"can not find" music

I keep having to "re-add" my music on a regular basis. I store all my music on an external hard drive. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Jake, the same happened to me and I am using a Mac with an external HD connected to my Time Capsule. The issue is not related to Windows or the PC. It is related to Itunes not reconnecting with the external drive. I assume that you see a bunch of ! signs, one by the side of each song.
The way to fix it is to open the external drive BEFORE opening iTunes. Just go to that drive using the OS interface and double click on any folder on that drive or any song. That will re-establish the logical connection with the drive. Once done that, open iTunes and you will see all the songs mapped properly in the library and the cannot find music message should not happen anymore.

Mac Air storage indicates music storage is big but can not find music files

I am going in to check the storage on my hard drive. In the music section it says there is 74.14 GB of storage being used but I am unable to locate the files. I have checked everything that can be checked on this mac and no music. Can you please help. I fequently use Final Cut Pro and I know they render files but there are no music files rendered in there. Especially not to amount to that amount of storage. Please Help.

Download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and open it. It will show all of you files and the respective sizes.

Can not find music files

I moved all my files to an external HD trying to opens up some space and then moved them back, now when I try to open a song either in I tunes (that I have already purchased) or on the computer I get the followoing message: The song “All Your Life” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?

iTunes really, really doesn't like it when you move files yourself in Finder. The best answer requires knowing exact detail of what you did and your folder strucuture. Probably the easiest thing would be to rebuild your library from scratch by adding the relocated media to an empty iTunes library.

If they were put there via iTunes sync process, then simply untick the Music box before syncing again.

ITunes can not find my music on external hard drive

Had to redo my hard drive; had all music on external hard drive; copied iTunes folder onto external hard drive. Now that my desktop hard drive is clean, and new iTunes downloaded, it can not find my music on the external drive which I have always used. Is there some setting I am missing, do I have to copy music onto CPU?

Hold the SHIFT key while launching iTunes. You will get the option to navigate to the iTunes folder on your external drive. In the iTunes folder point it to the iTunes Library.itl file.

iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.
Authorizing a computer does not cause media to magically appear.
Media is only where the user puts it.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

I can not find purshed music on the cloud

I can not find my purchased files on the cloud. I deleted my library in attempte to clean it up. a small part was not backed up. but should have been on the cloud. I look these items up in the itunes store it say "purchased" undrer them. yet they are not under purchased in the cloud.

Move the iTunes folder from <Old User>\Music into <New User>\Music.

When you connect your ipod up to the computer. It should show the device, usually with the name of the device, in my case 'jordan's ipod'. This should be on the row which shows 'songs', 'albums' e.t.c on the far right. There when you click on it it should go to a different screen showing a picture of your ipod along with two buttons - Update and Restore. Click update and it should take a 2 mins while your ipod is updated to the latest version of Ios.
After updating te ipod see if there is a change in results.
PS: make sure the device is active while syncing so keep tapping the screen.

Thanks everyone...the problem seem to be with the battery itself. I've had this phone for about 6 months. Up until a few days ago I had no problems...charge would last for up to 2 days. All of a sudden it draining like crazy. I ran batter doctor and closed everything that could drain the batter. Still no luck. Battery drained 3% in less then 10 minutes.
I've contacted our local Verizon store and they will take care of the problem.
I appreciate everyone's suggestions.
