Can not search after hitting "File - Open"

Hello,
I recently upgraded to CS6 and Mac OSX 10.8.1 Mountain Lion.
I use Indesign regularly. And I sort though my files clicking command O, or File -> Open and then tabbing over to the search box to perform a search for the file I'm looking for.
Unforetunately, when I tried this for the first time in ID CS6, no files would appear. I typed in the names of a fews files I use regularly and the search always said 0 items.
I tried the same search after hitting command D or File -> Paste and used the search feature for the same item and it appeared no problem.
Any idea what is happening? I would really appreciate it!

Ok Applecare Senior Advisor Tad Boyd (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss. They are actually going to be calling me tomorrow to follow up on the issue. Can not select a PDF file in the file uploader window after clicking the Browse... button for a file type input element.

After upgrading to 5 (this worked in 4) I can not select a PDF file in the File Upload dialog that appears when I click the Browse button next to an HTML file type input element. The specific HTML element source code has the attribute: ACCEPT="image/*". I can select image files such as jpg, png, tiff, etc. But not PDF. This worked great in Furefox 4 and works in the latest version of Safari.
The HTML code for the form element is:
INPUT TYPE="file" NAME="file_1" ACCEPT="image/*" SIZE=35
The File Upload dialog lists all files with PDF extension as dimmed and not selectable in Firefox 5.

Unfortunately we couldn't solve the problem. Our IT specialist checked it with SAP directly. SAP doesn't support the SAP KW solution anymore. Therefore we checked-in the document in ".doc"-Format.

Can not search files on OSX 10.7.5

My users, running 10.5, can not search files stored on my new server that is running 10.7.5 Lion. Some times they can but most of the time they can not. I cant find where to turn on indexing to see if that is the problem.

Indexing says its disabled. How do I turn it on?
I have tried
sudo mdutil -a -i on
It still says disabled.

Can not upload an excel file if it is opening.

I found I can not upload an excel file if it is opening(using) at same time. My questions are:
(1)How can I still upload an excel file even it is opening at same time? Or
(2)How to check the file which is opening(using) or not and give a pop-up message?

I can not get a .jar file to run on XP SP3 start/run/cmd/
Please help if can figure this out. I'm convinced it is a Windows XP SP3 problem from searching on google and seeing other ppl on XP SP3 with same problem (but no working solution for myself). I'll try to be complete-listing all I've done.
I had installed: Java SE Runtime Environment v6u14 for Windows Multi-language

So then I do these cmds which produce the exact same error/reply just above; Unable to load..:

does nothing, retry the other commands same thing (either nothing or those same replies)
Then I read (http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5384879) someone had the same problem as I and they solved it by uninstalling all Java/reboot/ then install JDK 6 Update 14 with NetBeans 6.5.1 start NetBeans and then it worked for them.
So I unistalled all Java, rebooted and gave the cmd another try (before re-installing), now a new error, of course:
C:\062>java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Then I install Java SE and NetBeans Cobundle (JDK 6u14 and NB 6.5.1) Final Release/ reboot/ open Netbeans/
go to test java page; all is good, run cmds again -and still nothing..
C:\062>java -version
java version "1.6.0_14"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_14-b08)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode, sharing)
I reassociate program with: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.007\bin\javaw.exe_
same thing.. nothing

Taggert77_: I have never used NetBeans. I only installed it in the bundle as I had read on another post that somehow installing the bundle magically helped another user with the same problem (he didn't know why it worked after that either).
Before XP SP3 I was able to execute .jar file through cmd prompt. Now I am not.

The proper cmd is simply: java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
I did give your cmd a try, and it produced nothing :( (just like the other correct cmds)

PS. If you do a search for this you'll find an amazing amount of XP SP3 users with the same problem and no solution posted that I could find except one chap that did the unistall install order that I did above).

Can not search.

I have PS CS2 and bridge 1.0.4.6 on Mac G5. I can not search for keywords. I always get a blank search result page. How do I reload just Bridge and not PS. This problem started when I back up my bridge files to another hard drive. Could I have broken the links? I can not do searches for new keywords either.

Can not search PDF

I had a large PDF made for me that I can not search. It is in courier, but the footer is in something else and searches fine.
If I search the letter "ne" for instance, which are right in front of me, it will highlight numbers in an address in the footer!!!!
I read somewhere ese to copy and past in word, change the font and remake the PDF, but when I paste it is all werid code script.
I really need to search this doc, it hundreds of pages!!!!!!
I am using Adobe Reader 11.0.02, on a Mac with OSX 10.8.3
I was able to search this same file on my old mac with old reader, until the system failed and stopped searching anything...
Please HELP!!!! Is tehre a plug-in or something?

What you're seeing is ASCII unicode. The OCR of the text in the body of the PDF was either improperly performed or not at all... or the data has been corrupted.
Have you tried opening it with Preview?

How Can I Search for Media files by Length?

I want know how can I search for media files (mov, mp4, flv and movie files in general) by their length?
If this search function is confirmed as definitely not possible on the OS, I would appreciate someone recommending app that might be able to perform such a search?

No possible way. Because the files may be enoded with differing codecs, compression, etc., you can only sort by file size, not the 'length' of the movie files.

Can not add a video file to Itunes library and even when I try to open the video using "open with Itunes", Itunes start but instead of the video I see the music library

iTunes cannot play nor convert WMV files. You'll need to use a third-party application to convert the video to a format iTunes can accept.

The list of items excluded from Spotlight indexing is shown (it may be empty.) Click the plus (“+”) icon to add an item to the list. Select your boot volume (under DEVICES) and add it to the list. Then remove it from the list by selecting it and clicking the minus (“-“) icon.
Spotlight will rebuild the index. If you try to do a Spotlight search now from the magnifying-glass icon in the top right corner of the display, a pulsing dot will appear in the icon. When the dot disappears, the indexing is complete.

There is a ~/zshfunc/_fossil script, but it can not work after re-login.
The temp workaround is re-type 'compinit' manually.

Thanks for the tip. However, I elected not to save the XP SP2 uninstall files when I installed SP2. so I appear to be stuffed.
There must be some creative drivers that work with an audigy with XP SP2 installed!
If not then its either re-format the Hard Dri've and re-install everything again (Doh!!) or get another (not Creative Labs) soundcard.

Well you can sync your iPod/iPhone to yur computer or laptop then take the photos off of your iPod like taking photos of of a SD card (from a normal camera) or off of a USB..! Good Luck. plz tick this saying This solved my question if it helps you.

I can not print a pdf file that was sent in an email. I get an adobe error message that it can not print with an ok to check and when i do I get another adobe error message that says I did not select a page to print. I have downloaded the latest adobe download. I forwarded the email to my husband and he printed the document just fine.

This first question which comes to mind is how do you display the pdf file in the browser?
For this the browser uses a plug in (e.g. adobe reader) which already has the ability to print the pdf file. Depending on the version of your plug in, printing is started differently.
