Can not activate iCloud photostream
I try to activate my photostream with iPhoto '11, but it doesn't work.
In the settings i activate the hook for photostream, but when i try to activate it appears an error und the hook is disabled.
The settings are ok. Now i try to activate it in iPhoto...
Error: photostream could not establish an internet connection.
The setting is disabled...
I hope you can help me. The photostream works on my iPhone and Apple TV perfectly.
Even though Photo Stream seems to be disabled in System Preferences > iCloud on your Mac, try resetting via iCloud.com
Instructions here > iCloud: Resetting your Photo Stream
If you can do that, then restart your Mac, launch System Preferences > iCloud
See if you can select Photo Stream.

Hello i can not activate icloud from my ipad2 my old email address is my apple id.

i curently have an apple id that i have had for years "[email protected]" i have since signed up to icloud and i cloud emails and i selected "[email protected]" for example! now when i try and update my original apple id "[email protected]" with my new @me.com email address it wont allow me!
i dont want to have 2 apple id's cause all my emails assosiated with my original apple id (eg Receipts from apple) go to my old email address and not my @me.com email!
does that make more sense ? -

If you're able to contact the previous owner, send them this link and tell them to follow the instructions.
If not, you can't activate the device but may be able to get it refunded.
Apple won't remove the lock for anyone other than the original owner(assuming they're alive.)

You need to use the credentials for the iCloud account that was used to turn on the Find my iPhone service.
If you can't remember yours, you can recover it here: https://iforgot.apple.com/appleid
If you've been walking around for 2 years with someone else's account set up for Find my iphone, then you'll have to get hold of that individual. If you can't, there is no way to bypass activation lock. -

In that case only the previous owner can unlock it, either by providing you with the account ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices (as he should have done before selling it) - please see http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4515
If you unable to contact him to do this then I'm afraid you will not be able to use the device - there is no other way of unlocking it at all.
You should if possible return it to wherever you bought it and ask for a refund as in this event the device is completely useless.
You should not post serial numbers or any other personal data here; I've asked the Hosts to remove it. -

I read through the thread you mentioned and it seems that people are having a lot of problems with the iCloud clients, so we're not alone, but the unique issue in my case is the failing email address vs. the working perfectly email address.
After reading your message tonight, I tried my setup again with the preferred Apple ID (the one without the "." between the names), and for the first time ever, IT WORKS. Mail app configured the servers both send and receive as p01-smtp.mail.me.com and p01-imap.mail.me.com. For the first time, I'm able to send and receive into the Mail app, create mailboxes, move messages into and out of mailboxes, keep Sent messages, etc.
I had a 50-minute support chat with MobileMe support via ExpressLane on Monday afternoon. They couldn't resolve my issue but passed me on to escalation. I was told to expect to get an email from advanced support by this afternoon, but none has arrived. However, so far tonight -- and I will check again tomorrow several times before declaring victory -- it looks like something has been fixed on the Apple end to make things work.
I will report back after I do some additional testing tomorrow to make sure the fix is real and is solid...and before I let my friend, the new Mac user, know the good news.
