Anyone, including you, who thinks they have - or there is - an 8GB Touch in 3rd generation is wrong and it's becoming tiresome to have to keep saying it to you.
A 3rd generation iPod Touch can be updated to iOS 5.
BUT - an 8GB iPod Touch is either:
1st gen, which can only go as high as iOS 3.1.3
2nd gen, which can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1. This model has Model No. A1288 etched into the back casing.
4th gen, which can install ioS 5
Note the lack of 3rd generation 8GB. That's because it does not exist.
Please stop misleading people. It doesn't help anyone.

Which way are you swiping across its track name ? On iOS 7 you need to swipe from right to left, which should reveal a Delete button on its right-hand end

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. I found an article with some steps to delete photo albums off of an iPhone. The way you delete the photos will depend on whether they were taken with the iPhone (on the Camera Roll) or if you synced the albums:
To delete photos and videos from your device
To delete synced photos and videos
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Click Apply.
To delete Camera Roll photos and videos
There are two methods to delete items from the Camera Roll:
Import the Camera Roll to your computer, choosing to delete items after import.
or
Delete photos and videos from your device manually. Open the Photos application, open the Camera Roll, tap the Action button, tap each photo to select it, and tap the Delete button.
Note: For photos and videos you want to save for later, import them to your computer before deleting them from the Camera Roll.

I have an iPod Touch 5th Gen and there are 3 songs in my Music that I can not delete. When I go to iTunes on my computer the three songs do not show up! WHY?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Can't delete certain songs off my iPhone

A few months ago I clicked the "Show all music" it the music settings on my iPhone. After a few weeks I no longer wanted all the music to show up so I turned it off. Now I can't get certain songs off my phone. I am unable to swipe left on these songs and they don't show up on iTunes or on the One This iPhone tab. All of the songs appear to be songs that I have since deleted from my iTunes library. I have tried removing all songs from the iPhone yet the pesky songs are still there. I also tried unclicking the Sync Music in the Music tab of my iPhone but nothing seems to get theses songs to go away.
Please help.

This will delete all the music from the device:
Settings > General > Usage > Music > Edit > > Delete

I have accidentally bought a song off of iTunes that is a fake. It was a total scam, but that is not my problem. I am having trouble deleting it off of my iTunes on the computer and my iPhone. It sounds like this second part with the cloud may be what's happening:
Delete a video from iPad. Tap Edit in the upper right of your collection, then tap on the video thumbnail. If you don’t see the Edit button, look for on your video thumbnails—those videos haven’t been downloaded to iPad, so you can’t delete them.
To only show locally stored videos and not those in iCloud, you would follow these directions:
Go to Settings > Videos, where you can:
Choose to show only videos on iPad (toggle Show All Videos to off)
However if your concern is space, just know that it isn't taking up any space on your iPad, it is stored in the cloud - not locally.

Can I delete the songs off my hard drive?

I have an 80 gb iPod, but no where near that amount of space on my hard drive. I was wondering if I needed to keep the songs on my hard drive to keep them in my iTunes and iPod, or is it possible to delete them and still have them available. I'm almost positive this isn't the case, but I figured I'd ask someone else.

Follow the instructions in this article; you can then delete songs from your computer without them being deleted from the iPod automatically. If you do this, you should keep another copy of the songs, as they can easily be lost if they are only on the iPod.

I have tow itunes libraries. Music from one library has merged with the other and I can not delete the songs. They keep coming back.

I have two ipod touch libraries under my account. One for my daughter and one for me. I bought my daughter an Iphone and then opened her ipod touch libraryon the computer (Windows Vista). I plugged in her iphone so that she can have the stuff from her ipod touch on her new phone. Somehow her library has partially merged with my library. My ipod touch now has some of HER games and music on it. I went into my library and deleted these games and songs, but they keep coming back. How do I get rid of these once and for all. I don't want to be shuffling AC/DC, Rob Zombie, and then get Justin Bieber all of a sudden while sitting at a red light in traffic.

My mom & I share the same iTunes account and we finally have seperate computers. If i hide songs from iCloud on my computer will it also hide them on her's? Try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. it won't remove anything from your iTunes library. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. Nope, it either needs to be plugged in or turned on with the power button.
A replacement iPhone 4 is $149, but at least the whole phone is replaced.

This may be related to a new feature embedded in iOS7 that shows all purchased music by default. Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music. See if the issue ceases once the feature has been disabled. This information is located on page 63 of the user guide below.
