Can not charge by using the cord with the different side
Since i upgrade my iPhone 5 to iOS7
it can not charge with the original cable
you could charge only with one side
i have try the different cable
and it's the same problem
There are many friend of mine facing the same problem
So i am pretty sure that's not the iPhone 5 's problem , it's about the software
This is the first post that I've seen on these forums about a cable working only one way.
Check the connector carefully for dirt.
Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

What OS are you using?
Double-checking all settings is good. Along the way, one thing to try:
Have a look at your SMTP server settings to see if the port is set to "default" or "custom". If it is "default" try switching to custom using one of the numbers listed under "default". That fixed it for me on one of my accounts.
(To do all this: Mail, Preferences, Accounts, Outgoing Mail Server, Edit SMTP server list, Advanced.)

Your iPhone charger is 5W, whereas the iPad 1 charger is 10W. The iPhone charger will work, but the charge time will be more than double. If you buy a new charger, get the iPad 4 charger which is 12W. It will charge faster than the 10W charger.

i just purchased a refurbished ipad gen 1 when i pluged in the wall charger with the usb cable a window came up and said (charging not supported with this accesory) the battry was almost dead so i pluged in the wall charger and
the battery has been charging for 24 hrs and is only 50%charged it is the factory use charger for this unit why does this error come up and why is it taking so long the software is up to dateNot normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

I am getting a message "Not Charging" next to the battery icon.
When I plug my iPad into a wall socket, I get a ping as if it is charging but the message next to the battery icon says Not Charging. I have tried several different charging cables.

I have a problem with my iPhone 5 stopped working the sleep / power and simultaneously refused to obey the HOME button. I can not use either one or the other. I can not enable or disable the device, display lights up when you plug the charger. same display works fine as it is surprising. or maybe someone knows what is the reason for this? is there any way to solve this problem?
More than likely its a hardware issue, I have never encountered such a problem and best bet is to just go get it replaced. If you have insurance on your device apple will replace it as long as there was no water damage, if you dont have insurance they will charge $200 more or less. Hope you get it fixed

I get a error message "To charge faster, use the cable and device that were provided with this phone" when charging my Samsung Galaxy note 3. I took it to a store last week and they said it has something to do with the last software update. They tried charging it at the store and got the same message. I was given another phone, I still get the same error with the new phone.
