Can not access my email account so can't reset my phone

I had an IPhone 4 for company use, my email was the company one. I've now left that company and gave back the Iphone 4. Then I bought a Iphone 4S and restored it back with the Iphone 4 data. now will not allow access to that account it says wrong password (I know it's the correct password)

That looked helpful so I followed the Restore directions you sent me to. Now the trouble is that I've wiped all my data (having backed up first) and when I come to restore from my backup it again asks me for a password - which I haven't set.
I have definitely not lost any password - I keep all of them in an mSecure file vault. I have a record of a passcode for the phone itself but that does not work.
Is there any way i get get inside my iPhone Backup and find the mysterious password? None of the ones i use work!

Having the email address is not necessary. It is just the username for the device. All you need is that Apple ID and password. Now, if you forgotten the password, then you have more work to do. Since that email is no longer active, you would need to send the reset to your rescue email, if you remember that. Or you will need to contact Apple Security for help. OPen Keychain Access & see if you have more than 2 entries for each eMail account.

They will block checking if you check too often from a variety of IP's. So jumping from Cell, to Wifi, to Cell, to another Wifi, etc a lot they will block remote checking and only allow web checking until unlocked.
Can also happen if you have a computer setup to check at a high interval.

I had talked with three people at Apple tech support on the phone, one person in the Apple store in Indianapolis, plus the other places I mentioned. Only the one young man in the Apple store was even able to identify the problem which was the POP vs. IMAP issue. And then like you said he was only able to say he hoped it would be fixed in the next update release. I did call him back this morning and told him about your simple solution, that I had seen it at the Apple forum, and that he might suggest bringing this topic up at the next staff meeting. I also let my Verizon rep know and an agent at Comcast. Something so simple yet it took three days and a lot of frustration to get fixed. Thanks again. You're my hero! ~ Carol Thomas
Also forgot to mention ... I got the iPhone 6 Plus about three weeks ago and did not have this problem. But I did a backup of my iPhone 5S on the computer and then used that backup to restore to my new iPhone. The iPad I did differently and just set it up as a new iPad with no restoring from the old one. That must have made a difference on the phone because it was set up just like the 5S ... as a POP3.

Depending on when you originally set up your Apple ID, you may have @mac.com, @me.com, and @icloud.com email addresses associated with your account, but all mail sent to those addresses should still come in to the same iCloud account (you can test this to make sure by sending yourself emails at those addresses). On WinXP Back, Forward, and Home was last in the Firefox 3.6 versions and disappeared as of Firefox 4.0 - and hasn't been seen since.

I'm sorry, I do not fully understand your question. However if you are looking for the email address which you have used for your iTunes account, you can find this out by using the "get info" command on any items you have previously purchased from iTunes and navigating to the summary tab.
