Can not find com.apple.bluetooth.plist

my bluetooth works for a minute and then stops. Can not find it in Preferences and the icon on the top right of my screen is greyed out. I have read some on the site and seems I should have the com.apple.bluetooth.plist file, but I dont.
Please help

Mine is in my User account>Library>Preferences>com.apple.bluetooth.plist
Hey Adam, are you running 10.5.8? Reason I ask, on my SL machines I don't have a com.apple.bluetooth.plist in my ~/Library/Preferences it's in /Library/Preferences
Just figured I'd clarify as the OP has 10.6.2 in their sig line. Why the location of the file changed, beyond me.

  • Can't find com.apple.desktop.plist file in Preferences folder.

I have three desktop spaces, and I have them randomly changing backgroud from a selection of pictures in a folder. To quickly find out which picture was currently use for each desktop, I have a AppleScript that returns some infomation within the com.apple.desktop.plist file. This has been working perfectly fine in Mountain Lion.
However, after I installed the Mavericks (clean install from scratch), my script no longer works. The background images can be changed as before, but there's no com.apple.desktop.plist file exist anywhere in my hard drive.
Does anyone run into similar problems as me? It's driving me nuts! I can't think of any reason that there shouldn't be such a file... Thank you very much!

The returned file name from your terminal command "sqlite3 ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db '.dump' | grep jpg" is the file name of my current desktop picture "Earth and Moon.jpg".
The returned file names from your script:
    set theResult to "Space 1 Wallpaper: ~/Pictures/Background/" & (do shell script"sqlite3 ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db \"SELECT data.value FROM preferences INNER JOIN data on preferences.key=16 and preferences.picture_id=3 and preferences.data_id=data.ROWID\"") & "
    Space 2 Wallpaper: ~/Pictures/Background/" & (do shell script "sqlite3 ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db \"SELECT data.value FROM preferences INNER JOIN data on preferences.key=16 and preferences.picture_id=5 and preferences.data_id=data.ROWID\"") & "
    Space 3 Wallpaper: ~/Pictures/Background/" & (do shell script "sqlite3 ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Dock/desktoppicture.db \"SELECT data.value FROM preferences INNER JOIN data on preferences.key=16 and preferences.picture_id=7 and preferences.data_id=data.ROWID\"")
display dialog theResult buttons {"Done"} default button 1
    are
    Space 1 Wallpaper: ~/Pictures/Background/3439B
    Space 2 Wallpaper: ~/Pictures/Background/5244B
    Space 3 Wallpaper: ~/Pictures/Background/5244B
The return from your terminal command "find ~/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library.photolibrary/Masters -name filename.jpg" is
find: /Users/Peter/Pictures/iPhoto Library.photolibrary/Masters: No such file or directory
The return from your terminal command "
    readlink -f ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.preference.desktopscreeneffect.desktop/69730752/DSKiPhotoRootSource-allPhotosAlbum/9419B" is
    readlink: illegal option -- f
    usage: readlink [-n] [file ...]
I do have a little app (Script) which did exactly what I needed under OS X Mountain Lion but because under Mavericks Apple changed the location of the wallpaper information to a SQLite database this app is not working anymore. I could send you this app if you want but I do not know how to do this via this forum.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • HT5149 Hi, I still have problems reinstalling Final Cut Pro even though I followed these steps. Didn´t find "com.apple.motionapp.plist" to remove though, but the others I found. Reason why I have to reinstall is because I have repaired my Macbook Pro hard

Hi, I still have problems reinstalling Final Cut Pro even though I followed these steps.
Reason why I have to reinstall is because I have repaired my Macbook Pro hard drive at a Mac Authorized Repair.
Short history of repair and my Final Cut Pro installation:
    1. Macbook Pro stopped working, sendt it for repair. Had the Final Cut Pro installed,
    2. Desided to try a MiniMac and recovered my backup with Time Machine, got the Final Cut Pro working.
    3. Got my Macbook Pro back from repair, did backup on this one as well. But this time only the files not the Applications.
    4. Removed the files as mentioned in HT5149. Didn´t find "com.apple.motionapp.plist" to remove though, but the others I found.
    5. When I try to install Final Cut Pro from App Store, it downloads the application as planned. But after download it won´t show in the Application folder nor in the downloads folder, nor will it start an installation prosess. If I pause the installation in App Store, I can see the Final Cut Pro icon in my Dock. (But, as mentioned, after installation it won´t show neither here or in the Applications folder).
Any suggestions on what I should try now?
Thanks for any reply, I´m in deep water here...

Sounds like there is a file you're not getting.  Never do a removal manually.  It's so time consuming and a pain.  There's a very easy and fast way to do this, safely, properly.
Get the free "Final Cut Remover" app from Digital Rebellion (dot com), use this to remove FCP X.
    Reboot the Mac.
    Download from scratch.
If you're not seeing FCP X in your app folder, run Disk Utility to Repair all drives.
If that doesn't help, try running Disk Warrior from Altsoft to repair the directories on all drives.

Windows Vista home additon want let Iclud execute. I went into the DEP program but I can not find the Apple exe file to add as ok. What is the file name?

    Hey,
if you know the name(s) of the root folder(s) you want to access (eg. by making a note on the Windows side) then you can make them appear by just doing Shift-Command-G in Finder ("Go to Folder…"), and entering the full path to the required folders.  You can then navigate all the contents as normal.

  • Can't locate com.apple.PowerManagement.plist

I'm having trouble with a 2007 macbook that keeps restarting from sleeping rather than waking up upon opening the lid and have read this can sometimes be fixed by deleting the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist file but I can't find it in the system folder. Only a "power management bundle." I'm on Snow Leopard for reference. Can anyone help with this? I don't have the computer in front of me personally so I'm just trying to pass it along to who I'm trying to help.

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and provide ~/Library/Preferences/ as the path. If it isn't there, delete the ~ and go to that folder.

  • 802.1x authentication at login not working (com.apple.loginwindow.plist)

We have a number of OSX Macs (10.4.11) in an 802.1x test environment.
All the Macs have been bound directly to a Windows 2003 Active Directory using the Directory Access Utility.
All the clients have been imaged from the same original OSX 10.4.3 image and upgraded to 10.4.11.
We would like the clients to Wirelessly 802.1x authenticate at user login.
Apple provide a useful How-to doc for this purpose:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303471
Great! Well, yes for some systems but not for others. We have two clients running that will not take the above procedure from Apple.
On the working clients the following file has been modified by the procedure above:
    \library\Prefrences\com.apple.loginwindow.plist
On the non-working clients this file does not change.
I assume this may be a permissions issue but just can't figure it out. Any help, advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I still don't know why Internet Connection is not updating com.apple.loginwindow. However, these articles have been helpful:

  • Cant find com.apple.logic10.plist in library preferences

I cant find in my Library preferences "com.apple.logic10.plist"

That is in fact where the com.apple.logic10.plist resides.
    There is a second method.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Remove the  com.apple.logic10.plist  file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro User Manual for details on how to do this.
If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro.
then delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.

    Hi there,
I have a problem, and can not figure out why? I created a portal app using workshop,

any tip or lead, please let me know. Looking forward.....
