Can not play movies/TV shows on itunes

Hello,
I have recently refromated my PC. I re-installd Itunes (10.7.0.21) but since then I am not able to play nor add to the library any of my TV shows. I was able to play/add them before the formatting.
Please, help

I don't usually download video from the iTunes store. I had a couple of long plane rides coming up and thought I might have time to watch the Stanford IOS7 programming class. On the plane I discovered this issue which has gone unaddressed since 2011 and has been worsened in Mavericks. in 2011 the advice was to open iTunes' get info pane and click run in 32 bit. That worked at least for some people. In Mavericks, iTunes will not launch in 32 bit.

) you can click on the file in the finder and it will launch in QuickTime. For some reason on the plane I could see the first lecture in the iTunes view but, although I could see all the other lectures in the finder, I could not see the first one.
Ah well, maybe some other year I'll think about getting up to speed on ios7. Heck, maybe by then they will design a decent user experience.

Can't play purchased tv shows in iTunes because of Quicktime?

When I try to play a purchased tv show (from a season inwhich i have already been able to play episodes) it states that it can not play because this version of iTunes does not support QuickTime. I have 11.1.5 So frustrating!

I had the same problem, but then i uninstalled quicktime 7.5.5 and then reinstalled it using a new download of just quicktime 7.5.5 for windows from apple.com. all seems to be working fine now. this was a really annoying problem, as i had just downloaded new tv shows!

Randomly Apple TV can't play Movies/Tv shows and music.

I've seen other people having problems with this issue but with all my searching, have not found an answer and thought I'd share my experience in case someone has a solution or suggestion.
Our cable modem service comes into an access pannel in the bedroom closet. It goes to the Linksys WRT54G router, then to a hub which sends out to all the rooms in our house. Our house is new and pre-wired for ethernet in each room. It comes in the office, goes into another hub and then to the Mac Mini I have and to a NAS Lacie storage drive where all my movies, music and photos are at. We stream everything and only synk photos on the Apple TV.
Over the last couple of days, the Apple TV can't play movies or music for some reason. The errors I get with Movies/TV is "The selected video cannot be played." The format was not recognized. With music the message is "Apple TV cannot play the current song." I know all the movies and music work because a day before I just played I AM LEGEND and it worked perfectly.
I've got a couple of theories and wanted to float them by everyone. I use a Harmony 880 remote and when I select Apple TV, it turns on the ATV and then sets the inputs on the other items. When I'm done and select watch TV, it turns ATV off. Should the ATV stay on all the time? Could this be causing the problem?
I've restarted the ATV, the Mac Mini, the hubs, the cable modem, the router. Nothing brings it back. But if it sits for a while, a couple hours or so, then it's back. However, it just stops playing for no reason and the next day it might not work again.
I'm running iTunes 7.6.2 and I checked the ATV and iTunes and both say they are up to date on their software.
I could really use some help here. The frustrating part is the kids want to watch one of their movies for the 700th time and it won't play many time.

The status light is gray, so it is not setting off any "alarms", everything else is working, but when I go to watch a movie, rented or owned, it times out and resets itself. I ran a diagnostic and it said everything was working properly, I reset to factory settings and still had the same problem, and even reset the Airport to make sure it was not just the connection.
At a complete loss as to any other ideas to try to get her up and running again. No way am I going anywhere near an Apple Store with all the iPad hype that is out right now!!!!!!

Can not play movies without iTunes

I purchased several moves and downloaded them onto my MacBook Pro 10.9.5. The plan was to be able to watch these movies when I lost electricity. Well, it happened today and when I try to play them with QuickTime Player (or anything else I have), it tells me I must use iTunes to play them. But when I open iTunes, it tells me I have no connection so I can't play them. Help! They are stored on my MBP - 1.8 GB each (TV shows). How can I play them when I have no power?

Playing Movies/TV Shows in iTunes

Just recently I have been able to play my iTunes movies in a window that took advantage of the all the video space and with no black spots on the right or left (the video is full screen). But to full around I went to the view option --> Video Size -->Fit to screen and that cause issues so know the video does not play in the entire space in the window and there are black spots on the right and left. So in other words the double size and fit to window options are the same.

The movies and tv shows in your iTunes library on your computer can be transferred to your iPad via the iTunes sync/transfer process. This is selected under the Movies and TV Shows tabs for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes. After the movies and tv shows are transferred, they will be available in the Videos app under iOS 5.

Can't play purchased TV Shows on ITUNES

I recently purchased some episodes of TV Shows on ITUNES. However, I cannot play them on ITUNES. They start to play for about 5 seconds then ITUNES crashes.
I receive the message "ITUNES has encountered a problem and needs to close..." So far no problem playing them on my IPOD, just can't watch them on ITUNES. Also discovered that I can't watch a preview of a TV show or movie either on ITUNES. It results in the same problem described above, (i.e.ITUNES crashes). Anyone know why this is happening and how to correct?

TS1718 Post update, when I try to play movies/tv shows through iTunes only audio comes through. How do I fix this?

Just rented a movie from the iTunes store, which I have never had a problem with prior to this, and played it but the screen was black. Audio was coming through the whole time. I tried skipping around to see if maybe some parts of the movie didn't get downloaded correctly but that wasn't case. I tried playing other tv shows I have on my computer that I bought from iTunes and those won't play correctly either. I can only assume it was something involving this previous update. Any guidance on the matter would be appreciated.

Can not view movies that are in itunes on Apple TV

Not all movies that are listed in my itunes are visble on my Appkle Tv. They all [lay on itines ok ??? I have resynched to no avail ? why ? help

Possibly as they're not compatible (if purchased from iTunes store they should be, though some podcasts are too complex/hi-res).

Basically you need h264 encoded at <5MBps with AAC audio at 720p 24fps or less (30fps will work at 960x540 or below).
Check the movies in the movie section of iTunes to ensure they're not unticked which will prevent them from syncing/streaming.
Also if AppleTv might be full and you're syncing ensure AppleTV summary tab in iTunes does not have 'Show only synced items' selected.

Just Installed Itunes 7.5 and now I can't play my TV shows on Itunes

Just installed 7.5. Itunes freezes up when I try to play a TV show. The music works fine.

I HATE the new itunes on the ipad. It went from easy to use to a major ordeal. I don't have a clue how to find let alone listen to my podcasts. I go to more then press podcasts then nothing happens or screne goes black. finally i typed podcast in search bar and got it so I just leave it open. I don't know how to play back to back podcasts.

Movie rental download complete. but can not play the films (3) in itunes 10.5.0.60. black screen.

hi ive downloaded 3 films. all completed and now viewable under Movies. When i press play i just get a black screen. teh ticker at the bottom continues as though it is playing, but nothing. if i click the Chapters tab at the top i can see all the chapter pictures but still cannot watch any of the films. help

Sound like you are playing with a beta version of iTunes in which case this conversation should be taking place in the developer forums...

Can't play movies and shows

I currently have iTunes 10.6.3. But I've been having this problem for a while, most likely with other versions of iTunes. What happens is that if I attempt to play a movie or a TV show that I've bought, it opens up but stays black instead of playing. I can fast forward it, but it remains black and it never plays. However, when I do fast forward it, it shows the scene that it's at in the "Now Playing" box but it doesn't play in that box either.
Has anyone else had this problem? I thought the problem would fix itself when I upgraded to Mountain Lion but it hasn't.

Is QuickTime installed? If not it might help to install it.
If so is Direct3D Video Acceleration enabled? If so it might help to disable.

I can not play or delete music from itunes

When I plug my ipod shuffle into computer, it wont let me play or delete music. I cannot highlight or select any songs

I too moved my music libary to an external HD; however, I cannot see any music in iTunes? Suggestions?

I can't play the preview videos on iTunes, Quicktime error

For some reason I can not play the preview videos on iTunes. I can play the videos I have bought allready though. So, when I try to run quicktime outside of iTunes I get this error message.
"Quicktime failed to intialize. Error # -2096
Make sure your Quicktime is properly installed on your computer"
I've tryed uninstalling quicktime and iTunes and reinstalling them both. And I have also tried reinstalling just the Quicktime without redoing the iTunes.
If someone can please help I would appreciate it. I would love to be able the preview videos and movies on my iTunes.

Can't play movie from gallery on mac

I can not play movies from my gallery on my macbook. These movies are imported from Canon A630 to iPhoto. In iPhoto I can play them well. All of them are published to my mobileme gallery using iPhoto. Then I open this gallery in Safari on my macbook to check if everything was published. And when I try to play a movie QuickTime tells me that it needs some additional software and directs me to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.htmlos=OSX&ctype=696d6463&cs ubtype=4d4a5047
I visited this page earlier and installed divx, xvid, recode raw and ensharpen codecs. Also I have Perian and Flip4mac installed codecs. So my main question is: why can't I play movies from gallery using safari if in the same time I can view them well from iPhoto?
Playing of movies published with iMovie works well. But this does not matter to me since I want videos to be published in events with photos. If iPhoto has functionality to publish videos so it must work! Also I must mention that videos published with iPhoto can be played without problems from my PC with safari+quick time for windows. But under my Mac none of Safari, Firefox and Camino can view videos from my gallery. So I think problem is in QuickTime.

Anybody?????? Im using web premium CS5.5 it seems ludicrous that by default it lets every website play content on my computer but regards my own content as a security risk and wont let me rectify the problem!
