Can not import photos from my Nikon D810

I recently bought the new Nikon D810. I just spent all weekend with it and got some fantastic images.
So naturally I came home and immediately went to import them. I'm also using Lightroom 4.
and I had no image previews, so I thought to myself perhaps I'll get to see them after they finish importing and it just needs to recognize it's a new camera and not my D7000.
But nope! just as all my images finish I get this error pop up saying it does not recognize the Raw files I am importing.
I just googling and you tubing the problem but not real answer on whats is wrong,
So can I expect a update for Lightroom 4 really really soon? or do I listen to random people online saying to try out "whatever other random company" But I enjoy Lightroom. I been using it for 4 years and I like how it flows and and everything is easy to organize. It's a great program.
But if it isn't going to function with my D810 then it's almost a pointless program to me from here on out. I'd prefer to keep using Lightroom, preferably not having to go out and purchase the new Lightroom 5.
Anyway you make a really good program I would love to continue to use it, so any feedback on updates or troubleshooting guide would be much appreciated.

Do they ever get that advanced information?
Yes, I recently bought a Sony DSC-RX100 M3 and by the time it was released the Camera RAW team already had RAW support in ACR 8.5, if I remember correctly RAW support in ACR 8.5 was in the release candidate on 2 June (final 18 June with LR 5.5) but the camera wasn't released until June 26
Obviously the RX100 M3 isn't a DSLR, but it is a pretty powerful compact that compliments my Canon equipment, but it shows there must have been cooperation between Adobe and Sony as although the camera was an upgrade to the M2 it had a new processor and lens.  Well done Camera RAW team!

Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. So downloading the latest Camera Raw didn't do anything at all for you. The only way to update or upgrade Lightroom is to obtain the latest version. If you have Lightroom 4 then the last version of Lightroom you can have at no additional cost is Lightroom 4.4.1. If the camera you are using requires anything newer than what is supported and that version of Lightroom then it will require an upgrade to Lightroom 5.

I used Nikon Transfer to transfer the photofiles from the CompactFlash (by card reader) to my IMac.
As DJ said, this could be your problem.  If you still have the photos on the card transfer them WITHOUT using Nikon Transfer (then I would delete Nikon Transfer so I wouldn't use it again).  If you don't have the originals than this may help.

  • I can not import photos from PC to my Ipad, it says iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPad

I can not import photos from my PC to the iPad, it says  iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPad

YES Terence!  Thank you. Exporting allowed me to move my photos from iPhoto into the Burn Folder on my desktop.   But that doesn't explain why I'm having to go that route now.   Have I done something (accidentally changed some setting) on my computer that will not allow me to just click and drag anymore?   I really liked the convenience of the click and drag option.
I don't have the time tonight to export and burn a lot of CD/DVDs.  I'll try that tomorrow and make sure my photos are moving properly.  I also need to export photos to my external hard drive to make sure that route is working.
Wouldn't you know that my Apple Care Plan runs out this Wednesday?!  I need to make sure everything is working properly before that expires.
Thank you so much for your help.   I really, really appreciate it.

  • Can not import photos from iPhone

I am no longer able to import photos from my iPhone 6+ with iPhoto. I get the error Unreadable Files. The following files could not be imported. The file is in an unrecognized format.
    IMG_0001.JPG.
That is for the eight pics I have on my iPhone.

    Amend to my post!
I am having the problem with Yosemite 10.10.1 not 10.7.

  • Can not import photos from camera to iPhoto

When I connect my camera to import photos, I get a message with a red stop sign that has an exclamation mark in the center saying, "The disk inserted was not readable by this computer". It then asks if I want to initialize, ignore, or eject the disk.
I have a Panasonic DMC-FX33 Lumix camera and it worked fine until I updated my Intel Mac Pro to Snow Leopard and iPhoto 09. It still works fine on my Intel laptop that has OSX 10.5.8 and iPhoto 6 (6.0.6).
Does anyone know the solution to this problem?

    That is a bit odd.
_Import all the picture off the camera using the other computer (you can transfer them to the other computer later).
_Using the camera, reformat the media card
_Take a snap shot and test with the new computer again
__If it works there was something off in the formatting of the media card

  • After upgrading to Lion and iPhoto 11 I can't import photos from my Nikon D60 Any more.

    Can you help?
    Thanks!

Cable to the camera.  Directly to the USB port in the cmputer.  Not through a hub.
Oh dear.  I just tried syncing my iPhone and it doesn't even show up as a device.  I think I have bigger problems with this upgrade.  It appears that the reason my photos are not importing is that Lion does not recognize any device I plug in....

  • Can not import photos from Canon camera to iphoto '11

When connecting my Canon to iphoto '11 I click on the "Import photos" button and get the following message:
    Unreadable files: 113
The following files could not be imported. The file is an unrecognized format.
This is the first time this has ever happened to me. I've done nothing different that I'm aware of. They are all jpegs.
    Any ideas?

I just had the same issue with an S-90 (I also have never had this problem before.) and had to use a card reader (my iMac has one built in) instead of importing through the camera.  The built-in card reader worked with no problem.

  • How can I import photos from a Nikon P520 into I photo 11

I have previously hooked the camera up to a powered USB , turned the camera on and it opened I photo 11.  I was able to import and edit the photos in I photo.  I tried this process now and I do not get I photo to open, the camera does not appear in the connect column and I cant import any pictures.  I can still edit those did a week ago No settings on the camera or machine have changed.

Launch Image Capture and then connect the camera to to your Mac.  Check to see if the camera is recognized by Image Capture.  If it is upload the photos to a folder on the Desktop.  Then reformat the memory card with the camera (not the Mac), take some test shots and try it with iPhoto again.

  • As of a few days ago, I can no longer import photos from my Nikon Coolpix s7c into iPhoto. Never before had a problem. (it is the version prior to iPhoto 11--all Apple software is UTD)

As of a few days ago, I can no longer import photos from my Nikon Coolpix s7c into iPhoto '08. Never before had a problem.  I sent a request to Nikon for help and they referred me back to Apple.  Help, if possible, please.

As the photos imported to the test library you know that it works with your version of iPhoto (so, you can skip the paranoia about Apple making you upgrade). The issue then is the Library, so
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download <a href="http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/"><b><u>iPhoto Library Manager</b></u></a> and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

I can't import photos from a card, file or anything.  I get "could not copy a file to the requested location".  I have never had this happen before.  I use a MacBook Pro

I also have the exact same issue.  New IMac, installed LR, imported approximately 900 photos no problem, across the network from a Windows PC.   The import stopped when the network connection was lost.   Now I cannot import for the same reason "could not copy a file to the requested location".  I have plenty of disk space and i have permission to the needed folders.   I cannot even import from a folder already on the IMac.

  • Can't Import Photos From Nikon D3 on iPad

Is anyone else having trouble importing photos from a Nikon D3 to an iPad 3G? I have no trouble importing from a Nikon D70 but when I connect my D3, it just says "No Photos To Import" but there are 30 in there?

On the D3 do you have RAW (NEF) and Jpeg or only (RAW) NEF selected?
The follow was snipped from an article at MacWorld, you may wish to read the article.
What does it do with Raw files?
With the camera connector kit, the iPad can upload and store raw image files such as .nef (Nikon) and .cr2 (Canon). While there isn't any way to edit or work with those raw files on the iPad at this time, the iPad does create an optimized JPEG version of each image. You can use that image the same way as you would any other kind of photo on the iPad; include it in slideshows, e-mail it, or edit it in third-party apps. Your original file remains un-altered and will transfer to your computer exactly as it was on the camera or SD card. These features should allow photographers to use the iPad as a storage, preview, and transfer device for their raw files.
The optimized JPEG that they refer to is 2048-by-1360 resolution and if you use the mail function within the IPad Iphoto app, this is the resolution that is sent.
    Cheers,

    Please help, somebody.

I have the exact same issue, but with a standard IMAP account and SMTP.  My iPhone can send out, using the EXACT same settings, from the exact same WiFi connection...but the 10.8 MacBook cannot send at all.  The only account I can send out on is my iCloud account.
I have also tried all the steps above...no luck.
I have also turned off all network filters and firewalls...no luck.  (And as I said above, my iPhone is on the exact same WiFi connection and using the exact same settings, and it can send fine.)
Other messages I've found via Google have suggested simply forcing the SMTP server to use Port 25, but that didn't work for me either.
