Hello Vinod and welcome to the Community!
Please remove Yahoo! Messenger or Windows Live Messenger for the meantime until a new update has been released because one of these apps' newly updated version is causing the issue to most OS5 phones...

While there is no hard limit on how many contacts you can have in your device, there is a soft limit in that you can only have as many as your device memory can handle. Check your available memory to see if you have any remaining space. If not, then consider cleaning out/uninstalling some things you do not need in order to increase available memory for more contacts.

  • Can't add anyone to my address book - PLEASE HELP!!!

Prior to my last upgrade of thunderbird, this function was working fine. Now I cannot add anyone to my address book, and the copy to address book feature does nothing. It's a real pain cause I have to type every single persons email into the address bar which is driving me nuts!!!
It may be an overall setting with the computer, but I have tried every possible option and it doesn't seem to allow me to add anyone. When I do it manually the ok but won't allow me to click it?!?
    Please help...

  • Can not add or edit contact in his blackberry

my client has received a new blackberry, we set it up on the BES server, with Domino for mail service
before we do the enterprise activation, he was able to add or edit contacts in his blackberry.
after the enterprise activation, he can not edit or add a contact.
the options appear but when selected, nothing happens.
The user went back to his provider, and I think they reloaded the OS on it
on my side, I removed the server path and relative path where the address book file is so the address book is not synchronised with Lotus Notes.
anyone seen that kind of problem? anyone can help?

    Hi,
I know this is an old thread with a recent response.
I had the same issue and I was able to solve it by downgrading my MSN Messenger.
I found a string where it describes MSN as being the issue with contacts.  So either downgrade it or if you don't use it then remove it all together.
    Hope this helps

  • Can not make Groups work in Address Book

I'm running Mac OS X v10.7.4 with the latest version of Address Book. I'm new to Apple and am trying to set up groups in Address Book for ease of mailing to a number of contacts.
I'm connected to iCloud and am able to create  group names under iCloud. I can also drag contacts into a group from my iCloud contact list to populate it and the names are displayed on the opposing page from the page listing the group names. However, when I enter the group name into a Mail message address box the box remains blank. Also, if I right click on the group name in the group list and select "Send an e-mail to the group" that will open a "new message" window but again the "to box" will be empty. When I click on a group name and then select from the task bar "Edit>Edit Distribution List..." that choice is grayed out and non-responsive. So I end up with a defined group with group members in it but it can not be edited nor available for actually addressing an e-mail message.
However, this is the weird part: What I described above was my effort yesterday, trying to get Groups going and finally shutting down in frustration. Today when I opened Address Book the groups worked! I could address e-mail messages using either method. The "Edit Distribution List..." was active and I was able to modify my group members. I was so elated that I immediately created another group. Alas, it behaved as the other groups did yesterday. The group was populated but unable to be inserted in the "to box" and I was unable to edit the distribution list. Also, after creating the new group, yesterday's groups would no longer permit being edited although I was able to earlier in the day. However, the addresses still appear in the "to box" when I invoke the group.
I am confused and frustrated. Do I have an incorrect setting that hinders the use of groups? Is there some system reset or iCloud update that occurs on a daily basis that activated the groups created yesterday? Why would my creating a new group cause me to loose the ability to edit any of the groups?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading such a long message.
    Mike

Eureka. You are right. I just tested closing and reopening Mail and now today's groups work. Regarding editing the existing groups, I found an article from 2011 on CNet that claimed that iCloud disables the Distribution List Editor. The work around is to create a single dummy group under "On My Mac" which will reactivate the editor which can then be used for iCloud groups. I tested this and it works.
Thank you so much for your prompt and helpful comment.

  • Can't add new Contact in address book

I am trying to add a new contact in the address book by using the + sign at the bottom of the list of names, and it just switches to the next contact. It does NOT create a NEW contact. Is there a limit of contacts for the address book that I am not aware of ?
    Thanks in advance

Have you tried adding a contact from the file menu?

  • Can not post all contacts from address book group

I created a contact list with 132 entries for a social club that I belong to in Address Book.  When I create a message and add the group in the BCC field it will only post 99 contacts.
I tried dragging and dropping the group and typing the group name in the Bcc field and I always end up with just 99. I checked all the addresses and they all seem legit. It took me quite a long time to add all these fields and now I am so discouraged. Any ideas at all please.

Glad it working. I couldn't remember if Lion had a limit but usually it's your ISP that limits sending to a group. In the past it used to be 50 contacts but now most let you send up to 200 in a group.
It's best to put yourself in the To line and add group to BCC for privacy. If you don't have a To recipient some ISPs put the BCC in To.

  • How can I edit an Address Book Distribution List that will not display in Lion?

The option to edit an Address Book Distribution List (to select preferred emails for certain contacts) only appears as light print and does not respond to selection.  I have a number of Address Groups that display and funtion properly in Mail, but since installing Lion, the problem described occurs.  Any fix?  Thanks.

The key is that the Contact List is now being kept in the Cloud & you cannot edit the Distribution List in your Mac's Address Book.
    The fix is:
    Quit your Address Book
Go to  Menu --> Sys Preferences --> iCloud
    Uncheck the CONTACTS icon
    Close Sys Pref
Open Address Book - Edit your Distribution Lists (No longer Greyed out)
    Quit Address Book
Go to  Menu --> Sys Preferences --> iCloud
    Check the CONTACTS icon
You should be good to go!
    Hope this helps!

    Hi jybravo70,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you may be experiencing issues on your non iOS 8 devices because iOS 8 is required to set up or join a Family Sharing group.
The following information is located in the print at the bottom of the article.
Apple - iCloud - Family Sharing
Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Does my mac automatically create an email contact list (that I can go to) as I compose emails or do I have to manually add contacts into my address book?

Does my mac automatically create an email contact list, or do I have to manually add emails to my address book?

Hi there. You email contact list is in your address book. These are from a list you make or by you emailing someone. If you are talking about setting up email so to send and receive. With a clean install that is done when you set up  you computer. Otherwise you have to open mail and go to mail preferences/accounts and set up your email account. http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201728  http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT1277

  • Cant add or delete in Address Book

Address Book has become very weird. I cannot add or permanently delete cards or edit the existing cards. When I select a card, the edit button is unavailable (grayed out) as are New Card, New Group etc in the File list. I have used Edit to delete cards but they reappear when Address Book is reopened. I am working in OS 10.4.7, Address Book 4.0.4. I am using Missing Sync 2.5.0 b2 to synch my PDA. I have not made any changes in Address Book in some time so have no idea when this started. Have tried restarts, trashing Address Book.plist, I would reinstall Address Book but can’t find it in Mac downloads.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas?

There could be some corruption in the AB database.
Turn of syncing (I never trust it!).
File/Back up address book (so we can recover if everything goes wrong)
    Select all your contacts
    File/Export vCards
    Quit AB
    Find and delete ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/AddressBook.data
    Restart AB
    File/Import/vCards
Hopefully, anything bad in the database will be cleared out by this, possibly at the expense of one or two contacts.
Another thing to try is to check your fonts. AB uses LucidaGrande and Helvetica; use Font Book to verify that they are OK.

  • Editing Mail Address Book

I would like to edit the address book in Mail. I need to add a contact from scratch; i.e. not a contact in any mail box, just a new contact with a dialog box for entering the contact information such as name, address, phone number, e-mail, web page, etc. Also I need to be able to edit the address book; remove a contact or edit the information of a particular contact. I can't seem to get the address book to contain more than the e-mail address of a contact. Where is the address, phone number, and other information?
