm wondering if there might be a way to make that text visible again.

You have some sort of issue with the external drive, I would use a powered USB hub first if it's not self powered.
Next I would be looking at purchasing software to direct recover your files from the 1's and 0's of the bits themselves on the external drive as it appears your directory or something is hosed.
Software that comes to mind is DataRescue $99 which you can download and test first before buying, then send the recovered files to another blank external drive.
Once you've got your files recovered, then your all set to mess around and experiment.
Try to access the files with the program version that originally created them, I'm not all that up to speed on iMovie, but I do know there are issues with using older Apple software versions with newer version altered files.

Can no longer see email message content after upgrading to ios 6

Since upgrading to iOS 6, my email loads (from three different email accounts), but when I click on an individual message the content of the message doesn't show, only the Subject line. If I click "reply" the content of the message appears. Anyone else having this issue?

Same issue here. Tried "Reset Network Settings", reboot, Airplane mode on/off, and turned off 3G.
also noticed when I dial someone from iPhone4 it defaults to speaker phone. I did check voice control and Shazam to make sure it wasnt the microphone malfunctioning and both those apps work fine.

Not only can i not see the individual chaptes -- apparently like you and everyone else suffering through the "improved" iOS7 -- when my audiobook repeats a "file" within chapter, which it sometimes does, I cannot get "inside" the chapter and move forward to where I'm supposed to be.

First of all, there is no need to put the entire text of your post into the title of your thread.
Next, does your daughter have an iPhone? Do her friends have iPhones? If the answer to both questions is "yes", then it is possible she is not texting them, but using iMessage to communicate with them. iMessages will not show up in the texting traffic on a line as they are not texts, but messages sent thru Apple's servers.
For all "texts" to show up in the texting activity of an iPhone, you must disable iMessage on the device. Any messages sent as iMessages(blue bubbles around the text) on an iPhone will not show up in any texting activity.

Its really annoying that on 2.1 you can no longer see who has texted unless you open the SMS screen. Another backward step, along with the dreadful battery life, rubbish camera etc etc

Indeed, and if my memory serves me right this feature was requested by many users. I agree, Apple has a lot of things to do (MMS, more configuration for message alerts etc) but I don't think they should be criticized when they finally do listen to users. (Such as the OP did.)

Can no longer see old or saved messages in iphone mail inbox

I updated my phones software yesterday upon request and now i can no longer see old or saved messages in my inbox. I can see the n ew ones when they arrive, and this problem is restricted only to the inbox as i can see messages in the junk and sent folders fine.
Hope someone can help!

Try a reset of the device by pressing and holding the home and power button for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.

Over the summer I bought iOS5 from a developer and had it on my phone for about a month until it crashed and I had to restore from a backup. So I put iOS5 back on my phone, and it crashed it again. I decided to wait until yesterday to put it back on, because it was legit and through Apple. Now I can't receive normal text messages from non-iPhone users. I'm only receiving iMessages. The only way to fix it is to turn off iMessage, but that's one of the main features of the update. Help?

i may put my iphone in the toaster tonight i am so $%#@!*^ frustrated.
i have an iphone 4 which i upgraded to ios5 about 4 days ago. yesterday, i realized i wasn't able to receive any text messages, but was (and am still getting imessages), along with the ever-so-vague 'sms mailbox is full, delete some text messages' alert.
so i came to the internet to find out about the supposed 15mb (75k*) limit. Apple's solution on their own site was 'hey, crazy hoarder, why don't you delete some texts?? there you go, EASY PEAZY!' except that didn't work...for me, and a ton of other people apparently.
i came down from 76something to around 67k.
I hard restarted, i ignored it, i deleted more texts, i bought phoneview, i deleted MORE texts, more restarts, NOTHING. it has now been 48 hours with no texts. NEED I ASSURE YOU THAT I AM A VERY IMPORTANT PERSON (as we all are).
so i backed up my phone (again, as i did before the upgrade), and restored it to factory nothingness. restart. restart. stare blankly. no texts.
then, i go to restore from backup (via itunes) so i can at least get all my contacts and whatnot back. lo and behold, my backup is gone. only the option to set up my 'new' iphone. i delay utter panic for a brief second and silently pray to the angel steve, sitting upon his giant white icloud, remembering that i actually paid for extra icloud space and backed up to that as well.
now i'm just waiting for it to restore AT LEAST my contacts, which it now seems to have done by the time i've typed this. PARTIAL crisis averted.
alas, i STILL am not getting any text messages. it seems that calling apple does nothing since apparently no one was told about this and/or how to fix this. i cannot receive text messages from my boyfriend, my parents, my colleagues who all are iphoneless and better off than me at this point.
i am leaving for a business trip in 12 hours. i'd like to figure this out before i put this thing in the garbage disposal or violently smash and use it's parts as confetti. although by the time i do, i will probably have lost all my friends and been disowned by my family for ignoring their jokes / emoticons / cries for help.
i fear apple has become a sentient being, and this is it's way of forcing all people of earth to use iphones...for there will be no other way to communicate with each other once we evolve and are all born with giant thumbs instead of vocal chords...hold me im scared...

Yeah sorry we both have the same carrier and as far as I know, no she is not holding down the home button. Does that make a difference?
