Can not save because of a program error

I am using leopard. I just upgraded to CS2, This is the error message I am getting. Not every time just sometimes. Which is bad if I am working for a client and I have put so much work into something I can't save.

Doreen,
Be aware that CS2 does have issues running on Mac OS X 10.5.x that will not be "fixed" by Adobe. You should be running CS3 on that OS.

  • Past 24hrs Photoshop CC has returned "Could not save because of a program error" when trying to save

Photoshop CC is not allowing me to save any image once a change has been made to it.
    Any clues?
16MB ram with 70% allocated to PS.

Online chat with Adobe staff member helped solve the issue.
A corrupted preferences folder was removed, a new one automatically created solved the issue.
New folder was then deleted and old folder reinstated with the original name (if that makes sense).
    Sorted.
    THANK YOU Gokul!

  • Can not save in Photoshop 7.0; error message

I have been modifying several jpeg images - changing background color mostly. Some of them save successfully, others do not.  There is no apparent difference between the verious jpegs (size, etc).
On the ones that will not save, I get the following error message:  "Could not complete your request becaause of a program error".
I have tried various things to fix that I have found by Goolgling - changing the printer, re-loading Photoshop.
Any other ideas would be welcome.

    Jana,
Can you tell us what the full specs. are, for your I/O sub-system, i.e. your HDD's (Hard Disk Drives) size, free-space, controller type, and speed?
A "partition" is the creation of several "logical volumes" on a single "physical HDD." It was required, going back in time, when the OS's, and the programs, of that day, could not address larger HDD's. As a "for instance," PS could only see 4GB of HDD space, for use as Scratch Disks. I cannot recall just when PS could see, and use, larger HDD's, but think that it was as of CS (the next version after PS 7). Also, there was an important update for PS 7, and it think that it was PS 7.0.1. If you have not applied that update, I would do so.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Could not save "pdf" due to program error-CS6

Hi Everyone. I've gotten then message "Could not save due to program error". I used to get it randomly, and a few times in a row then I'd restart my machine and it'd usually fix it. Now it has been unable to save as a PDF all day today and last night.
    I am running a Mac on OS X 10.9.4, Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.6 x64.
I have been reading through the forums and tried changing the language to the Asian, I've updated my photoshop, I've tried saving both to a network and to my desktop and none of it works.
I am not sure how to find the TextError file, but if someone will tell me how to find that, I'll gladly include that. I really need some help because my whole job product depends on getting PDFs to publishers!

No it I still have 6 of 8 gigs left on the flash drive I am saving to. I
even tried to save to my Documents file and received the same error
message. It was a little weird because it let me save 7-8 name tags prior
to giving me an error message. I did see a longer message when I tried to
save it to my Documents..it said that it was due to a program error, but
that was the extent of the message.
I have CS5 on my PC and switched to that program. I am not having any
difficulties using the CS5. I will try rebooting my laptop and see if that
    helps.
    Thank you.

  • Could ....... not execute because of a program error.

used program uninstaller and reinstalled Photoshop CC, did not solve the problem.
    What can I do?

    Hi ,
Can you give me more details about the syntax error.
Also let me know which release you are in?

  • [Locked: repeating post bug] Can't save jpg due to program error

Saw some answers in a post I now can't locate...
I can save a psd to tiff, but can save nothing to jpg, which gives the message above. It's very annoying. I run Cocktail and Diskwarrior fairly regularly, which usually sorts things like this out, but not this time. I even did a clean install, but the problem isn't fixed. A work-round is to open the tiff in Preview and resave as a jpg, but that's not ideal.
Does anyone know the precise reason for this glitch (I'm fairly sure it's Mac system and not PS)?

document must be  RGB 8bit and you will be able to see option . Jpg  option will show up .
    File->save as
    choose :
jpg-> window will open when clik save and then you will see 3 options to choose. baseline , optimize, progressive.
on my settings optimize is default and instead optimize i choose baseline .
It does work for me. try that.

  • "could not print because of a program error" ?

I unchecked "color management" in my printer settings, but still get this message. Any ideas out there?

Related question:  Have been thinking about upgrading to CS5, but some reviews and chat room comments have indicated that it's even twitchier than previous Photoshops with regard to printing issues and driver compatibility.
At the company I work for we use a pdf-workflow, so printing is more or less a non-issue for me, but I’ve come across some threads on that matter, too.
Unfortunately it’s often difficult to make out if the problems are OS-, driver-, application- or user-sided.
Other considerations you might want to take into account are that
    • by now you’ve missed out on some significant changes (not necessarily to your liking, but the later you switch the more accumulated changes you may have to get used to) and
    • you will lose upgrade eligibility with the next version and instead would have to buy the full version.

Before you decide to upgrade check out if your hardware and OS meet the requirements, though.

  • Could not save as filename.PDF because of a program error

I am running Photoshop CS4 Extended Version 11.0 on OS X 10.5.5. I have been trying to save a PSD file as a PDF and I've been receiving the dreaded "Could not save because of a program error" message. I tried rebooting, closing and opening the program, and saving to another folder or external drive and nothing works. Strangely, I was able to save a PSD to PDF file just yesterday. I have not seen a solution to this problem on a forum as of yet. Any ideas?

    Robert,
System specs, including RAM and free drive space please.
    Thanks.

  • Can't save because of program error

I had this problem a year ago, then I started using the computers at school, and forgot how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
    Here's the problem
I used Lightroom to make some edits, including the masking brush. When I opened in photoshop, finished editing and tried to save, It gave me the dreded, "Can not save because of program error"
I used to be able to fix this by going into some setting and deleting part of something. But for the life of me, I can't remember what or where. Is there anyone familiar with this that can help?

First thing to try is resetting the preferences by holding down
the Shft+Alt+Ctrl keys (windows) Cmd-Shift-Option  (mac)
as you start the pse 8 editor and then click yes in dialog.
Some more information might help such as which OS (windows or mac)
and how much ram you have and if this has worked before or never worked and
the format your trying to save your files in.

I have adobe CS 5.1 and recently (after an update) it is giving me an error (Could not save...because of a program error) every time I try to save my work as a PDF>  Help how can I get this resolved??

    Run the cleaner, reinstall.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
And don't bother with running any updates unless you really need them or they fix a critical issue relevant to your workflow.

when I open a raw file (NEF Nikon 7100)  and apply setting then click save, I get an error ( could not complete your request because of a program error ). Ideas?

    Oh, dear.
If you use PSE as your external editor for iphoto, you need to save the images back to iphoto by using Save, not Save As and not changing anything like the name or format that would bring up the Save As window. (You may need to adjust the editor prefs>saving files>on first save to save over existing.)
OR you can export the photos from iphoto to the desktop, use file>open in the editor and then change whatever you want and either import the saved image to the organizer or import it back to iphoto as a new file. What you are doing is extremely risky, particularly to the iphoto library which you may easily damage by your workflow.
I would start the organizer holding down the shift key, then create a new catalog and switch to the new one. Then try opening the editor without opening an image and see if you get any farther.
PSE and iphoto are not designed to be used as you've been doing. You are trying to write to the iphoto library from outside iphoto, which is the fastest known way to corrupt the library and lose all your photos.

  • When I try to save a photo, I get error message Could not complete your request because of a program error.  What's wrong?

I edit a photo and when I click Save As, I get error message "Could not complete your request because of a program error."    I exit Elements, try again, same error.
In past I had this problem but it resolved when rebooted PC.  This time, PC reboot does not help.
I cannot save anything i do in elements!!
What's wrong?  Any suggestions how to fix this?   Anyone know what the program error is

Please mention your PSE version and underlying OS.
Also, it would be of great help in resolving the issue if you can upload a snapshot of error message.
