Can not get on line with new notebook

can not get on line. *we have verizon, *bought new router to see if that was problem. *bought airport express to see if that would help, *my son, bs in computer security, has spent days starting over redoing, *we used his dell notebook to go to apple site (what's wrong with that picture?) it did work for awhile, wanted me to start time machine, but would go on line thru safari? says ethernet cables not connected - he tried 2 different ones. i'm at the point of taking this piece of #$@% back to best buy.

Whoa, slow down. It's hard to understand exactly what's going on when you've explained your issue so unclearly.
Please describe exactly what network setup you have at the moment - you have Verizon DSL? What router are you using, are you wired or wireless, how is the Macbook connected to the network, how are your other computer(s) connected to the network? Let's take it step by step and I'm sure we can find out what's going on.

after the account name input there is button "Change password..." is this account passward function or is this the ax password change function... a little bit confusing.

For 2. & 3. you need to go somewhere other than an apple forum for help. Although you can try deleting lines containing gs.apple.com from your "hosts" file on your computer.

Can't get on-line with Airport Extreem

Hi all,
this is my first post on this forum. I have tried to set-up a wired network using Airport Extreme between a Mac Mini and a G5 1.8 Dual. I was able to see each computer over the network but I could not get internet access.
I tried the unplug every thing route but that did not help. I am hooked up to the internet through a cable modem and can get to the internet without using the Airport Extreme going straight to the ethernet connection on the back of the computers.
What am I doing wrong?

Black screen - can not get in touch with my Ipod Nano

I have an Ipod Nano, latest model. After a short time the monitor shuts down and turns black / standby, can ths be disable?
I use my Nano with the Nike Ipod censor when I run, and it is diffical to get in touch with my Ipod Nano, when the screen after a short time have been black.
Should I see my runningdata or to stop the censor when I'm finishs running, and press the screen nothing happens.
Press I on / off button, so either I get a voice that tells a lot about my run, or push me 2 times on / off button toggles track.
If I press the + or -, I change the volume.
Keeps press on / off button, turn off my Ipod Nano and all my recording of my run is lost ...

I updated to Firefox 4 and it will not work so I can not get on line and it replaced the old firefox so I also lost all my bookmarks. I need them back. How do I get them?

I have a Mc g5 with the 10.4.11 operating system. Your site is my home page and it kept bugging me to update to the firefox 4. So I did now when I try to get on it tells me that that "I can not open this application because it is not supported on this system". It replaced the old firefox that I had so I can not open that. I have no way to get to my book marks and I need them. Let me know how to get back to my old firefox and book marks.

I have stated my problem as clearly as I know how-can not access Mozilla Firefox to the internet or my e mail

While it is true that some things on the internet cannot be done without having the specifically required hardware/software, usually one finds that everything works, although sometimes more slowly. "Not supported" can mean anything from "true doesn't work" to "may work but we have not tested it and therefore say 'not supported'" to the tech is clueless and just tells you "not supported"!!
Most likely, you have not set various internet-related control panels correctly, or maybe all the necessary control panels and extensions didn't get installed (especially if one did a custom installation instead of easy install.) Double check all your settings, as sometimes a stray character or space can upset things.
Are you using a dial-up or a broadband (cable, dsl) connection, as the settings have to be tweaked differently for each?
While an Apple-friendly ISP should not be required, having one is certainly a joy. Go visit www.themacisp.com or www.macdialup.com for a couple which do a good job and have great tech support, or google for others.

Laptop Stolen, now How can I get Ipod working with new computer/disable old

My laptop with my itunes was stolen. I still have my IPOD 30GB.....
I have a new computer, and I think I can download Itunes to it and hook up the ipod and it will be able to load ipod content to the new computer???
Also I am worried, what about the old computer, do i need to DeAuthorize it? How would I do that since I don't have it in my possession?

You can't deauthorise a computer you no longer have access to on it's own. However once you reach the limit of 5 authorisations you have the option once a year to deauthorise them all in one go and start over: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

It shows expected locale name but I don't find any el_GR related files in lib\ext\localedata.jar.
I think maybe I still not find the correct locale supported files.
Could you please tell me where can I find how many locales are avilable in my JRE?

Playstation 3 can't get on wifi with new Airport Express

Hi guys. I got the new Airport Express that was released a few days ago. My Mac and other iDevices all connect fine but for whatever reason my PS3 has issues resolving an IP address or whatever. At first I thought I'd solved it by turning off the only DHCP Reservation I had on (for my iMac) but the next day it's not connecting again.
Unfortunately I'm not much of a networking whiz.
I have it set to DHCP (not Static or PPoE) And I'm not sure what else to share but I'd really like to solve this.
It connected once or twice in attempts so I know neither the Airport Express Base Station nor the Ps3 is broken.
Just totally stumped here. :(

As an update, I noticed that the brief moments when my PS3 would attempt to connect, I would see another IP on my Airport Express Base Station. 10.0.1.3
So, wanting to try something out, I went into DHCP reservations on my AEBS and added a DHCP reservation for 10.0.1.3 and assigned my PS3's MAC address to it. I was able to connect instantly.
However, I've been connected briefly before, so only time will tell if it sticks. At this point I don't consider my situation resolved. Clearly my inability to connect has something to do with IP addresses and maybe the 'dynamic' one the PS3 sometimes gets assigned by the AEBS is something one of my other devices is already blocking or using?
I'm not a whiz at this stuff, so if anyone has any insights as to a good way to set up DHCP reservations so that everything works, I'm all ears.
Would it be wise to take the iMac, AppleTV, 2 iPads, and 2 iPhones and assign them ALL different DHCP reservations so that no one steps on anyone else's toes, so to speak?
