Ive recently purchased a graphics and design app however i can not open the app. finding this really frustrating.

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.

Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet

Can not open app store on macbook pro/imac after installing Mavericks

I have just installed Mavericks on both a Macbook Pro and an iMac. I use the same Appleid on both.
But now I can not open App Store
I have tried clicking on the App Store symbol in the dock, starting it from the program folder in a Finder window, and starting it from the Apple menu. The result is the same: Nothing happens except that the menubar that was active before the attempt becomes inactive (dark). There is no App Store Window, and no App Store menubar.
I have one idea why this happens. I removed the "OS X Mavericks" from the list of downloads/purchases in App Store by misstake before I installed Mavericks. If that is the problem how can I solve it?

Ok, now it works again. I got a Notice that I could update some applications and I answered that I wanted to do that. Then, when I tried to start App Store the menubar showed up but no window. I choosed "Windows - Minimize", exited App Stored and started it again. And now it works - on both computers!

IF you get app update notifications, are you able to use the App Store from the Updates Tab? Try closing the App Store and reset your iPad. You will not lose any data.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

If you are speaking of the USB 3.0 Canvio, you are not alone. Call Toshiba and check on their progress in alleviating the problem. I heard they are blaming Apple, but since theirs is the only drive that exhibits this problem, I think the burden is on Toshiba.
Some users have reported that by using a micro USB 2.0 connector (see bottom picture), instead of the 3.0 that comes with the drive, that it is a workaround. Notice that the 3.0 connector has sort of a "dual head" nature to the construction. One part of it is 2.0 USB micro compatible. I've never tried it myself though.

Lanny here are the startup key sequences on wired keyboards to know for future reference:
SHIFT - safe boot.
command-S single user mode to run fsck
command-R to run a recovery boot.
command-option-P-R to reset the PRAM on Macs younger than 4 years, or whose PRAM battery is younger.
command-option-O-F to boot into open firmware.
D key to boot hardware test on an Intel Mac - for pre-July 20, 2011 Macs, this means having the original installer discs.
Option key - Startup Manager.
Option = Alt key on Windows keyboards.
Command key may be Windows key on Windows keyboards, or cloverleaf or Apple logo key on Apple keyboards.

I feel your pain. My firm's IT guy finally found a solution, no thanks to Apply or iTunes, though it evidently is/was a Windows issue. Go to "My Computer," click "Properties." in the "System" window, click on "Advanced system settings," that brings up the "System Properties" window. Click on the "Advanced" tab, then click the "Environment Variables" button. Find and highlight the "Path" variable in the "System Variables" section. Click "Edit" to bring up the "Edit System Variable" window. I can't open apps on my macbook pro

I can't open some of apps like iphoto, keynote, ilol(this is most important one).
If I trying to open, computer just shut down and restart.
Some people suggest me to format mac os x and reinstall so I did it but still doesn't work.
what should I do?

Try booting into Safe Mode - restart whilst holding down the Shift key. It will take a bit longer to boot and your machine will not be as responsive as when you log in 'normally'. If you can open apps in Safe Mode, you might be having problems with some kernel extensions. Try Safe Mode first and then we'll look at the non-Apple kexts that may be loading.
