Can not update aperture 3.1, wrong app store account

I have recently upgraded to Mavericks, and now can not open Aperture, version 3.1.
I tried upgrading to version 3.5, but the app store says I have the wrong apple account for this app.  I only have one Apple account, and all other applications upgrade successfully with it.
Aperture was purchased in a box in version two some years ago, and has been upgreaded a few times, by downloading the upgrade and installing.
I have also moved to a new Mac Pro since the last time I upgraded.
I can find no way to upgrade Aperture, and can no longer use it.  It's essential, I'm a photographer.
Kind Regards,
Michael Hund

Micheal,
you can download updaters for all versions, but Aperture 3.5.  But the manual upgrade should enable you to upgrade to a version that will run with Mavericks at least, even if it will not let you upgrade to 3.5.
On my laptop at home I have Aperture 3.4.5 already
Does Aperture 3.4.5 run with Mavericks, and can you at least open your Aperture library and continue to use Aperture?
The update to Aperture 3.5 is handled very differently from all other updates. What Apple is doing, is transferring your Aperture registration key to an AppStore licence bound to your AppleID.
If you cannot update and get a warning, that your Aperture is tied to a different account, could mean, that there is a problem with your Aperture serial number. I suspect, if someone else had used your serial number to activate Aperture and upgraded it at the AppStore, you cannot use the same serial number again with your own AppleID. Compare the serial number you are seeing in Aperture's "About Aperture" panel with the ones on your Aperture upgrade boxes.  And make sure, that you are signed into the App Store with the same Apple ID on all your Macs, when you are trying the update.
if there should be a problem with the registration code, contact Apple and ask for a replacement serial number:  Pro Application Replacement Serial Numbers
Another frequent problem with upgrading Aperture is, that it only seems to be possible, if your main system language is set to "English". Try to set it temporarily to English, while trying to upgrade.

Not the OP, but I've been having this problem since June (with the exact same error), and logging out and back in hasn't helped.
Helpfully, the store app opens a pop-up every 2 weeks or so to let me know that there are updates I can't access. It's super annoying.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store notice. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.

How can i download lion from 10.6.8 because I can not find the download on the app store?

The only way you could get Lion for free was if you had purchased a new Mac within a certain number of days before Lion's release. Buyers could then get a free upgrade to Lion. That offer is long gone. Otherwise, it's never been free.
Mavericks, 10.9.x is the first OS Apple has ever released for free to everyone (who's Mac can run it).

  • How can I update iWork using the Mac app store?

    HI Judy...
You can only update software from the Mac App Store if the that is where it was purchsed and downloaded from.
Since you installed from the DVD, your updates should be available from your Apple menu > Software Update.

  • Can't update to Lion: Serious Mac App Store problem

I tried twice to update my OS (10.6.8) to Lion via the Mac App Store. Both times I got a failure message shortly before I had downloaded the 3,74 GB, saying the app can't be downloaded and that I have to restart the downloading (original message in German: "Die App kann nicht geladen werden. • I moved my itunes library to an external hard drive and now I can not update my phone and my apps aren't showing in the sidebar of my library. How can I fix this?

I moved my whole library onto an external hard drive but now when I plug my phone in, it can't back up, it can't update and my apps stopped showing up on the side. It still charges and syncs but I can't update the software. I use a PC. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Ok. progress...
So is your media folder called iTunes Music or iTunes Media? And does it have a folder called Music inside it?
Before going any further you should first attempt to use File > Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder "<Media Folder>" (ignore if grayed out). This will make sure that any iPod Games or Mobile Applications get placed inside the iTunes Media folder which is needed for portability.
If your iTunes Media folder is called iTunes Music, close iTunes, rename the folder as iTunes Media and start iTunes again. iTunes will automatically adjust. Close iTunes again.
On your external drive rearrange the folders that you have already copied there so that they match the layout in your active library. You should end up with a folder called X:\iTunes where X: is the external drive letter, and the media folder is X:\iTunes\iTunes Media. If the library layout was upgraded then you will need to create a Music folder inside this and move all the artist folders and Compilations into Music. You will also need to copy iPod Games and Mobile Applications from your internal drive into the new media folder. Next copy the files iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, sentinel and the folder Album Artwork from the internal drive into X:\iTunes. The preceding manipulations should make the internal and external copies of your library match without you having to copy all of the media over again.
Now hold shift as you start iTunes. Click choose, browse to and open X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.
Finally use File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate files. This will ensure that any stray files that might have been added from outside your original media folder will be copied into the new one.
You can now reclaim the space used by your library on the internal drive, however before you do so I would advise you to obtain another external drive and make use of this backup tip.

I was thinking no, because it is a 2006 computer. But I read some articles that said I could. I just want your thought on this. Thanks!

  • Mac is using wrong app store account

Hi, I recently bought a new Air and set it up fine.
I have always used a gmail account for itunes and now app store purchases, but also have a .me email address.
When I setup my new air it used the .me account automatically to set itself up, so now when i go to the app store and there is an update to iphoto etc, it makes me switch accounts and refuses to update it from my gmail account, i have to sign out of the app store and switch to the .me one.
Is there a way to correct this, I get a free update to mountain lion with the air and am worried if it gets put to my me account I wont be able to update my other imac as that is setup on my gmail account.
    Thanks!

Hi, sorry think you have misunderstood.
I know I can select which account to use, but my new macbook air seems to have its OS and the ilife software installed from the .me account, if an update appears it wont let me update while signed into my .gmail account and says i have to sign in as .me
Am worried that if its setup like this i wont be able to use my 1 copy of mountain lion on both computers.
