Can not add a printer

I am trying to add a networked HP 3600dn to my MacBookPro8,1 running 10.6.8.
I set it up in the add printer box via IP > HP Jetdirect - Socket using the IP address. It is recognized and has the drivers, but when I click add, it drops the the box that says it's determining the installable options, and it immidiately pops back up. The printer isn't added at that point. I can click it over and over with the same results. I have rebooted and I have zapped the PRAM. Other users can add the printer without issue, and I can add other printers to this machine without issue.
Any clues as to what could possibly be causing this problem?

Don't know if this helps but below is the solution I found for my 3600 printing from Snow on one machine and Mountain Lion on the other:
Ok folks. After 4 days of frustration I finally found a wonderful lady at HP mac support who knew her stuff. If you are having problems connecting to your HP Laserjet (I have an HP Laserjet 3600. I'm told this solution will work for any "older" Laserjet models also) via your network after installing the newest drivers. Here is the solution that worked for me:
1. Shut down your printer
2. Connect directly with a USB cable.
3. Turn on the printer and then select the USB printer in the Print and Fax dialogue.
4. Print one sheet with the USB.
5. Now install the Bonjour, IPP and or HP socket option
6. Test print and you are finished
Now the drivers can find the printer over your network. So far no failures. Oh yeah, don't forget to reserve the IP address for your LaserJet via Airport Extreme:)
Hope this helps a few of you who have experienced similar issues.

I reset my printer list on my mother's MacBook and tried to add a new printer. There are no printers to add in the Add Printer list. I ran Repair Disk Permissions and still I can not add any printers through the System Preferences>Print & Fax. Why are there no printers to select?

Try reinstalling the printer drivers (software) that came with the printer or go to the printer manufacture web site and download the drivers there.

I installed HP Laserjet Pro P1102 on win 7, I checked it for sharing. trying to add it on winxp on same router but is not detected. I d/led file The HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility application "HPHNDU.exe" on pc that printer is attached to, can not find network printer.

It might be possible to do this with an Airport Express. Your AE joins the network and the printer is connected to the AE. If you can get it cheap (g speed is OK).

Can not add new printer on CUPS

Hi,
I'm trying to add a new printer using CUPS web interface. After I enter my username and password, it then says "Access Forbidden." My user is in the printer group which is allowed to have access to administration privileges per the following line
SystemGroup printer
in the cupsd.conf file. When I tried to log in as root, it does not give me access either but comes back with the login window again.

When I go to my System Preferences, Printing, Set Up Printers..., nothing happens. I thought this was how you added a printer, but no dialog box is opening. Any ideas about what I am doing wrong or how to fix this problem?

Thanks for all the feedback on my printer problem.
Here's what I know: Yes, the printer is plugged into the electrical outlet and the computer itself. The printer is an EPSON Stylus Photo R280 and EPSON claims it will operate on a Mac running 10.3.9 (which is what I have). Installation was going according to their instructions, including installing the drivers, and when I got to the part where it said to connect the USB cable, I did and apparently the computer recognized it as the installation then continued to the next step. The next step was a screen that said "Open the Printer List" and that's where I ran into trouble, as no printer list opened, no matter how many times I clicked on the button.
Taking Ali B's advice, I checked HD>Applicaitons>Utilities to find my Printer Setup Utility, and lo and behold, it's not there! I have no idea what happened to it, but I'm guessing this may be the cause of my problem(?). So how do I get it back? Reinstall all my original OS software?

Can not add my new printer to the print and scan preferences

I have purchased a Canon Pixma MG5350 and try to connect it to my mac but with no results. I have installed all the drivers but can not add it to the print and scan preferences. I looked in Applications > Utilities > System Information > USB and it does not even show that it is connected. The printer comes without a USB so I bought a 5m USB 2.0 A to B cable and eventually something is wrong. Is the USB too long, not the right one or what is the problem?

I have already got my refund for the cable! I tried a friends cable and everything works!

It's pretty difficult to offer suggestions when you say nothing about your Mac, the version of Mac OS it's running, or the models of printers you have. It sounds like you may be experiencing issues on your non iOS 8 devices because iOS 8 is required to set up or join a Family Sharing group.

Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing.

Can not add a picture to the JFrame from an ActionListener class

As topic says, I can not add a picture to the JFrame from an ActionListener class which is a class inside the JFrame class.
I have a Map.java class where I load an image with ImageIcon chosen with JFileChooser.
I my window class (main class), I have following:

Can not add games to iPod touch 4g from ITunes (PC) it worked befour new update but why not now..

I can now transfer apps including games to my ipod from windows pc in Itunes. I click on ipod tab on the left hand side then click on the apps tab then tick the box at the top to sync and now i can drag and drop apps. No apps or music was lost, still all on my ipod touch, but it did mix my apps up so i had to sort them out. I don't know why it did not work, no setting where change, but the update might of change it.

Can not add function to pages-document created with Applescript

If I create new document using the GUI (New document) I can place the cursor within any table-cell, type "=" (equal sign) and f.e. "2+2" which will result in a cell showing a "4".
If I create a document with Applescript, I can not add new functions (neither by typing = nor by using Insert >> Function (may be different, I have German version here). Already existing functions (which already were in the template) can still be used and work as expected but can not be altered.
Any idea?

The variable templateName is undefined.
The variable angebotsNr is undefined too.
About the described behavior, it's a bug which I never discover before.
It's always striking in Pages '09.

Can not add pictures to my website

When I edit my website on (bluedomino.com) I can not add pictures I receive an error message - an error has interrupted communication between your browser and the website server. Bluedomino looked at the problem and could not resolve said it was firefox issue. I switched over to Int.Explore and I have no problem it also seems to run faster. I have no problem viewing my web sites all the pictures display I can't add new ones. I'm able to upload the pictures to bluedomino but can not insert them on the edit page or post them.

This can be worked around by creating a version of the video that is compatible with your iPod.
Select a video and choose File > Create New Version > Create iPad or Apple TV Version.

Can not add entries to iCloud synced calendar on iphone

I can not add new entried to my iPhone Calandar that is suposed to sync up to iCloud. (Adding via iCal on MacBook Pro is OK)
I am also stil not able to just completely delete my iCould account from my iPhone.
Realy frustrating. Any help appreciated. (Suggestions for a reset are NOT, as I have been reset my phone at least 50 times over the last few days already)
Is there a way to completely reset/clear an iCloud account?
Why does the iPhone insist on trying to contact iCould if I want to remove the account from my phone?

the bug seems to be in the handshake between the phone and icloud - i cloud needs to know the phone is off the cloud, but you can't connect to icloud from the phone to tell it, because there is a bug. it appears some people have been able to get decent tech support from apple - I have not.

Make sure you're looking for it in the Movies or TV Shows libraries, or do a search for it by name.
Did you check if the format is compatible with iTunes (QuickTime plays more formats if you have add-ons)?
