Can not add new printer

I reset my printer list on my mother's MacBook and tried to add a new printer. There are no printers to add in the Add Printer list. I ran Repair Disk Permissions and still I can not add any printers through the System Preferences>Print & Fax. Why are there no printers to select?

Try reinstalling the printer drivers (software) that came with the printer or go to the printer manufacture web site and download the drivers there.

    We are using  SQL Server 2008 R2 and system working since long and suddenly we observed mentioned two issues. The server MyServer is already restarted but did not help.  The MDS installed and configured on SAME Machine (MyServer).
      I  have two issues here.
    1. MDM website can not Identify the local Users (MyServer\MyUser).
    The User created on local Machine (MyServer\MyUser). I logged into MDM website using Admin login and click on User and Permission. Then I click on add and Text box appears to type UserName. Here I type "MyServer\MyUser" (MyServer\MyUser is already
    exists and working since long). Then click checkName; I received a message "No exact Match was found for MyServer\MyUser". Where as User from OTHER domain identified in MDM but could not identify ONLY the local users like "MyServer\MyUser".
    2. Can not add new user in Existing working MDM.
    I created windows user on machine (MyServer\MyUser1) and add it in UserGroup having an access to MDM. and then I tried to login to MDM using newly created user (MyServer\MyUser1) ; I see error Access Is Denied. The Permission assigned to UserGroup (not
    to individual user). The new User (MyUser1) should automatically get added in MDM once logged in. This is working for existing users in UserGroup; BUT NOT ONLY for new user (MyUser1).

    Now I Solved this problem in my case.
    I just grant again all permissions according http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff486994.aspx. Now all work fine.

  • Can not add new program unit in form

    We have a form developed using developer 6i in which we can not add new program units. If new program unit is added and form is saved and closed then after opening the form again, newly added program unit can not be seen in object navigator as well as it can not be found using search. Such form fails to compile as the calls for new program unit exists but the program unit is lost. The problem persists even if another copy of form is made using Save As option.
    What could be the reason of this problem?

    Hmmm... I have never had the problem. Two forms I have been working on lately are 1808 KB and 1424 KB. This is their compiled-and-saved size. Their "cleaned up" size is 792 KB and 604 KB.

    It might be possible to do this with an Airport Express. Your AE joins the network and the printer is connected to the AE. If you can get it cheap (g speed is OK).

    Hi,
    I've just purchased a new Epson Stylus CX7800. I installed the software, plugged in the USB cable and restarted the computer. When I try to add the printer in the Printer Setup Utility, it's listed but when I select it, the button to "add" it doesn't become active. Also listed is a thing called FlashPaper, which when highlighted, is able to be added. WHY CAN'T I ADD MY NEW PRINTER!!!! I'm so frustrated right now, please help!

    Take a deep breath & count to ten...............
    If you have not already done so after the installation:
    Repair permssions & restart.
    Go through the installation process per the instructions in the Epson manual, the Printer Setup Utility and/or double check to make sure you installed properly the first time around.
    If the above still does not work and/or appears you have done everything correctly, then you will need to check out Epsons Support Site. You may need to update the drivers.

  • Can not add new server

    Hi,
    I install Oracle Workshop for WebLogic 10.3 on Windows Vista and I create new remote server without problem but I can not see server state.
    So I delete server and try add new one. Unfortunately when new server popup window is open and I click next (to Specify a WebLogic domain directory/Specify a remote host name) I can not type connection data because all fields but Re-enter password are disabled for remote server type.
    Next I try reinstall Oracle Workshop and this takes no effect.

    In new installation BEA2 I create new domain and start it. After configuring WebLogic Runtime Oracle WebLogic Server connection start to live.
    Same procedure with old installation doesn't work.

  • Can't Add New Printer

    In the Print & Fax section of my system preferences it used to show my USB printer. But then, for some reason, it disappeared. Now when I click the add printer button, I can see my printer under the default printers tab, however, when I click to add my printer it asks for a password of someone in the "lpadmin" group. My administrator password does not work for this.
    If anyone has any ideas at all, they would be much appreciated.

    I am trying to add a Dell 1350 laser printer to my list of printers.  When I try to add it, i am unable to find an appropriate file for "Print Using:" option.        
    If I choose Autoselect, is states that Software for this printr isn't available from Apple.
    I downloaded the driver from Dell and installed it, but nothing shows in the Select Printer Software list in the Print Using drop-down.  I can't seem to find a file on my iMac that is appropriate either (e.g., Dell-specific or generic printer driver)

    You make it a little difficult to help you because you haven't provided any information about your system. Going forward please complete your profile (Your Stuff (upper right) - Profile.) I'm going to guess you use OS X Snow Leopard or Lion, if so please see Printer and scanner software for Snow Leopard & Lion for a list of supported printers. If you cannot find your Dell then you can try Gutenberg's printer drivers and maybe you will be able to find one. You can find their site at:

    You can also check Dell's web site to see if they provide a driver. Because Dell is really a MS Windows company they don't invest much at all in supporting peripherals that users would like to use with OS X. To be honest I think the Gutenberg drivers are the best bet. If they can't help I'd replace the printer with one designed for OS X, they're are hundreds to choose from.

  • Can not add a printer

    I am trying to add a networked HP 3600dn to my MacBookPro8,1 running 10.6.8.
    I set it up in the add printer box via IP > HP Jetdirect - Socket using the IP address. It is recognized and has the drivers, but when I click add, it drops the the box that says it's determining the installable options, and it immidiately pops back up. The printer isn't added at that point. I can click it over and over with the same results. I have rebooted and I have zapped the PRAM. Other users can add the printer without issue, and I can add other printers to this machine without issue.
    Any clues as to what could possibly be causing this problem?

    Don't know if this helps but below is the solution I found for my 3600 printing from Snow on one machine and Mountain Lion on the other:
    Ok folks. After 4 days of frustration I finally found a wonderful lady at HP mac support who knew her stuff. If you are having problems connecting to your HP Laserjet (I have an HP Laserjet 3600. I'm told this solution will work for any "older" Laserjet models also) via your network after installing the newest drivers. Here is the solution that worked for me:
    1. Shut down your printer
    2. Connect directly with a USB cable.
    3. Turn on the printer and then select the USB printer in the Print and Fax dialogue.
    4. Print one sheet with the USB.
    5. Now install the Bonjour, IPP and or HP socket option
    6. Test print and you are finished
    Now the drivers can find the printer over your network. So far no failures. Oh yeah, don't forget to reserve the IP address for your LaserJet via Airport Extreme:)
    Hope this helps a few of you who have experienced similar issues.

  • Can not add new VMS into existing clustered server pool

    For some reason, we reinstall VMM (3.1.1-416) with existing UUID and rediscover all VMSs. The process went smooth and the whole system looks clean without dead objects any more. The guest VMs are all working fine. However, the new added VMS in unassigned servers are not displayed in the "Available Servers" when we want to add into existing clustered server pool, but it is shown when we add into unclustered server pool. Anyone has clue or possible way to debug what's wrong.
