Can not open database - 10g

Dear experts,
I have a problem to open my database. ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress. I have restarted server many times. I tried several ways but no joy. Please see the steps I did to solve this -

You have the following choices to free up space from
flash recovery area:
1. Consider changing your RMAN retention policy.
If you are using dataguard, then consider changing your
RMAN archivelog deletion policy.
2. Backup files to tertiary device such as tape using the
RMAN command BACKUP RECOVERY AREA.
3. Add disk space and increase the db_recovery_file_dest_size
parameter to reflect the new space.
4. Delete unncessary files using the RMAN DELETE command.
If an OS command was used to delete files, then use
RMAN CROSSCHECK and DELETE EXPIRED commands.

  • Can not open database "Master" requested by the login

    Hi everyone,
I meet an issue when I set up bpc on my customer's production server. When the installing process arrives at "create sample database", there will be an error message "Error(A file activation error occured. The physical file name 'Can not open database "Master" requested by the login. The login failed. \Data\Apshell.mdf maybe incorrect. Diagnose and correct additional errors, and retry the operation." Then I check the database, the Apshell is not built. The sql server version is sql server 2008. Do you have some good suggestions about this issue? Thank you.

    Hi Robert,
Please check the collation of your SQL Server.
It must be SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS (specified like requirement into installation guide).
I think this is the issue in your case.

  • Can not open oracle 10g OracleXE file

I have tried to open the OracleXE and was unable to. I have windows XP and it says that it can not open a mime type file. Is there another format that will work?

Your browser may be helping a bit too much, check the file name extension.
Try using Windows Explore, locate the downloaded file and ensure you've got the .exe file, for 10g size should be about 210MB, something like that.
Turning off the "Hide Extensions for known file types" option can be helpful (under Tools/Folder Options/View tab).
    And there are forums for specifically for XE, {forum:id=251} and {forum:id=1378}

Then tried to startup database - got the below status message. Could not start up

You have to STARTUP MOUNT and take the tablespace that M23.DAT belongs to offline... probably OFFLINE IMMEDIATE.
Once you do that you may ALTER DATABASE OPEN. Then you can replace your data file with a backup and use the recover command to recover the tablespace IF you are in archive log mode. If you are not in archive log mode, you'll have to drop the tablespace, recreate it and hopefully you have an export file of its contents you can import.

  • Can not open database control in oracle 11g r2, listener issues

    Hi,
I installed Oracle 11g r2 database on my laptop for testing. at beginning everything was fine and working. 2 days later i am unable to run oracle database control.. i get page not found!
I tried all the tricks and read almost 200 pages from oracle documentation, none of this was even close to help!
(by the way oracle documentation is a fail in my opinion, it really tend to complicate things so much and talk about things not related to what a developer want to read about, its even hard for professional programmer to keep up with this, I started to hate dealing with Oracle before even going deep!!)
I tried deleting database and creating new database i get the following warning:
    - Enterprise manager configuration failed due to the following error:
listener is not up or database service is not registered with it. start listener and register database service.. etc.
Some how after few hours the control is working but the database is not there, and it shows that the listener is up, but database is down.
I tried creating a new database, but i get the error above (it seems its created but not linked to listener!!)
I guess what triggered this error is running xampp, i was also working in php project and ran xampp for test, since then oracle is corrupted!
any help would be appreciated (please don't send me links to oracle documentation because its useless and not straight to the point)

anyway, now am getting new error: ORA-00020: maximum number of processes (150) exceeded

I tried deleting oracle 11g via universal installer i get message saying run the command c:\...dbhome_1\deinstall\deinstall

The access database is 1.4 gb, but still getting this error when tried run a make table query, but the Select query works fine, what could be the reson?
Thanks for any help and support

Repair the db in Access. If this does not help report to the Access forum on answers.microsoft.com - this error is not from ADO.Net but the Access driver.

    Aftershotz,
You're going to have to give a bit more information.
What do you mean by "opening a file in library?"  There is no function of Aperture to open files -- you can open (switch) libraries.
You'll have to be more specific about error messages, too.  Perhaps some screenshots would be useful to diagnose your problem.  "Can't open database with library name" is not enough detail about what Aperture is really telling you.

  • About 1356 ERROR:pifreg:can not open registry database error

I test the simpsver using simpclw run on the same machine, the simpsver seen to
run normally. After config the correct network option,I test the simpsver on the
different machine using simpclw, now I get the "1356 ERROR:pifreg:can not open
registry database error" ,the action bea suggested is "Make sure that the directory(default
TUXDIR/udataobj) is not on an NFS mounted filesystem that does not support file
locking", but in fact bea client is installed on a local file system (ext2)!

Are you saying you are getting an error while trying to crosscheck at mount?  Or you simply don't believe it will work?

  • I can not open an citadel database whit diadem

i can not open an citadel database whit diadem, the diadem shown error number 104 , "unable to connect to specified server . what have i to do ?

    Hi Ramatajama,
Most likely you are just missing one simple step, which is to turn on the Citadel service that allows any client, such as DIAdem, to get to the data in the Citadel database.
You do not have to have the Citadel database on the same computer that DIAdem resides on, but you DO have to go to "NI Service Manager" on the DIAdem computer and "start all services". Usually the NI Service Manager icon shows up in your system tray at the far bottom right of your computer screen.
Ask again if this isn't enough info,
    Brad Turpin

From the hightlighted lines, it seems I was able to login... using JPAHI80 userid.... but all I see in the webpage is the error.
Following the suggestion from other thread, I changed this section in my start.hml file in the webserver,
    *<frame name="header" SRC="<%=servletLoc%>PORTA/QE_LOCAL* to
    *<frame name="header" SRC="<%=servletLoc%>PORTAL/QE_LOCAL*
and then recycled the webserver and appserver but still got the error.
I have tried installing new webserver instance and still the same error. I also tried using a working webserv from other environment but still the same error.
    Below is our environment details:
    Webserver - Weblogic 8.1.6.0
    Ptools - 8.44.06
    HCM - ver 8.8
    Database - DB2
    OS - AIX 5.3.00
My team is leaning on a database refresh but I asked them to hold it for now to give me time to investigate. Does anyone have any idea on how to proceed with this kind of error? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks
