You can't install any application which requires iOS 4.3 or newer on a first or second generation iPod touch. If you still have a copy of that application compatible with iOS 3.1.3 or 4.2.1, import it into the iTunes library and sync it.

How can I stop Mozilla and some extensions from opening new tabs every time I open firefox, even with no updates?

I'm using Firefox 9.0.1 on a Windows 7 laptop. Since upgrading to 9.0 and then 9.0.1 Mozilla and Speed Dial open new tabs as if they've been updated, even though there has been no update. Colorful tabs 8.0 did it as well, but I disabled it.

Do you have BitDefender (2010 e.g.) with its toolbar? If yes, remove it because the BD toolbar is known to be buggy and cause this issue (add-on compatibility check at each Firefox start).
And report here the BD toolbar version you have.

How can I stop the X509Anchors password box from popping up?

I was messing around with some certificates trying to get Office Communicator to work on my Mac here at work.
Ever since then the keychain dialog box continually pops up asking for my X509Anchors password. I know the password, my problem is that this dialog box continually pops up. CalendarAgent is the main app that keeps trying to access it, though others do occasionally as well.

That entry in your keychain may be damaged. In the /Applications/Utilities/ folder, launch Keychain Access. At the left, the upper item selected should be login, and the lower on Passwords. At the right, locate (if it's obviously named), the item for X509Anchors and remove it. Close Keychain Access. Then next time you visit the site this is for, it will ask for your login information as if it were your first visit. Enter your info and a new keychain link will be created.

I can not get a new tab to open. It opens a new tab when I go to Firefox Help but not when I want to open a bookmark of other web site.

When I click on the tab bar I will not open a new tab.

That can be a problem with the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:

Can not make a new tab

I have been a FireFox user for years. I know how to open a new tab. File -> New Tab does not open a new tab. Clicking the plus sign on the right end of the existing tab does not open a new tab. I'm running FireFox 3.6.15 under Windows 7. Is there a bug in the latest FireFox upgrade?

i'm running windows 7 and firefox 3.6.15 older version did not has this kind of problem please fix something is messed up with tabs and bookmark clicks. browser works perfect but do not reacts sometimes while clicking on bookmark toolbar websites with left and center mouse buttons :)

How can I eliminate the "new tab" when I open Firefox to my preset Home Page?

I have Firefox installed on a desktop and a netbook. On the desktop, when I launch Firefox it takes me to my homepage, and that is the only tab open. On the netbook, it opens to the homepage correctly, but there is also a second, blank tab, carrying the header "New Tab", just as though I had clicked on the "New Tab" icon in the toolbar. Since my homepage is a specialized search engine which opens each result in a new tab of its own, having the blank one already in place is annoying. How do I stop it from opening on launch?

Make sure that there isn't a pipe symbol appended to the home page setting.

How can i stop iTunes 7 for Windows from opening automatically whenever I browse my Music Folder in Windows?

Whenever I'm browsing through my files on my PC, if I open the iTunes folder inside my music folder, iTunes automatically launches. If I close iTunes without browsing away from this folder, it simply re-opens itself.
edit: I have no Apple devices currently connected to the computer and WiFi Sync is disabled.
How can I stop this behaviour?

Sometimes home page changes are caused by a new extension, or by external software modifying your Firefox settings. These can sneak in when you install other software, as many free programs include a bundle of less useful stuff.
Could you check your extensions for anything nonessential or unrecognized? Open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable. Or if it's obviously rubbish, remove.
If the Remove button is missing for an extension, you usually can find a way to remove it using the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program (or whatever it is called now in Windows 8.1). Clicking the "Installed on" column heading to sort by date is useful in finding and removing unknown bundle items or other untrustworthy additions.
Once your system is clean, does your preferred home page show up, either immediately or after updating the setting in Options?

Yes, I went to settings and turned wifi off. Thought at first I wasnt letting it set for a sec or two before shutting the iPad off. so now I wait like a minute or two before shutting the iPad down. didnt seem to help. Tried actually logging out of facebook when I was done with it, worked for about 4 days, and now it has started coming on and coming online again,, I went through my notifications and shut things off,   Well see if it works. thank you.

Trying to change new tab setting to open a specific website every time

When I have a window of Firefox open, and I click to open a "New Tab", I am wanting the new tab to default to Google. Right now, it goes straight to www.trovi.com (a search engine I've actually never heard of until this issue surfaced). I've made Google my home page. I've changed my default search engine to Google. I've updated every setting I can think of, but I'm clearly missing something...because still, when I click to open a new tab, it goes to trovi.com and not Google. I've restarted Firefox. I've completely shut down my computer, turned it back on, and then checked the settings to see if they worked...which they don't. I would even be ok if clicking "New Tab" opened up to a display of recently visited pages in tile format. I just really need trovi.com to go away from my "new page", and am struggling to find out how to do so. I've read the support boards, tried some of the suggestions...nothing is working. Why does my pc not see my new HP 6520 unless I reconnect the printer each time I need to use it?

New HP 6520 is driving me mad. It remains connected to my wi-fi solidly all the time, but my HP notebook (Windows 7) cannot see it unless and until I go through the wireless setup on the printer using the same IP etc.
I have added the HP printer software to the firewall (Norton) traffic rules and added its IP address to my router, to no avail. Otherwise it remains invisible to the rest of the network, which is a huge, huge pain.
Bottom line - I cannot print or scan or use the printer, despite the fact that it remains solidly connected to my network unless I reconnect it from the printer control panel. Seldom have I come across a more user unfiendly piece of kit and would much appreciate someone giving me a steer as to making the darned thing work as it should.

And that, dear cns518, is exactly what I am going to do and never again think of HP when it comes to buying a printer. My son, very experienced, runs his own internet business and he had a go and got it working for a while and then, without reason it stopped again and has reverted to 'you want to print matey?, ,Then best you turn off Wi-FI and then back on again and I might think about it'.
The printer mechanics seem good, but what is the point of such a useless software setup that none seem able to get right. Am off to the store from whence it came tomorrow, so bye-bye HP 6520 and over to something that will work out of the box.
