Can no longer send mail from exchange account

My send mail icon is now greyed out and I can no longer send mail. The only thing that I have done that I never do is I selected the "synchronize" option on the mailbox name after right clicking on it last night.
As far as Mail goes, I attempted to set up a MediaCom email box several days ago that never worked correctly, but I changed no settings on the exchange account and it was working great 24 hours ago. I've deleted the MediaCom email box.
Tried the usual quitting, rebooting but nothing is working, any ideas why this started and how to fix.

It is possible the Evil Starbucks empire has blocked SMTP sending as an antispam measure. You would need to log in to your email server using the smtpauth protocol. For example, Earthlink has an smtpauth.earthlink.net server for secure sending, which I was able to use sending from any public AP. Possibly T-Mobile has a similar authorized server.
But nowadays I just use Gmail, they make it easy and reliable to send from anywhere because they use a custom smtp port. Yeah, Gmail solved a multitude of problems with mobile sending.

  • Can no longer send email from my accounts but can receive

I have 5 email accounts set up on my imac. 3 are mine 2 are my partners. I can no longer send emails from my accounts but my partner still can. They all still receive mail but when I attempt to send mail I get:-
    Cannot Send Message Using Server
Then i'm asked to select a different server from a list. I have tried all but to no avail.
I first of all deleted my partners sky.com account because it appeared to me that this was maybe overiding all other accounts and it was no longer needed on imac.
I then deleted one of my accounts - hotmail, to see if i added it again maybe it would work but now I cant even re add the mail account as everytime i go to mail, preferences account to set it up again the initial screen comes up with my partners details including the sky.com username and when i overwrite these and try to install hotmail acount I get told that logging in failed check user name and password is correct. Which they are.
All used to work fine but now I have these problems, they appeared to have started when my partner set up an icloud account and is synching with this - could this be the cause?
I can send email from my accounts from iphone still but no longer from imac.

    First,
I'd run all availiable software updates. After that, I would try removing all of the accounts from "Mail", and then re-adding them. Be aware that if your folders and such are located on your mac, and not on the mail servers, you may risk lose some information (always have a back-up).
Sometimes, when you have a number of e-mail account there can be server issues abound. I would go into the server lists and make sure that they are set properly. If you see the "use only this server" box, check it for each of them.

  • I can no longer send mail from my gmail account on my iPad.

I can send mail from my iPhone just fine so it isn't gmail. I deleted the gmail app and reinstalled it; restarted my iPad; and checked the settings. My wifi is working as is evidenced by the fact that I wrote and posted this from my iPad with no problems. Anyone have an idea of how to fix this?

  • Can no longer send mail from other apps

    Problem:
If I go into any app (other than Mail) and try to send a message (via email) and I either get nothing or some apps will say that "Mail needs to be configured in order to do this."  After doing a restore on my iPod touch (4th Gen., running the latest iOS5) I had only configured a few accounts under "Mail, Contacts, Calenddars", and *was* able to send mail from other apps just fine.  Now that I have 13 accounts I cannot; not only is Mail configured and working fine (by itself,) but I now only have one account with "Mail" activated, and it is indeed set as the "default account" in Settings anyhow.  This is frustrating since some apps depend on email to let me export its data but is also a nuisance since it makes it more difficult for me to share content with others.
Has anyone encountered this bug and/or have a tip?

  • Can't get/send mail from MobileMe account

Suddenly, my mail app does not download mail to my MobileMe account, or send from it. All my other accounts from different suppliers work normally. I can see the mail sitting on my MobileMe page (via Safari) but the spinning cog wheel just goes round and round - on both inbox and Sent.
I've restarted, repaired permissions, removed the account from preferences and re-installed it, but it makes no difference. Any ideas?

Well, I wouldn't jump into that just yet. Others may have suggestions for you to try.
Select the moble me account in the inbox and try rebuilding the mailbox under the mailbox menu. See if that does anything.
Also, check server and port setting and compare to the one still working on your laptop.
At some point in time, I assume MMe will not be configurable under a regular account, but will all be intergrated fully into iCloud. Have you considered just signing into iCloud and using it that way? When doing so, it will create the account in your Mail application as long as you're signed in.
One word of caution: when signing into iCloud, be careful what you select to use. If you select calendars, it will upload your calendar info into iCloud and delete the information locally from the computer. Your calendar information won't be available on your computer when you sign out. Address book gives you the option to keep local contacts on your computer when signing out.
I also tried to add a mobile me account outside of iCloud to test, but it keeps setting me up to the iCloud IMAP account. The account disappears from mail when you log out. So, it won't let me set it up as a POP account. I've tried to set it up in the past using the older settings before iCloud, but wasn't successful. Maybe I had the wrong settings. Not sure what MMe was using last.

  • Can No Longer Send Mail From Multiple Addresses.

Any help appreciated. I have been using multiple email addresses to send and receive mail through my POP account with Macmail without any problem but all of a sudden this has stopped working on all but my initial account. If I try to send a mail I just get a drop down error message stating:
"This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
Verify that you have addressed this message correctly. Check your SMTP server settings in Mail Preferences and verify any advanced settings with your system administrator."
    Anybody got any ideas??
    Many thanks in advance.

    Have you changed ISPs lately?
Has your ISP changed it's rules for passing Mail through? Many do change the Port & Authentication to do so... and rarely notify their paying customers... go figure that one!?

  • I can no longer send emails from my mac yahoo business account, but can send them directly from yahoo. just not from mac mail. I've been able to send emails perfectly fine until today. Help!

I can no longer send emails from my mac yahoo business account, but can send them directly from yahoo. just not from mac mail. I've been able to send emails perfectly fine until today. I've been on the phone with yahoo mail and they've verified that my account settings are correct and I can send email from yahoo. I can receive emails via Mac mail, but just can't send them. An error message appears that says:
"Sending the message content to the server failed." I can't send emails from my Mac desktop, iphone or ipad. Any suggestions! Help! I'm a Mac rookie and so frustrated! Thanks.

Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.

  • Can no longer send mail - strange errors/activity

I'm hoping a guru can help me. This is driving me insane. My mail has worked perfectly for years. Over the past 2 days, it can no longer send mail. I can recieve, but not send.
It first began with error messages saying that it couldn't use Port 25. My ISP doesn't block this port, so I tried using four other mail servers from other email accounts. Again, all give the same error. Now when I try to send a message, they just sit in my out box. When I try to resend, it does nothing. The activity monitor quickly states "Copying message to outbox". That's it.
I'm at a loss. Any help is really appreciated.

Ignore this message, I JUST WORKED IT OUT.
It looks like there is another unsecure wireless network in our building and for some reason my Powerbook defaulted to using that, rather than my own wireless account.
So with this other connection I could surf/recieve but I couldn't send out.
The variables never cease to amaze me.

  • I can no longer send email from my iPad, any suggestions?

I Can no longer send email from my iPad, error message said 'outgoing mail name or password incorrect', does anyone know a fix for this problem?

Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

  • Cannot Send mail from AOL account through Entourage

I have an AOL e-mail account and use the Entourage application to send and recieve e-mail. As of lately I can only receive mail, but can no longer send mail. I keep getting the error in Entourage "Connection to the server failed or was dropped". I have read every help article out there on this subject and have tried just about everything. Here is how I have Entourage currently set up:
    IMAP server: imap.aol.com
    SMTP server: smtp.aol.com
*I am using port 587 for the outgoing server and have authenticated it using my account ID and password.
If anyone else is having this problem or knows how to fix it please help!

it may be that your server (internet provider) has just started blocking outgoing mails not authenticated by them.
Go to your account set up...
and fill in the following details.
    SMTP SERVER: smtp.mac.com
then click on advanced sending otions...
click on override default SMTP port... type 587
click on SMTP servber requires authentication...
use same setting as receiving mail server.
    try this...

  • Can no longer send mail through Apple Mail

Starting yesterday morning, I can no longer send mail via Apple Mail. I can receive it just fine, but when I try to send, it struggles for a minute, then leaves the message in my Outbox. When I open Mail's "Connection Doctor," it says "Could not connect to this SMTP server"; it says this for all three SMTP servers I routinely use, including smtp.mac.com.
No other computer in my house has this problem. In fact, if I switch to a different account on my Mac and use Apple Mail with these same smtp servers, it works fine.
Needless to say, this is completely mystifying to me. Does anyone have any idea what's happening, or how to correct the problem?
    Thanks.

Do my eyes deceive me? Am I dreaming? Could it really be true? Looks like Apple (finally) fixed this issue! Simply update your Mac to 10.5.5. It might reboot several times. That is normal. When it finally reaches the desktop open your Mail app and try sending. It should now work for you. I couldn't be any happier, after over a year without Mail it's finally working again! This is the update that everyone's been waiting for

I have to agree with you , I too was disappointed to see that with IOS 4 on my iphone I still cant send from an alias. This is a feature thats available with the .me web access so why not the iphone mail app? If they can't do it, then at least let me be able to use .me via safari on the iphone and ipad.

  • Can no longer send mail after installing Yosemite

can no longer send mail after installing Yosemite

    Hi nwpmike,
When I uncheck "SSL" it's working well, but it's not very secure. When I leave SSL, I got in "Connection Doctor" the message "Trying to log in to this SMTP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct.", only for the SMTP. For the IMAP, the status in Green. It's also working well on the iPhone 6 with ios8 and other mac with OS X 10.9 and previous versions.
The only thing that can be involved is that the certificat used by my mail provider is expired.
With connection docteur, there is a button "Show Details". Here is the conversation when connecting to the smtp.
