Can not receive messages - user mailbox locked

Suddenly my incoming messages stopped coming and a dialogue box appeard, saying: "The sending of password failed. The e-mail server (pop3) answered user mailbox locked."
I've been in contact with my internet service provider and they found nothing wrong from their side. I can access my mail on the webmail and I can send email from my account.
I've checked the way the server and the account is configured and everything seems to be ok and according to manuals from both the ISP and Thunderbird. How can I get may incoming mail working again? Hoping for help!

Yes I asked. That was the first thing I did. And there's nothing wrong on the provider's side. They didn't lock the account and found it very unusual. They didn't know much about Thunderbird, however...
But I got hands-on-help from my son yesterday and that might have (almost) solved it. Seems that Thunderbird can't have both IMAP and POP3 accounts running and there might have been something in this that disturbed the flow. He made a new inbox and things started to work again. But it's still not working 100 %.

    Talk to your carrier.  Sounds like something is not provisioned right on your account.

    I've never heard of that one before. Quit the mail app and reboot the iPad and see if that makes any difference. This message may relate to your specific email provide settings. But try this anyway. It can't hurt.
    Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

    last year I bought my first Appler computer and it was a good decision . I use the mail application and addes 2 email accounts. One yahoo email account and one t-online email account. It works very well until september ... Since september I can't receive new messages from my yahoo account.
    I tried different things I read in this forum. For example to delete the file com.apple.mail.list in library/preferences and start the mail application. I create a new account for yahoo. Mail read the only 49 messages from the total 84 messages. If I look at the account information within the mail application it shows all 84 messages from the yahoo account.
    I also use opera as an other internet browser and the embedded email client. Opera receive my emails from the yahoo acount.
    There are any other suggestions to solve my problem ?

    I'm having the same problem too. I think it's an issue on Yahoo's end because whenever I can't retrieve message on the POP server, I also can't login to Yahoo on Adium Messenger. Yahoo has a history of this happening, but never for days on end. I think the solution is to set your Yahoo mail to forward to Gmail and be done with it.

  • Exchange Server 2013: incoming messages are not delivered into user mailboxes occasionally

    Exchange Server 2013 CU1, two mailbox servers (DAG, only one mail database), two CAS servers (NLB cluster). Two Sendmail/CentOS-based SMTP relays route mail between Exchange servers and Internet (incoming mail is routed to NLB cluster name).
    Usually mail flow is OK: messages are sent and received normally. However, I've got several complains from different users. They state that occasionally they don't receive messages that were sent to them from outside. Tomorrow morning I've decided to
    investigate the issue.
    So, we have a message sent from Gmail account that was not delivered in user mailbox. It was received and routed to Exchange by Sendmail host:

    [InternalId=13069585481819] Queued mail for delivery) 
    Running Get-MessageTrackingLog applet on the mailbox servers displayed the followed log entries for the message:
    DB Server #1:
        22:11:18 HAREDIRECT
        22:11:18 RECEIVE
        22:11:18 AGENTINFO
    DB Server #2:
        22:11:18 HARECEIVE
        22:12:44 HADISCARD
    So, we can see that the message was placed into shadow queues, but was NOT delivered into mailbox (no DELIVER status entries). Also pay attention to the timing. Time on all the servers is in sync, but Sendmail timestamp is 22:06, and Exchange timestamps
    are 5 minutes behind it.
    Today a message sent to the same address from the same Google mailbox was received by Exchange and placed into user mailbox with no glitches.
    We use Exchange antispam system activated on Exchange mailbox servers. Spam is never dropped silently. It is either returned to sender (SCL 9) or placed into quarantine mailbox (SCL 6 and above). I'm pretty sure that the lost message was not in the quarantine
    mailbox this morning, and the sender didn't receive any NDRs.
    Any ideas what to investigate next?

    My emails are not filtering through to the 'mail' application on my mac.
    I use Virgin, also have a blackberry. I can get the emails from the Virgin site, the emails are coming through on my blackberry.
    I can send emails from 'mail'
    The error is - The mail server denied access to the account "xxxx" because an administrator or other mail client was using it when Mail tried to log in. Please try again later.
    The server error encountered was: user mailbox locked
    When I look at connection doctor the error is POP account failed, please make sure user name and password are correct.
    As far as I am aware I have not changed anything.
    Has anyone got any answers please?

    Where/how does Mail display that error message?
    Are you accessing that mail account from other computers or devices, or by other means (e.g. webmail), when it happens?
    Could it be that you have more than one copy of the Mail application running? How many Mail icons do you see in the Dock?
    Have you tried restarting the computer?

    I switched to a non iphone over two months ago and ever since then I cannot receive messages from iphone users sending in imessage format. They have to turn imessage on and off to be able to text me. This has been extremely inconvenient since I need to receive these messages for work in addition to my personal life. I have tried multiple suggestions I've read about, still nothing works. It's like this is apple's way of keeping customers using their iphone instead of switching for fear of not receiving messages. They won't really fix it either when we all know technology is advanced enough to fix this. HELP.

  • On my daughters iPad mini she can not send messages. She can receive them but the send button stays light gray after you type a message. It worked when we first set it up but now it does not. Tried resetting and logging out and back in. With no change.

    Thank you for the details of the issue your daughter is experiencing with sending messages on the iPad.  It sounds like you might have the Subject Field turned on. To disable this go to Settings > Messages > Show Subject Field.

    On an iPhone your iMessages will go to your phone number.
    You can select another email to use on iPod or iPad.
    Go to settings
    Messages
    Send and receive
    Check your phone number and uncheck the common Apple ID you share so your messages will not go to other devices.

    The other day my boyfriend's phone stopped working. He already had an android phone and our messages were working fine. But ever since he got a new phone(it's the same kind of LG phone he had before) I can SEND messages to him fine, but I can not receive ANY of his messages he sends to me. I have tried everything to resetting the network, turning imessage on and off, and resetting my phone countless times. I have even redid his contact, erased our old messages.     1. Turn off iMessage on the iPhone, then restore it as new.
    2. Go to www.icloud.com and remove the iPhone from your AppleID.
    3. Change your Apple ID password.
    4. Change the primary email address of your Apple ID.

    Depends on the type of Message.
    SMS messages will send and receive with data off.  and while you can guarantee you send using SMS you cannot guarantee that whoever replies to you does also. They may be replying thorugh iMessage if they are using iPhones.
    However Android should be sending through SMS.
    You can turn off iMessage if you want to, though people with limtied SMS text messaging in their plans may not appreciate it, and stop messaging you.
