Can not restore due to folder not being found

I just want to wash my ipod harddrive and just start over due to a couple of problems I have had.
Whenever I connect to itunes, it does not recognize that it is a nano, but does say it is an ipod, and that it is corrupted, so I should restore.
I click restore and the error that comes up is
" can not restore because the correct folder can not be found "
any ideas what that is about.
already done all the troubleshooting steps to no avail.
not a newb on the computer so its frustrating me.

You might want to try deleting the "iPod Photo Cache" folder on your computer.
See the instructions here:
Photo Sync creates iPod photo cache
After that, restart your computer, and try restoring your iPod again.
Any difference after trying that?

    I Have seen people report this issue when they try to sync their devices but in never seen it when trying to restore an unresponsive iPad. I would sguggest trying recovery mode now.
    If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    This procedure will totally erase the iPad so I hope that you have a backup that you can restore from....assuming that it works, that is.

  • ORA-19612: datafile 0 not restored due to missing data

    Hello,
    I'm testing a restore of the controlfile. The database is in archivelog mode and autobackup is set to ON. I successfully did a full backup and backup as copy database.
    To test I did the following:
    - note the DBID
    - shutdown the database
    - renamed both controlfiles:
    $ mv /u02/rcat/control01.ctl /u02/rcat/control01.ctl_old
    $ mv /u02/fra/rcat/control02.ctl /u02/fra/rcat/control02.ctl_old
    When I try to restore the controlfile form autobackup I receive the following error. What could be reason please?

  • Datafile not restored due to missing or corrupt data

    Hi all,
    I was asked to restore a RMAN backup which we got from another region, the rman backup contains controlfiles and datafiles as compressed backupset.
    oracle version is 10.2.0.3.0
    aix version 6
    First, I have restored the control file using the below command:
    run
    +{+
    allocate channel t1 type disk;
    restore controlfile from '/oracle/app/prod/rman/cf_t799873684_s17_p1';
    alter database mount;
    +}+
    Second, I have cataloged the backup piece:
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/df_t794754324_s12_p1';
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/df_t793567544_s13_p1';
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/df_t731097654_s14_p1';
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/df_t792538698_s15_p1';
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/df_t792183472_s16_p1';
    catalog backuppiece '/oracle/app/prod/rman/cf_t799873684_s17_p1';
    Third, used below command to restore:
    +run {+
    allocate channel t1 type disk;
    allocate channel t2 type disk;
    allocate channel t3 type disk;
    allocate channel t4 type disk;
    set newname for datafile 01 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/system01.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 02 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/undotbs01.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 03 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/sysaux01.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 04 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/users01.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 06 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile005.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 07 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile006.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 08 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile007.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 09 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile008.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 10 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile009.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 11 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile010.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 14 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile001.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 15 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile002.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 16 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile003.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 17 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/datafile004.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 18 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/indfile001.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 19 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/indfile002.dbf';
    set newname for datafile 20 to '/oracle/app/oradata/dbprod/indfile011.dbf';
    restore database;
    switch datafile all;
    recover database;
    +}+
    But while restoring, I got error like below:

    was updating my iPhone 4S when the internet got disconnected. By the time I get connected again it could not restore due to an unknown error code 1611, pls help

    Try:
    iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    Or it could be an Apple problem and you will have to wait.

  • Just accidentally deleted important data in iPad notes. How can I restore. I am not connected to wifi

    Please help. I'm a writer and just lost my work.
    Can I restore if I'm not connected to wifi?

    Hi,
    Please read this thread. Scroll down to Molly's suggestions. Molly posted some  links that might work for you.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3737363?tstart=150
    Click on the links she posted. They both have free trials. I have never used them but they have gotten very good reviews.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1414 I just got a replacement iPhone 5 (64MB) for one with a cracked face, and tried to restore it.  Got an error message saying the iTunes could not restore the iPhone because not enough free space is available on the iPhone.  Now what?

    I just replaced my iPhone 5 because of a cracked face.  I backed up the old phone to iTunes.  When I tried to restore my data off of iTunes to the new phone, I got an error message saying that iTunes could not restore the iPhone because not enough free space is available on the new iPhone.  Now what?
    I have Apple Care+, but I'll be darned if I can find any way to contact anyone at Apple to talk to about this.  They take your money, but make darned sure they don't have to support you unless you jump through a bunch of hoops first, like this site.

    I've done a restore.. The phone was completely wiped back to factory settings.. It then tells me there isn't enough space on the phone to restore from back up? How when the phone is empty?!

  • HT1766 I backed up to my PC and attempted restore but I keep getting an error message that "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because not enough free space is available." I have a 32GB iPhone; only 13GB used!!!  HELP!  iCloud backup/restore did not work

I have a 32GB iPhone; only 13GB used!!!  HELP!  iCloud backup/restore did not work either! How can I resolve this problem to restore from back up.

    If you're not a developer then you really should not have upgraded.
    I'm unsure how you can fix this as you have already done a back-up on iOS 7 and apple don't support firmware downgrades.

  • "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because not enough free space is available of the iPhone"??????

    Before updating to iOS6, I backed my iPhone up onto my PC, as I am aware that when updating an iPhone things like notes, contacts etc tend to disappear. However, after the update was complete, when I tried to 'restore back up' I keep getting the message "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because not enough free space is available of the iPhone". I don't understand why this message keeps coming up, because I have 20.96GB free space. All my contacts have gone, and I urgently need them for work. What can I do to solve this problem???

    I suggest you delete some stuff off your phone so free up some memory and try again

    itunes could not restore the iphone because not enough free space is available on the iphone
    I am so ****** because i can't figure out a way to at least get my photos from this back...its all lost
    I spoke with an Apple rep that day named Jamie who was supposed to help me retrieve my data, but we couldn't figure it out and he asked me to call back in a day or so to get it done.  When I called back, i left several messages and got no response.  Now i try calling support and they want money before they will talk to me.
    Somebody please help.
    Thanks

    If you restored your phone as new there should be plenty of free space on it.  Check Settings>General>Usage to see how much free space you have.
    Is your backup on your computer or in iCloud?

    Hi there Cedric!
    I have an article here for you that I believe will help you out with this issue by reporting it to iTunes. That article can be found right here:

  • Mac Mini Not booting due to hard disk being full

    Hello All,
    I have a Mini and has worked well for the past 12 months, last week i upgraded to the OSX Lion which also went very smoothly. However yesterday i had a message on my screen stating the my startup disk was full and i needed to make space. finding this a little odd as I have a TB external hard drive that everything goes to.
    the mini frose during the deletion process after leaving for approx an hour i attempted to reboot. from this point i have only been able to access the disk utility through the DVD that came with the mini I have done a disk check and repair, also check permission all are ok exept for only having 49mb of hd space left.
    I cant access safe mode as this will not boot either (tried to load for 8 hours) re install will also not work due to the amount of hd space available
    has anyone got any ideas how i can clean the hard disk without formatting as ideally i would like to know what is causing the problem.
    like a not very bright thing i left the time machine turned off so this isnt an option either??

    Ok, basically it would involve the following
    Boot from the DVD
    Launch the Terminal.app probably from a Utilities menu which also lists Disk Utility
    In Terminal you would need to type cd /Users/accountname/.Trash followed by pressing the return key
    Then you would type ls -l and again press return
    It would then list what is in the trash for that user account. If it begins with a D it is a folder, otherwise it is likely a file. The big number before the data would give an idea of the size of the item.
    When you have found the one you want to delete (remember you cannot undo this) you would type the following to delete a file rm filename and then press return again.
    The do ls -l again to see if the file has gone.
    If you want to delete a folder that is in the trash then the command would be rm -r foldername and then again press return. Using rm -r is a particularly dangerous command if you do it in the wrong place or the wrong way you could delete everything on the hard disk.
    Normally in single user mode (which you said was not working) you have to type some other commands beforehand to allow modifying the contents of the hard disk. I have not tried this via the DVD so I do not know if the same applied. If it does it is likely to refuse to delete the file and you should come back to me and we can work out the process.

  • Can't restore from backup because not enough space on iphone? huh?

    I am trying to simply restore my iphone from a backup on my laptop because I accidentally deleted an app of mine with important data.  When I go to restore the iphone though from a backup it tells me that it can't restore b/c not enough space on iphone.  I don't see how that makes sense since if it's a backup from the same iphone I'm using, how can there ever not be enough space to restore it?  I've also already searched other peoples problems and my hard disk has plenty of space on it where itunes and the backups are installed.  I've tried moving the temp and tmp folders but that didn't do anything.

    I restored to an older backup which seemed to go through but now when I then try to restore to a newer backup it says on the phone "restore complete" and then it gives me same error message on computer.  When I look at phone it seems to have restored my notes and contacts, but not my SMS or my calendar.

  • Do I need to install my software apps before restoring an image backup?  Getting error message of can't restore due to permissions

    I get an error message when restoring an image that the restore failed - operation not permitted.  I do not have "erase destination" checked. It was running for over an hour and then about half way through gave the error message.
    I'm verifying the image as I type this.  For the image to load successfully, do I need to have all the software installed already, like MS Office and other third party software for macs?  Kind of reaching for a green limb at this point.  I recently had to reinstall the OS due to a hardware issue and it has been running fine since the chips were swapped out.  I updated the MAC OS with software updates after the hardware work was completed.  Today I decided to restore the image backup using disk utility.  And here we are.  Tips, etc.,  would be greatly appreciated.

    Tried it again.  Didn't work.  But it's now clear to me that Lenovo R&R is failing to recognize the recovery disk that it created earlier today.  R&R said the recovery media was successfully created, but I guess not.
    I will try installing from a Win7 installation disc.  Thanks for your help.
