Can not install a Windows ISO in Boot Camp

I created a partition for Boot Camp and I am ready to install Windows. Downloaded a trial Windows 7 ISO from MS and copied to a flash drive. Boot Camp does not recognize the ISO and is looking for an installation disk. How can I Install the downloaded ISO?

Hi NCMau,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are trying to install Windows using Bootcamp on your Apple computer. I understand you are using a trial version of Windows as well. To install Windows via Bootcamp on your Apple computer, Windows must be the full version. Please refer to the attached article for further information.
Mac Basics: Using Windows on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support
Requirements
To use Boot Camp, you need:
An Intel-based Mac with a built-in keyboard, external USB keyboard, or an Apple supplied wireless keyboard, and a built-in trackpad, USB mouse, USB trackpad, or Apple supplied wireless mouse or trackpad.
Mac OS X v10.5 or later.
The latest firmware updates available for your Mac.
Boot Camp Assistant, which is located in /Applications/Utilities/ . You can also open Launchpad and type Boot Camp Assistant in the search field.
A DVD or downloaded (ISO) "full version" of Windows installation media. Boot Camp does not include Windows.
For additional requirements, see Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows

  • Can quickbooks 2012 for windows run on boot camp?

I just bought the new macbook pro, and was wondering if I can run Quickbooks 2012 for windows on the boot camp using windows?

Yes. But first you have to install Windows.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Can not install OEM Windows 7 64 bit on iMac 24"

I have a late 2006 iMac 24" white. I have installed Lion with Boot camp 4.0. I am attempting to install Windows 7 64 bit OEM. At Step 3 "Install Windows" of the Installation and Setup Guide the system does not start the Windows 7 installer. Please Help!

I found another thread about running Windows 7 64 Bit on systems other than in a list provided by Apple. I ran the suggested Terminal Command with the following result:
    george-halls-imac:~ georgehall$ ioreg -l -p IODeviceTree | grep firmware-abi
        | |   "firmware-abi" = <"EFI32">
Does this mean that I can not run 64 Bit Windows 7 on my system? Do I need to upgrade the firmware? Can I change this parameter and get the system to boot the Windows 7 install disk?
My System is an iMac 24" white (late 2006), 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB mem. NVIVIA GeForce 7600 GT

  • WINDOWS ISOs and BOOT CAMP : PERHAPS A SOLUTION ?

    Hello to everybody,
I think, after searching a lot, that it is not an ISO that you have to burn on a DVD, so that Boot Camp recognizes it as a Windows Installation DVD. An ISO is an uncompressed image, that contains files, folders, etc.
    Here's what I found last night :
and on bottom of page :
"PowerISO for OSX -- This is a free utility for Mac OSX  which can extract, list, and convert image files (including ISO, BIN, DAA, and other formats).  Type " poweriso -? " for detailed usage information.  File Size: 243KB   Download Now".
So did I, and obtained that file : "poweriso-1.3-osx.tar.gz".
Clicking on it to uncompress it, I had this result in a folder :
"poweriso", which is an Unix Executable File (791 KB)
You only have to place any ISO at the same place as "poweriso", click on ISO,
and all files contained in it (which is an uncompressed image) appear.
In my case, I clicked on my "WINDOWS 7 ENTERPRISE VL ENGLISH RTM X64.iso",
and here are the 9 main items I obtained, and I think that's what is needed by Boot Camp
to recognize a Windows Install DVD :
    — 1 : "autorun.inf" (4KB) ;
    — 2 : "boot" (folder, 16.632.708 B for 15 items), containing 9 main items ;
    — 3 & 4 : "bootmgr" and "bootmgr.efi" (Unix Executable File(s)) ;
    — 5 : "efi" (folder), containing "microsoft" (folder), containing "boot" (16.062.724 B, folder), containing … etc.
    — 6 : "setup.exe", 111 KB (Windows Self-Extracting Archive) ;
    — 7 : "sources" (3.026.787 B, folder), containing 166 items (in Finder window bar) of all kinds, 923 items in Get Info ;
    — 8 : "support" (33.804.337 B, folder), containing 3 folders, 105 items in Get Info ;
    — 9 : "upgrade" (42.107.825 B, folder), containing 1 folder, 5 items in Get Info.
Unfortunately, I can't succeed, after burning under different settings (with Toast 10.0.7 Titanium)
5 DVDs with those files on them, to obtain a Windows 7 Installation Disk
that Boot Camp would recognize, IN THE END.
Am I using the right application ? I've a lot of other burning DVDs apps,
and I've also seen somewhere that Disk Utility could be used, but does it open ISOs, because I think it's the contents that matters.
I've only tried, for the moment, ISO 9660 settings (several options). Does anyone have any idea(s), suggestion(s) ? Is there a file that you think could be MISSING ? Of course, I tried not to bore you with all details of the contents of files.
Please, tell me if you have ANY info about how I must do, which ISO 9660 options I have to choose (Joliet, Mac names),
am I right using ISO 9660 rules, do I have to REMOVE or ADD anything etc. ? Should I (and could I, under OS X) MODIFY any text as we use to do sometimes in Terminal ?
I wonder also having found Mac stuff in different places : "bootfix.bin" _(MacBinary Encoded File)_ was in "boot" folder, and "efisys_noprompt.bin" and "efisys.bin" _(MacBinary Encoded File(s)) were in "efi"/"microsoft"/"boot" folder.
Why are these files in a Windows ISO ? Were they created by poweriso (for OS X) when opening ISO ?
Do I have to burn Boot Camp 3.1 for Windows (provided by Apple) on the Windows Install DVD ?
I think it serves AFTER installation, or do I make a mistake ?
*Another question :* why should I let Boot Camp create a (FAT32 formatted) 32 GB partition (in fact, it creates more if you verify, and it shouldn't), when I know that, when installing, Windows 7 Enterprise will format his space with NTFS ?
Wouldn't be more clever to afford it 50 GB, for example, and what exactly does Boot Camp when you decide the Windows partition to be greater than 32 GB ?
Thank you very much in advance for any help, even the shadow of a clue !
    With my kind regards,
    Olivier Herrbach
PS : I hope this text will not be considered as an already posted problem. If it is so, I sincerely apologize.

It's a simple matter to burn a bootable .ISO image to a DVD using Disk Utility or Toast.
if Boot Camp fails to recognize your DVD then it's either not a bootable disc or the DVD was not created properly. I've burned Windows 7 disc images to DVD several times and they have always worked. But if you have an upgrade image then they are not bootable. You must instead have a previous version of Windows - Vista or XP - installed in order to use an upgrade disc.
To properly burn an image file to a DVD using Disk Utility do the following:
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select Burn from the Images menu.
    3. Locate the .ISO file you want to use in the File Open dialog.
    4. Click on the Burn button.
You will be prompted to insert a blank disc if one is not already in the drive. When the blank DVD is recognized the Burn button in the DU window will activate.

  • Apple wireless Mighty Mouse not working in Windows XP Pro/Boot Camp

I was able to get Windows XP Pro to install successfully on my new iMac, but I can only get a wired Microsoft USB mouse to work with it. When I boot to WinXP with just my wireless Mighty Mouse, the wireless mouse is completely unresponsive. Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a solution? Thanks!

  • Why is my numeric keyboard not working on windows 7 via boot camp?

What ever I use the numeric keypad on the Apple Wired Keyboard on Windows 7 boot camp. It does not work. I have to use the number on the above of my letter case part. I tried using the numeric keys on calculator or games. It functions more like fn, home, page down, page up. WTH? Why is it functioning like the keys between the numeric keypad and keyboard? The drivers installed just fine and I got all the windows updates along with apple updates. I even went to keyboard options in boot camp control panel and it still does not work.

Here is your answer - just found it on MacRumors as I was experiencing the same problem. Ready - got a pen and pencil available: Hit "Clear" lol, yup, that is your on off button for the numeric pad. :-) Be sure to share with others.
The "Clear" Button is located above the number  7. 65431354684318643516879 <---- numerica keypad fun.

  • [24" Imac, 10.5.3] Can't install Vista Home Premium on Boot Camp

I'm having problems getting Boot Camp to run Vista.
I set up a 32 GB Boot Camp partition with Boot Camp Assistant, and encountered no problems. Stuck in my full version of 32-bit Vista Home Premium (includes SP1), and then continued with the installation. iMac reboots, drive spins, and then all I'm left with is a black screen with a dos cursor blinking in the upper left corner. Doesn't respond to keyboard or mouse input. Will reboot into OS X no problem. Below is a list of the things I've tried to resolve the problem, but non have made any difference.
    * Booted from Vista DVD while holding down "c"
    * Turned off wireless Mighty Mouse & rebooted
    * Plugged MS wired mouse into keyboard & rebooted
    * Removed all attached USB and FireWire peripherals & rebooted
    * Ran Boot Camp Assistant, deleted partition, created new 32 GB partition, rebooted
    * Ran Boot Camp Assistant again, deleted partition, created 60GB partition, rebooted
    * Consulted apple.com/support/bootcamp and found nothing helpful
    * Consulted Support Discussions and could not find any threads dealing with the problem I'm experiencing
Does anyone know how to solve this pesky problem? Advice and suggestions welcome.
    Thanks,
    R

I would never go back to Vista, forums are where people ask for help. If you looked at the Leopard OS X forum you would definitely never want to upgrade or use Safari or TimeMachine or worry what the next Security Update or to iTunes harbors.
Upgrading from Vista is supported but backup first, and a clean install is always going to be best. And the same goes for even Tiger to Leopard. Also needs to be the same 32 or 64-bit, going from one to the other is not supported.
Some systems, and keyboards and such, are better supported than others. Windows 7 has support for a wide range of current hardware already.

  • Numerical keypad not functioning in Windows partition of Boot Camp

Unlike other users, the new keyboard is working fine in Windows -- mostly. Any ideas on why the numerical keypad on the far right isn't working? Is there a "Num Lock" key that I need to press when on the Windows side? If so: where? Can't find it on the keyboard.
Also: does anyone know if one of the software applications (Parallels or VM Wave Fusion 2) is able to mediate these hardware issues?

  • UNABLE or CAN NOT Install Printer, Windows 8 calls it a Kernel Mode Driver

    Very similar to
    this thread.
None of the provided solutions work.  I wish I could get a screenshot, but this is a computer I was working on for a friend and won't be back there for a couple of days.
    Things I have tried:
Download absolute latest Windows 8 x64 Driver from HP's website for the specific printer in question (hp laserjet pro color m251nw).  Tried both "driver only" and "full installation" downloads.
Told Windows to use a driver from Windows Update.
There is no Citrix based application to uninstall anywhere on the computer.
The computer is Windows 8 "standard" - so using GPEdit to Disable "Disallow installation of kernel-mode printer drivers" was not an option (although I did use a
3rd party GPEditor to try to modify this setting anyway, to no avail).
I used Advanced Startup to boot without Driver Signature Verification.
Disabled Anti-Virus software to ensure it wasn't preventing installation.
I ensured the local user on the computer had full permissions to the Devices and Printers menu.
I tried to install everything using "Right Click / Run as Administrator"
I tried to install using both Windows 7 and XP SP3 Compatibility Modes.
I have ensured there are no files in the Print Spools folder (C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers\). and reset the print spooler.
I am able to ping the network printer and it prints test pages, I do not believe there to be a problem with the printer itself, just some strange setting causing me all of these problems.
HELP!  I'm an IT Pro but I spent 3 hours on this and I'm not used to being utterly defeated!
Thanks in advance for any and all advice!!!!
Don't forget, if you find the help you need, click the "Propose as Answer" link at the bottom of the post containing the solution!
    NuAngel.net

    I wish I could get a screenshot
What are the chances of it being a bogus message?  For that reason and others I would be running ProcMon to find, correlate and supplement any and all diagnostics which are being produced.  Filter with  Operation Is WriteFile.  You
need to infer which WriteFile  corresponds with which message but that is relatively easy because the Detail contains a close approximation to each message's length.  In any case, you get to see all the files that were involved and easy access to
    them.
    Good luck
