Can not delete emails

can not delete emails, namely the emails can not be moved into 'Papierkorb'

I suspect the answer lies with whoever maintains hotmail.

Can not delete emails and tool bar at top does not  change over from safari. HELP

If you hold the command key down (the one with the ⌘ on it) and hit the + key you can make the fonts larger. Might help out, I know as I've gotten up there in years I've had to use it more and more
In the mean time while twtwtw mulls this over, can you supply any further information? Did the system crash or didi anything change before you started having the problem? Are you really running 10.5.8 as your profile says?
We'll start with those for now,
    regards

  • Can not delete email

Since upgrading to 2.2 I can not delete email. When I try to delete, I get a message that says "Unable to Move Message The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash." I see that other people had the same problem as referenced here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8512901&#8512901 but their problem went away, and mine remains. Have restarted the phone to no avail. Any advise? Thanks.

Do you go to your settings under Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select your mail account and then go to Advanced settings and make sure Deleted Mailbox says On My iPhone and then the TRASH folder is seleted? Maybe try also unchecking the TRASH folder and rechecking it.
Sometimes if you have another e-mail account besides the ones that your having trouble with, try deleted mail from it and then go back to the trouble account and try again.

I can not delete email messages. The same messages keep coming back instantly.

What seems to have worked for other users in the past.
Delete, then reinstall the email account
    Then sync the iPad.
No one knows why, but it often fixes the problem.

  • Can not delete ICloud email drafts after sending

I can not delete email drafts that showup after sending an email via icloud.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Joeuscg,
I've had this problem before, and there is a way to fix it!
    Mac computer
On a Mac, go to Mail and open Preferences. Go to the 'Accounts' tab and select your iCloud account. Under 'Mailbox Behaviours' you will see a box marked 'Store draft messages on the server'. You need to make sure it is unchecked.
    iOS device
On an iOS device, go to settings and go to the iCloud section. Then, tap 'Account' at the top of the page, and scroll down and tap 'Mail' under 'Advanced'. Scroll down again and tap 'Advanced'. Finally, tap 'Drafts Mailbox' and make sure 'Drafts' under 'On My iPad/iPhone/iPod' is selected.
Essentially, the problem is that Mail is saving drafts of your messages to the server as you write them. The problem occurs when you send the message, and Mail then redownloads the draft from the server. By disabling saving drafts to the server, you are stopping this conflict from occuring.
I hope this helps! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

    Hi tania184,
Have you contacted your email provider to make sure there are no problems on their end? If they say their email servers are working properly, check the outgoing and incoming mail servers entries on your iPhone to make sure both are entered correctly. Enter the outgoing mail server even if the account setup indicates that is optional.

  • I have emails that I can not delete from my Junk mail folder. How do I permanently delete them?

I have emails that I can not delete from my Junk mail folder. How do I permanently delete them?

    Weird.
Someone might stop by who has experienced/fixed/read about this before.  In the meantime...
By "re-indexed my email" do you mean you rebuilt the mailbox via the "Rebuild" command in the Mailbox menu?  Did you try that for all the affected mailboxes?
Also, you might try experimenting with the settings in Mail, Preferences, Accounts having to do with whether junk mail messages are stored on the server and whether they are to be deleted.
Does this behavior persist when you are not connected to the internet?

  • I can not delete an email I get a message218130.emlx" couldn't be copied because you don't have permission to access "Messages"

I can not delete an email I get a message218130.emlx” couldn’t be copied because you don’t have permission to access “Messages”

Actually, the Finder solution did not work for me, but here's what did:
    Quit Mail (for safety's sake).
Open Terminal (it's in Utilities folder usually, but since I updated to ML it's in a folder called Other for some reason)
Once Terminal is open, you'll want to login as ROOT.  You do this as follows:
    Type
    sudo -i
Then hit Enter/Return. You'll be promoted for your system password. Hopefully you'll remember it. Enter your password then hit Enter/Return.
You'll then be at what's known as a root prompt.
At this point BE VERY CAREFUL.  You have the ability at this point to completely destroy your machine beyond repair. Only type what I list below:
To find the folder that contains the email message you'll need to type the following:
    find . -name "218130.emlx"
    Hit Enter/Return
This will take a minute or two but what should appear in the list of other items that appear is something along the lines of the following (it won't be exactly this but will look LIKE this) I've replaced some personally identifying info:
    ./Users/yourname/Library/Mail/V2/POP-youremailaddress@yourmailserver/INBOX.mbox/ 0355DF0D-5E99-4798-B79E-48D71E68AF34/Data/3/2/Messages/23219.emlx
This line describes the location of the offending email. You know what to put yourself into this directory:
    cd /Users/yourname/Library/Mail/V2/POP-youremailaddress@yourmailserver/INBOX.mbox/0 355DF0D-5E99-4798-B79E-48D71E68AF34/Data/3/2/Messages/
    Hit Enter/Return
Notice, I left of the name of the actual email address. You'll need to be sure you type the location EXACTLY or this won't work. You want to be in the Messages folder. You'll know you're there because your Terminal prompt will look something like this:
    Your Name - iMac:Messages
Then just to be sure you're in the right place, type
    ls
    Hit Enter/Return
You should then see something like this:
    iMac:Messages root# ls
    23013.emlx    23096.emlx    23100.emlx    23156.emlx    23210.emlx    23213.emlx    218130.emlx
You'll see the offending message. Now, you delete ONLY this message. Type:
    rm -f 218130.emlx
That's RM at the start above. You'll need to type it in lower case. Be sure that's all you type.
    Hit Enter/Return
You'll should be disappointed at the results because it will look like nothing happened. You can hit ls  and Enter/Return one more time and the offending file should be gone.
EXIT TERMINAL. DO NOT TYPE ANYTHING ELSE. DO NOT "POKE AROUND". THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO EXPLORE. SERIOUS SYSTEM DAMAGE CAN BE CAUSED FROM HERE. EXIT TERMINAL NOW.
Now re-open Mail  - the message will still appear to be in there, but magically, you can delete it. you can also delete it from your Trash for good measure.

  • Can not delete an empty email

    Morning.
I've found an empty email in a local mailbox. In the headers viewer only »Today« is displayed as »Date received«, no subject, no sender, nothing else, and no content.
Mail.app can not display the raw source of this emails and no long headers. And -- most curious -- I can not delete this email. If I try so, the email disappears for a snatch but re-appears instantly.
I've rebuild the mailbox for two times, but the culprit won't disappear.
What can I do to fix this problem?
    TIA and kind regards, Friedrich

A third rebuild of the mailbox did fix the problem.
    For whatever reason.

My first apple id is wrong because my email address was wrong!I can not delete my icloud account because my email address is wrong! Help me please

First go here - https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ and login under the manage tab.  Check your information and be sure it is all correct.
An AppleID is nothing more than an email address, so if you see another email address in the store, then someone has logged in with a different AppleID than yours.  Did you let someone else use your iPhone?

  • Can not delete one email!?!?  it wont let me delete it!

I can not delete a certain email. Each time i click the trash can, it brings me back to the home screen.

Try closing the mail application fully, then rebooting and try again.  To close the app fully, go to your home page.  Double tap your home button to bring up the most recently used apps (task bar).  With your finger hold in on any of the recently used apps till they all start to jiggle.  On the upper left side of each app will be a sign.  Touch the minus sign on the Mail App and it will fully close.  Touch your home button one more time to stop the apps from jiggling and then again to return to your home screen.
To reboot:  Press and hold BOTH the home and power buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.  Once back up, open your mail app and see if you can delete the message.
