  • Where I can find AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.7.3

Support and download pages on apple's portal are giving me run around. Does anyone knows where one can download the AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.7.3 ??

No magic, but I had a real weird situation that I have no way to explain. So when I wanted to upgrade using the airport utility which logically should pull 7.7.1 first and then later 7.7.3, neither would work. I restored to factory defaults in the mena time of this original posting, however pull down menu was not showing 7.7.1 rather it was still displaying 7.6.4, hence why I was so eager to get 7.7.3 binary and do manual upgrade. AS I found the code, before I went about manual process I went into my ~/Library/Applications Support/Apple/AirPort directory to check the version.xml file and voila it showed how I do have 7.7.1 running and installed way back , so then I proceeded the manual process I described above and it worked. You are correct definitely because 7.7.1 was already there, but to for me unknown reason it is not showing on the Airport Extreme and in the drop meny I explained/described, however definitely there and clearly reason I was able to do manual upgrade. In the light of my question and wasted exchanges with the previous poster I didn't describe this part because it was irrelevant  as I was only asking how I can get the code. If I had time to deal with the bigger issue here I would ask Apple, ok why my utility was not pulling 7.7.1 or 7.7.3 and why I had to do all of this to finish simple process that should in reality happen in matter of minutes (I do not have check auto weekly for the code not do I like or trust that feature i.e. don't like auto upgrades...I like to see upgrades done, ppl use it, not report issues and then I do my upgrades). Hope this clarifies it further.
Editing /augmenting my response with a comment - I was even contemplating to complain to apple and reseller I got my device year + ago to possibly replace the unit, but now that it all worked out I am happy.

  • New MacBook Pro can't find the base station

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and AirPort Extreme Base Station. My house is wired for Ethernet so I plugged the Airport Exteme into one of the Ethernet outlets and did the set-up using my old iMac G5 over the network. (I had to download the latest software for the AirPort Extreme to the iMac before this would work right.) I finally got to the point where I got a green light on the Base Station, but when I search with the AirPort Utility on the MacBook Pro it can't find it, even when it is physically only 3 feet away. I then plugged the MacBook Pro into the AirPort Extreme with an Ethernet cable and it saw it - no problem. I then downloaded all the software updates to the MacBook Pro, restarted, unplugged the Ethernet and tried again. The AirPort Utility still can't find the Base Station. I am running 10.4.10 on both machines. I have 10.5, but don't plan un updating until I get this to work. I spent about half an hour listening to Muzak while trying to get to support and finally gave up. Any suggestions?

  • Windows Vista trouble finding airport base station

I recently bought an AirPort Extreme 802.11n. It was easily able to connect it to my mac, but when I try to connect it to my Windows Vista desktop computer, the base station in the airport utility software cannot be found. It finds the internet from the base station, but when I try to connect to it, it says windows cannot connect to the internet. I set up a linksys wi-fi usb, but it still cannot find the base station. The pc is only two years old. Please help.

I had the same trouble with my Vista pc. I had set it up on the Airport Extreme network, but did a firmware update and lost the PC connection. I rolled it back to the previous version, but it was still intermittent or not seeing the Airport at all. I went in to the Airport Utility and changed the Channel setting from Automatic to Manual and selected another channel. This worked and my PC could see the network OK and connect.
I'm still having trouble connecting to my MAC from the Vista Pc, but I can connect to the Vista from my MAC. Both can see the network/internet OK.

  • AirPort Utility not detecting Airport Base Station nor Airport Express

Earlier today, we were listening to music on multiple speakers (computer and airtunes / airport express) as we always do. Nothing new here. Stereo speakers stopped and computer lost connection with Airport Express. Couldn't get it to reconnect. Unplugged airport express and plugged it back in - no dice. Hard restart.....AirPort Utility detected it once and I tried to reconfigure. Got an error message at the end of configuration.....
    Now.....
Airport Utility doesn't even pick up the Airport Express. Not only that, it doesn't pick up the Airport base station, which we use for our internet connection (and I'm using right now). Both are old - Airport base station is the round small anthill looking one (probably about 6 or 7 years old) and airport express is about 5 years old. Never had a problem with either. Airport Utility is 5.4.2.
For now, Airport base station is working, but I don't have access to it via Airport Utility. Airport express just flashes amber......

    Welcome to the discussions!
Not sure what to suggest that you may have not already tried. I would recommend that you start with the base station first to see if you can access the settings in AirPort Utility.
Have you tried connecting an ethernet cable from your computer directly to one of the LAN ports on your base station to see if that will help? Power down your base station and computer before you hook up the ethernet cable. If no luck at first, leave the ethernet cable connected as sometimes the base station will simply "appear" after a few minutes.
If still no luck after several tries, your only alternative is to hard reset the router back to factory defaults and try to reconfigure it.
Once you get the base station back, you can use the same procedure on the Express to see if you can reconfigure it.

  • PB not recognizing Airport base station in airport utility

I have a PB G4 running 10.5.8. The Airport base station is plugged in to a linksys router which is plugged in to a dsl modem.
I unplugged my PB and put it away for 10 days. When I plugged it back in to use it, it would not go online. Nothing had been changed in any of my settings since putting it away 10 days earlier. The Airport utility will not find the airport, yet my network prefs show that I am connected to the airport base station.
In the network pref it says "airport has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet.
But I know the airport is working because I am typing this on a Dell netbook that is connected to the airport right now. And my iPhone is connecting as well.

You'll probably have to reenter the network settings manually. First, I'd remove the main battery and let the PB sit on the AC adaptor for 24-48 hours. If there is any life left in the backup battery (It's one of the few that is rechargeable), that may pump some life back in. However, for future short-term storage (days or a couple of weeks, not months), put it away with a full battery. Also make sure it''s really off and not sleeping.
You may need to ZAP the PRAM to get the system to accept the new settings and connect.

  • My iBook can't find my base station

It seems my iBook decided it no longer wants to connect to my base station, however, it is able to find other base stations in the area. What could be causing this? I have tried rebooting everything. Also, I have checked to make sure no settings or configurations have changed. I am able to connect to the internet from my Power Mac G4, which is connected directly to the airport (and then, of course, the base station is connected directly to the cable modem). I am hoping the Airport isn't half baked!

  • How to make sure I'm the only one who can manage my airport base station using airport utility?

I know we have to use the Airport Utility application to manage the Airport base station in order to create a new network, creating the SSID and chosing the encryption mode and setting the password but how I could be sure I'm the only one who have access to those settings? A user of my network can install the Airport Utility application and change those settings. With other routers like D-Link, to have access to the settings you need to know the admin password to modify the settings. I can't figure out how we can do this with Airport Extreme base station. It's maybe obvious but I'm in the cloud for the moment.

You can set a base station administrator password in order to limit who can administer the base station. With AirPort Utility v6.x, you can set this password on the Base Station tab.

  • Internet works fine, but can't see Airport Base Station w/ Airport Utility

I'm running Windows XP Pro on a Dell Latitude laptop with linksys wireless-n PCMCIA card. I have a Cable Modem running to a Linksys router (cloning a MAC address), running to the Airport Extreme Base Station. Internet works fine (as I type this), but Airport Utility cannot see the Airport Base Station. This has happened repeatedly after hard reset and re-configuration of Airport Extreme Base Station.
Do I have a bad piece of hardware?

After doing a lot of research, this appears to be a pretty common problem for Windows users.
The only thing that has worked for me is to go into the Airport Utility, and under the file menu, click on configure other. Then enter the LAN IP address of your airport extreme. I think the default is 10.0.1.1, although I have a separate router between my cable modem and my airport express providing IP addresses, so mine was different. It didn't always work at first, but now almost every time my base station disappears, if I do this it can be found again.

  • Airport Utility can't find my base stations

I've got an Airport Extreme base station with a printer connected to it - all three of my Macs print to it wirelessly.
Now I'm trying to set up an Airport Express elsewhere in the house for AirTunes. But Airport Utility doesn't see my AE... in fact, it doesn't see the base station either, from any of my computers. I've reinstalled Airport Utility, tried using older and newer versions, and I've never had problems setting up networks before.
I took the AE to a Genius Bar, and it worked right away. So what's going on that I can't set it up on my own (otherwise working) network?

I just had this issue with a Refurbished unit I recently purchased and had to reset the AEX to factory settings.
How long did you wait? Sometimes it takes a while for all the stations to show up in the list.
If nothing else works, you can connect the AEX via ethernet cable.
Click here for more information on joining an AEX to an existing network.

  • Can't Find The Base Station

Or print/connect to the printer, but somehow am connected to the internet via the same base station.
I am about to throw this thing out the window. Any assistance is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sometimes after repeated attempts to "find" the Extreme it helps to power it down for 15-20 minutes and then try again.
If still no luck, the best approach would be to apply a hard reset to return the unit to factory defaults so you can reconfigure it.
There are two methods to hard reset the device. Try 1) first, and if still no luck, go to 2)
    1) With the Exteme plugged into power, hold in the reset button until the amber light blinks rapidly, usually about 5-10 seconds.
    2) Pull the power on the Extreme. Hold in the reset button and continue to hold in it as you plug the power back in. Release the reset button after approximately 10 seconds.

  • TS3274 can not connect printer..error msg can not find airport printer  printer wireless to airport extreme

printer not recognised.  Printer wirelessly  connected to airport extreme.  iPad will not find printer

Thank you so much Paul_31 for your suggestions, HUGELY appreciate the effort
I have reset the printing system, a few times for good measure but nadda.
I have also looked at getting the software from the Apple site after seeing that with Snow Leopard you should let the operating system lead the install not the manufacteurers software as it is most likely out of date.  I too found it wasn't there so I uninstalled the software got up the CLX_3300 series stuff then went from there with the USB cable.  It apparently hasn't worked either
Unfortunately now after using the print utility to scan for a while that has now gone again on the last restart of the Mac.  I am so completely clueless
The box says the printer is compatible, the place of purchase said it was compatible, the Samsung site says it is compatible.
I think it's the set up of my Mac? Our maybe a glitch in the network settings?
    Thanks again

  • Can i control airport base stations with a Motorola Extreme Networks controller?

I currently have a WLAN that uses Airport Extremes, and I am looking for a way to control these centrally.  A vendor is proposing a Motorola Extreme Network with new APs.  Will the Motorola controller work with existing Airports?

As far as I know, the AirPorts can only be administered by using the AirPort Utility. Unless this Motorola offering mimics the AirPort Utility, I would doubt that is would provide an ability to replace it.
However, without additional information on what & how this Motorola Extreme Network is/works, it would be hard to say, whether or not, it would play "nice" with your existing AirPorts. I would also venture to say that this would not be uniqure to Apple router, but other vendor products as well.
