Can not import .mov

I have opened a .wmv file in QuickTime Pro 7 and saved as a .mov file. When I try and open this in iMovie both versions are greyed out; am I missing a vital step in the process?!

I may well have confused myself here! I received a .wmv file and wanted to view it. The Quick Time Player that comes with Snow Leopard will not do this without Flip4Mac. I downloaded the Flip4mac beta for Snow Leopard and indeed the .wmv then played within the email it came in.
Fine so far but then I wanted to edit it and so I purchased the Flip4Mac PlayerPro to enable the import into iMovie09 only then to find this only supports iMovie06. The work around from Telestream is to purchase QuickTime Pro and save the .wmv as a .mov which I did but this was not recognised by iMovie!
With the reply above I have exported as MPeg file and I can indeed now open the file in iMovie 09.
Thank you for the response so far that has achieved the required result but it leaves me puzzled as to whether I ever need to buy Flip4Mac Player Pro or whether QuickTime 7 Pro will play a .wmv and export as an MPeg without any more than the free Flip4Mac utility?

Can not import movies - error 2041 on quicktime

I am trying to import some movies from my pc to my itunes library and it is not working. I get the "processing file" and it looks like they are importing, but when I go to my movie queue (or any other queue for that matter), they are not there. I tried opening the files in quicktime, and I get a ERROR 2041. Is this the reason why they are not importing? Thanks

Download and install QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later on your iMac and see if they will play with that.
As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Trfy to Import the folder of videos into that library. Can you?

I can not import .mov files on each video software, Premiere, AfterEffects and Media Encoder also Photoshop.

...All of them does not import Prorez or other Quicktime files. I m run Yosemite 10.10.2 with Prorez codecs vrs. 2.

i've been trying to import a QT movie created in After Effects. Will not import. FCX keeps crashing.

What does that mean? You mean it has a red bar across the top? How does the application tell you it's rejected?
You'd better have plenty of RAM, a fast processor, and a fast drive to support 1080p Animation.

Just a recent problem. Use to be able to import video fine. Now no video clips come up when you try to import form camcorder, or to import from archives.

Can not add movies to the iTunes Library

I have an iMAC running iTunes 10.4 on s install of Lion. I have had this problem with previous versions of OS/X and iTunes. I have the exact same problem on Windows.
I just can not import a movie to the library. I've used File>Import as well as drag&drop. In both cases, nothing happens; no message of any kind, no progress bar, nothing. The movie is not copied. I have tried multiple file types (avi, mp4, mv4 etc) with the same problem. I can import music fine. Just no movies.
One time, a couple days ago, I used the drag and drop and worked; I have no idea why; Trying to import the same movie results in the same 'nothing happens'.
Any thoughts/suggestions on how to get this working? It is so annoying that there is absolutely no message of any kind popping up anywhere to indicate what the heck is going on.
I'm guessing it may be something to do with unsupported file types. But why no message, and why it did work just a couple of days ago?

To address at least part of the problem, confirm is that the videos are in a format iTunes can accept and play. AVI is not one of them, for instance. See:

Note that there are non-standard formats that still use the .mp4 file extension. iTunes supports only industry-standard MPEG-4 movies, not the offshoots created by some encoders such as Microsoft's.
Why a movie that worked previously is not working now, though, I don't know. Just to confirm, will that movie play in QuickTime Player?

YES Terence! Thank you. Exporting allowed me to move my photos from iPhoto into the Burn Folder on my desktop. But that doesn't explain why I'm having to go that route now. Have I done something (accidentally changed some setting) on my computer that will not allow me to just click and drag anymore? I really liked the convenience of the click and drag option.
I don't have the time tonight to export and burn a lot of CD/DVDs. I'll try that tomorrow and make sure my photos are moving properly. I also need to export photos to my external hard drive to make sure that route is working.
Wouldn't you know that my Apple Care Plan runs out this Wednesday?! I need to make sure everything is working properly before that expires.

Can not import Outlook 2007 .CSV or .PST files into Outlook 2013 on Win 8.1 64 bit

I have a new computer (Sony VAIO Pro 11 Ultrabook) with a brand new install of Win 8.1 - 64 bit and MS Office 2013 Professional Plus. Everything works fine EXCEPT I can not import my contacts or calendar from Outlook 2007 Win 7 - 32 bit into the
.msn folders in each case. I can open .pst files in Outlook 2013 but they open in a local file and when I copy and paste them into the Exchange ActiveSync .msn contact and calendar files so that they will sync with Outlook.com Outlook 2013 crashes.
It can't even be reopened unless the wireless is turned off, and then you have to create a new data file as a default and then delete the old account and re-establish it. I have tried using the import functions as well with both
.CSV and .PST files that were exported from Outlook 2007 and an error message stating that this is not supported comes up. I have also tried to turn on sync with my iPhone to see if the files will sync from the phone through Outlook.com and nothing happens
there either - no sync on the web and nothing at the PC. Email works fine after adding the account again etc.
None of the procedures on the forums work (open PST file in the local folder then copy/paste, drag/drop, or move the files) so please don't respond with those links. All result in crash. Does anyone at MS know what's up with their latest
and greatest SW?

Import the calendar and contacts in Outlook.com. For contacts, export from Outlook as csv and import into Outlook by choosing the Other option (https://people.live.com/import/other?biciid=ImportCatalog)
You'll need to save the calendar as an ics file to import it. Select the calendar folder, the File, Save as an save as an ics.

I shoot fishing footage of big catches. Slow motion playback appears to me to be much better when shot it 60p even compared to 60i. It also blows away all of the other formats for a "still" grab. Thank you for your help as I did a search and downloaded Clip Wrap which converted the files to .mov and they actually do import the full 60 frames. Thank you again for your reply.

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

Hi, by default you can only add M4V, MP4 and MOV files. Simply drag and drop them into your library. If you have videos in other file formats (like AVI or MKV) you have two solutions: convert them with a tool like HandBrake. That takes a lot of work and time. Or you use a dedicated tool to import movies in iTunes. I use VideoDrive (www.aroona.net) for this. It will create small references to your videos in iTunes. And it will also add descriptions and covers so they look as nice as officially purchased movies. Keep in mind that if you do not convert the videos, they will not play on iOS devices. VideoDrive (and some others) to support conversions as well. So you always have the choice.
In my case, I add the videos without conversions so they are nicely categorized in iTunes. And the videos I do want to watch on my iPad, I convert later on. You can do this by selecting a video in iTunes and clicking File -> Create new version. Or use the 'Duplicate Video' feature of VideoDrive. I can imagine that this is overkill if you only have a couple of videos, but if you have a lot, it's great to have them all showing up with artwork in iTunes.

Premiere pro will not import .mov files

Premiere pro CS3 running on Vista 64 bit will not import .mov files. After Effects CS4 has the same problem, it says I don't have the correct version of Quick Time installed. I'm using the 64 bit version 7.6.4 for Vista. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
Now, what is inside that .MOV "wrapper?" This ARTICLE will give you some background on "wrappers." It is mainly written with .AVI in mind, but translates to most AV file formats, including .MOV.
Now, I use a lot of .MOV files and these are all done in the Animation CODEC. Never an issue for me.
One thing that might aid you is the US$30 upgrade/unlock key to QT Player Pro. It can Export as a bunch of useful formats/CODEC's. Depending on whether your footage is SD, or HD, you can Export most to formats that play perfectly with PrPro.
