Can not connect FaceTime between MacBook pro and iPad 2. Both connected to wifi ... Both using the same account email

Both connected to wifi. Both are using same FaceTime account email address ( both my devices)

Eh la Pastenague! Je savais que tu était léthale pour l'homme mais ce sont pluôt les machines à pommes qui devraient te craindre. Merci! Solved.
For future reference.
My TC is a 3rd gen.
I actually had to reset to standard defaults not only once but twice. The first time I simply returned to my old profile but that only led to the same message error on the network settings (i.e. IP by default, cannot connect to the internet). Therefore the second time around I kept my profile as backup and re-created a new one plus a guest one.
The airport utility then signaled to issues remaining:
1) Internet access was cut - this I solved by simply reseting the cable modem
2) There were no DNS Servers - I simply copied the ones I had from the previous setup and it worked
I did have AppleCare....
I'm online again and I hope for good.
Thanks a lot
PS. a small tip - I made captures of all my settings in Network settings, Airport Utility and Network utility using Grab in case of ... if anything it is just handy to get back settings that your are missing when setting up a new configuration

  • Bluetooth connectivity problems between Macbook Pro and iPad

    Good afternoon All,
I am having problems sending files between my macbook pro (retina display) purchased today and my ipad (also purchased today).
They will connect and pair, but when attempting to send a file my macbook will tell me that it is not possible due to "The device does not have the necessary service."
Anyone know of a cure for this problem?
    Thank you!

Bluetooth in iPad was designed only to work with keyboards, earphones or speakers.  It was not designed to, nor will it work as a file sender from one device to another.  Either sync the files to your iPad from your Mac via iTunes sync, or email them, or get a cloud service like Dropbox on your Mac and then download the Dropbox app on your iPad.  Put the files in your Drobox account on your Mac, then access them via the Dropbox App on your iPad.

  • I can't sync my all email message between macbook pro and iPad 4

    Hi,
I can't sync my all email message between macbook pro and iPad 4. This sync only complete account setting but not email message.
Can anybody help me to fix the problem?

You can't "fix" this problem because you can't sync email messages from the Mac mail app, you can only sync your email account settings. Messages will not sync using iTunes.

I have a very old (by computer standards) MacBook Pro, and a newer one.  I've been using the old one mostly for iTunes, into which I have only CD entries.  For a long time, years, the old MacBook pro ceased entering the song titles.  This is very time consuming for me, so I finally investigated a bit further.
I discovered how to enter the track titles onto my newer MacBook Pro, and was so pleased!  But when I tried to do the same with the other laptop, it failed.
What I did, basically, was what the Apple Help suggested--choose iTunes General Preferences, etc.etc.  And yes, I did upgrade the old laptop to the newest iTunes version.
Am I just wasting my time here? Is there some reason why an older Mac Pro will not do what the newer one will, with regard to iTunes?
My older laptop is a 2.6 GHz Core Duo; it has 36 GB of "memory available."  The newer one  a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7. It has 284 GB of memory available.
Both are using the same version of Snow Leopard--10.6.8.

  • I have an iMac with Microsoft Office and an HD - Time Machine. I'm buying a MacBook Pro and I want to know that if I use the Time Machine to transfer all my stuff the Microsof Office will work or if I need to reinstall it with another licence ?

I have an iMac with Microsoft Office (and several other licenced softs) and an HD - Time Machine that backup all the stuff. I'm buying a MacBook Pro and I would to know that if I use the Time Machine to transfer all my stuff, the Microsof Office will work normally or if I need to reinstall it with another licence?

You do not need a new license. The license file will be found in /Library/Preferences/ and is named, com.microsoft.office.licensing.plist. Be sure it gets transferred and you will be fine. I see no reason why the file would not be in your Time Machine backup nor any reason why it would be restored.
Please visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine. You may need help figuring out how to restore your current backup to a new machine.

  • Can't complete facetime connection between macbook pro and iPad

Last week I had to download the latest version of facetime from the mac app store because the beta version (0.9) had expired.  After I installed it on my 15" macbook pro (last model that had the removable battery) running the latest version of Snow Leopard 10.6.x, I tried to facetime with my iPad (3rd gen).  It would ring, but when I would try to accept the connection, it wouldn't make the connection.  I was using the same account/user id on both the iPad and the macbook pro.  I added my wife's email address to the mac and selected her address and then was able to connect and I thought my problems were solved.  At this time, both the macbook pro and iPad were on the same wifi network.
Fast forward a few days and I'm overseas and trying to facetime with my wife and so I attempt to connect and it rings and she accepts the incoming connection, but then it never connects and I get a message that it failed.  She tries to connect to me and the same thing happens - it rings, i touch the button to accept and it says connecting and then never connects.  I was able to connect with no issues when she was using her iPhone 4S when I am in London and she is at home on the same wifi network as the macbook pro is on.  I had her sign out of my apple account in facetime on the macbook pro and sign in with her apple account that is associated with a completely different email address.  We tried to connect and still had the same problem - rings, hit answer, connection fails.
I can also connect with my iPhone 4 to my iPad (both on the same wifi network, data roaming turned off on the phone so I know it is wifi only)
Since I can connect to my iPhone and my wife's iPhone, I'm pretty certain that the problem isn't with the wifi network on either end and it has something to do with facetime on the macbook pro.  When I was googling for answers, it seems like this issue isn't an uncommon occurence, but I haven't been able to find any solutions either.

    No.
they run entirely different os on entirely different hardware.

  • Connectivity Issue Between MacBook Pro and Mac Mini

I have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Mini both with Yosemite 10.10.2, I've never had any issues with them sharing a connection when I was home, (I've never been able to connect outside of my home network) but I use the Mini to backup my MacBook Pro, but has of February 11th my MacBook Pro doesn't see my Mac Mini no matter what I do. I can share the screen from the Mini to the Book Pro but I can't remotely access the Mini from the MacBook Pro. I've turned off Back to My Mac on both Macs and removed it from my Airport Extreme and re-entered all of the information. I signed out of iCloud on both Macs and signed back in. I haven't changed any settings at all before I lost the connection, I am not sure how to resolve this issue.

    Hey there GRivera210,
It sounds like you are having issues with using Back to my Mac. I would recommend using the troubleshooting outlined in the following article to help resolve the issue. It also has a contact for the iCloud support team if it doesnt resolve it:
If you have issues using Back to My Mac
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • Sharing internet between Macbook Pro and iPad mini

My Macbook pro is connected to a wireless internet hotspot which i pay weekly for, called bizportal. I then have this connected to a Wifi Router. Ive recently purchased an Ipad Mini and would like to connect this to the hotspot too. Ive clicked the internet sharing option in system preferences on my Macbook, but then I look on my Ipad and my Macbook Pro doesnt seem to come up in Wifi options, What can I do now?

You cannot connect the iPad directly to the hotspot? I know nothing about your particular hotspot but I can connect up to 5 devices with the Verizon MIFI2200 that I use. I have connected 3 devices successfully at one time but have never had to try more than that.
OS X Lion: Share your Internet connection
OS X Mountain Lion: Share your Internet connection

  • Can I migrate info between Macbook Pro and Mac mini using a thunderbolt connection?

I want to migrate information from my Macbook Pro to my MacMini but the Macbook Pro doesn't see/recognise the MacMini. The MacMini sees the Macbook Pro.
The MacMini is using OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1
The Macbook Pro is using OS X version 10.9.5
I have connected a thunderbolt lead between the two devices but this hasn't changed the problem.

You should be able to per these instructions:

    Ciao.

  • AirDrop not working between MacBook Pro and iPad/iPhone 5

AirDrop isn't working with new operating system between iOS devices and MacBook Pro. Not sure what to do now. There are no options below on my AirDrop that can select between older Macs and iOS devices

First  change airdrop setting from contacts to anyone for testing.
The default level is that contacts only. That means your iPhone contact app has to have the apple id that  your iPad currently use, to show the iPad in airdrop of the iPhone.
If above is not your problem, try logout your iCloud account, in Settings-iCloud, then login again. Turn off your iOS devices and re-open it. This can fix problems potentially in iCloud account. My iPhone 5 has that potential problem in iCloud account which asks me many times a day to re-entery my apple id's password, which leads to contacts syncing, which affects airdrop's contact setting, I think.

  • Streaming music between Macbook Pro and IMac

Sorry if this seems a stupid question to you, I don't even know if its possible or not but was hoping someone could help me.
I was wanting to know if you can play music from your Macbook Pro and have it play through your IMac Speakers through the wireless network?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks alot,
    Curtis

Rogue Amoeba writes that kind of software.  I don't know if they have one for doing that.

  • (Trouble printing) Trouble with connection between Macbook Pro and Hp Deskjet 1510.

Trouble with connection between Macbook Pro and Hp Deskjet 1510. (Nothing Prints).
I have a Macbook Pro and am having difficulty printing documents from ‘Pages' from my Hp Deskjet 1510. I have installed the necessary software for the printer and it is connected via USB. Every time I try to print the printer icon comes up as it should, 'printing' and then 'job completed' and then the icon disappears. (Nothing is printed.) I thought it might be something to do with Pages compatibility with the printer but exporting the document to Word or making it a PDF doesn’t change anything. I don’t have Microsoft Word on my computer. The scanner does work and when I printed a ‘Test Page’ that worked too.
Let me know if you know why this is happening.

With these settings the network now works flawlessly, however, when i have my ethernet cable plugged in, my internet access via my airport card(on the macbook pro) is no longer available. Hoping you can tell me why this would be with this info i've provided.
Educated guess. The networking devices have priorities as to which are used. The standard order is that Ethernet has a higher priority than Airport.
While your Ethernet is unplugged it is inactive and the Mac ignores it. Once you plug it in, the Mac sees that it is active and switches traffic to that interface.
I actually take advantage of this feature at home, but configuring my Airport and Ethernet with identical fixed IP addresses. Normally I'll use Airport, but if I'm copying a huge file and I want faster performance, I'll just walk my MacBook (previously iBook, previously Powerbook) over to my Ethernet switch and plug in my MacBook. Magically, the Mac detects that the Ethernet is active and continues the file transfer uninterrupted over the faster 100baseT Ethernet connection. When the transfer is finished, or if I really need to move back to the Comfy Chair, I unplug the Ethernet cable, and all activity reverts back to the Airport, all without disrupting any existing networking connections.
You on the other hand have totally different settings for your Ethernet and your Airport, so when you switch to Ethernet, you basically loose your Airport connections.
    Something you can try:
    System Preferences -> Network
Gear icon on the bottom left, next to the [+] [-] icons.
    Select *Set Service Order...*
Now Drag the network interfaces into the perfer priority order you want. In this case put Airport above Ethernet.
NOTE: You may want to create a new Network Location for this, instead of messing with your normal home Location (which is most likely the default Automatic. That way you have your original you can always fall back to.

  • I have my new HD in a USB enclosure connected to my MacBook Pro and I want to put a fresh copy of Mountain Lion on it. But I do not have an install DVD as I got ML as a download from the App Store. What do I do?

I have my new HD in a USB enclosure connected to my MacBook Pro and I want to put a fresh copy of Mountain Lion on it. I'm told that I need to boot from the Installation Disk to start. But I do not have an install DVD as I got ML as a download from the App Store. Can I download ML from the App Store again, but this time directly to my new HD?

Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
You can also use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your present setup to it and boot from it.
    Most commonly used backup methods
However, SOME external enclosures are not bootable, you will soon find out.

  • Can i remotely share files between macbook pro and iMac

Want to know if I can do remote file sharing between macbook pro and imac.

Yes, absolutely. She can access her iMac from anywhere that has an Internet connection. If Screen Sharing is enabled, she can log in and use it as if she were seated at the iMac.
Provided the iMac's router supports the Bonjour Sleep Proxy (obviously all Apple AirPort Base Stations do), the iMac can even be asleep, and BTMM will wake it upon the router receiving a request to access the iMac.
The speed of her available Internet connection will be a limiting factor. Slower connections will be a bit laggy.
Her iMac will appear in a Finder Sidebar, under "Shared".

I have been editing a document on my MacBook Pro and iPad, which has the newer versions of Pages. Now, I cannot open on My MacBook. It says I need a newer version of OS. However, I'm not showing a newer version being availabe!!! Can anyone help???

That is Pages for iPad v2.0, which Pages '09 v4.3 can't read.
You need to either stick with the older version of Pages on the iPad or get Pages 5 for the Mac which is only available if you are running OSX 10.9 Mavericks.
Unfortunately that is not the end of your woes because Apple has made iCloud convert the files to Pages 5 now, and Pages 5 has over 90 features deleted on top of doing a shocking job of converting older Pages files.
