Can Numbers produce a scatter graph with differently sized dots?

I want to graph a set of points in a scatter graph where each dot will have a different size. How can I do that? How do I have to set up the table? is it a scatter graph or is it a different type of graph that I have to use? which one?

Hello
Welcome to the club.
As far as I know, the responce is No.
We may ungroup the chart's objects and edit them but it would be a tedious task.
You may go to "Provide Numbers Feedback" in the "Numbers" menu, describe what you wish.
Then, cross your fingers, and wait for iWork'09

  • Convert a scatter graph with multiple data series into individual graphs

    I am trying to convert a scatter graph with multiple data series into individual graphs, with the series having the same formatting as in the graph when all series are together.
    Normally, if I delete any series, the color scheme for all the other series vanishes. I can then waste more time in having to re-adjust the  color and shape of the series, but this is tedious. This, I do not want. Is there an automated way to do this?
    Ideally, of course, all series would appear in little subsections in the space of the former one graph, all with individual axes, but I can't have all, so I'll settle with having several individual new graphs, each with just one series, and with the original
    formatting.
    Thx.

    How about creating a copy of the chart, and then setting all series except one to be transparent (no line, no marker)? Repeat for each series.

  • Is it possible to express two y axes on a xy graph with different scale

    Is it possible to express two y axes on a xy graph with different scale
    I need to program it... Please help me

    Hello.
    Yes, it is possible to have two different vertical scales on an xy graph. There is no way that I know of to add a scale programmatically, but once you have added it, you can configure the range of it programmatically, as well as assigning a plot to any particular scale. You do this by using an xy-graph property node, with the properties YScale.Minimum, YScale.Minimum, and Plot.YScaleIndex respectively.

  • How can I share the home folder with different accounts on the same mac?

    Hi, here's a question:
    How can I share the home folder with different accounts on the same mac?
    The whole point being not to have to install all my apps, and move all my files each time between users.
    The second thing would be to be able to modify one document on one account, and have it changed on the other account without having to copy it.
    I would like to have a pro and a private account on my mac.
    Thanks for you answers,
    Doug

    Your apps should not be installed in your home folder--they should be in /Applications where every user can access them.
    If you want to share things between users on the same Mac, use the /Users/Shared folder. Keep your home folder private. Trying to defeat the protections on the home folder subfolders just gets messy. I've never bothered to figure out all of the problems associated with it so I can't explain how to do it.
    Even with using Shared, you would need to alter the ACLs on the shared folder in order to allow both users to modify the documents.
    You must create a Group in Users & Groups and put each user in that group. Then create a folder inside /Users/Shared where you want to share the various files.
    Then, add an ACL to the shared folder that gives the group special permissions. on that folder.
    sudo chmod -R +a "<sharinggroup> allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file,add_subdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directory_inherit" /Users/Shared/<sharing folder>
    Replace <sharinggroup> and <sharingfolder> with the name of your group and your folder. Then, run the command in the Terminal.
    With that ACL, each user in <sharinggroup> will be able to alter the files created by any user in the group in that <sharingfolder>.
    Essentially, the client OS is not designed for true file sharing among the individual users. It is designed to isolate each user account from the others.

  • Numbers point to a cell with different formatting to create conditional format

    Hi all, not sure if this has been brought up but my search efforts haven't found anything. I know conditional formatting is not supported in IOS numbers but I saw a buddy do a little trick a while ago and I've been trying to replicate it. On his iPad, he created a numbers spreadsheet that had a logic function (=if). And if that function was true it pointed to another cell with different formatting. The result was, the cell would become the same format as the cell it was pointing too. This created the effect of a conditional format in a sense. I can get this to work with limited effect, only if the cell is a "text" cell and not a formula. As well the background colour doesn't get picked up, only the format of the cell text itself. I'm trying to get in touch with him for help but in the mean time does anyone have any experience in this kind of method?
    Cheers

    As an example:
    If A > B, then A-B, otherwise make it equal this other cell (D1 for example)
    {=if(a1>b1,a1-b1,d1)}
    And in that d1 cell I would make another formula that also does the same subtraction (a1-b1) however knowing it will be a negative number this time, I paint the cell bright red and hopefully the original cell will then look the same since it is now equal to this one.
    Unfortunately it looks like this wont work. The closest thing to doing this trick I have found is pointing to a cell formatted as text, such as a blank cell. Then the original cell takes on the formatting characteristics of the text cell.  The problem is the text cell is useless since it can't do any sort of math. I can't even set the cell to simply equal another one and format it as text only. So far it looks like the only conditional type of trickery I can do is make the numbers disappear by pointing to a blank text cell.
    I hope that helps describe it a little better.

  • How can i compare two excel files with different no. of records.

    Hi
    I am on to a small project that involves us to compare two excel files. i am able to do it but am struck up at a point. When i compare 2 different .csv files with different no. of lines i am only able to compare upto a point till when the number of lines is same in both the files.
    Eg. if source file has 8 lines and target file has 12 lines. The difference is displayed only till 8 lines and the remaining 4 lines in source lines are not shown.
    Can you help me in displaying those extra 4 lines in source file. I am attaching my code snippet below..
    while (((strLine = br.readLine()) != null) && ((strLine1 = br1.readLine())) != null)
                     String delims = "[;,\t,,,|]";
                    String[] tokens = strLine.split(delims);
                    String[] tokens1 = strLine1.split(delims);
                   if (tokens.length > tokens1.length)
                    for (int i = 0; i < tokens.length; i++) {
                        try {
                            if (!tokens.equals(tokens1[i])) {
    System.out.println(tokens[i] + "<----->" + tokens1[i]);
    out.write(sno + " \t" + lineNo1 + " \t\t" + tokens[i] + "\t\t\t\t" + tokens1[i]);
    out.println();
    sno++;
    } catch (Exception exception)
    out.write(sno + " \t" + lineNo1 + " \t\t" + tokens[i] + "\t\t\t\t" + "");
    out.println();

    A CSV file is not an Excel file.
    But apart from that your logic makes no sense.
    If the 2 files are of different sizes the files are different by definition, so further comparison isn't needed, you're done.
    If you want to compare individual records, you need to compare all records from one file with all records from the other, unless the order of records is important in which case your current system might work.
    That system however is overly complicated for comparing CSV files.
    As you assume a single record per line, and if one can assume those records to have identical layout (so no leading or trailing whitespace in or between columns in one file that's not in the other) comparing records is simply a matter of comparing the entire lines.

  • Can CSS115XX have 2 service group with different upstream?

    Hi,
      Just to ask if CSS can support the architect that 2 service group with different upstream.
      It seems if I set a default route then I can have only one upstream routing path.
      Thanks.

    you can configure mulitple gateway/upstream.
    The CSS by default select the correct route....the one that corresponds to the inbound request.
    So, if request came in from upstream-A the response will be sent through that same upstream.
    This behavior can be modified with the following command :
    CSS11503-2(config)# ip ecmp ?
      address             Choose among alternate paths based on IP addresses
      no-prefer-ingress   Do not prefer the ingress port for the reverse path
                          egress
      roundrobin          Alternate between equal paths in a roundrobin fashion
    CSS11503-2(config)# ip ecmp

  • Can I produce an app preview with my Mac Mini and my iPad 2?

    I want to produce an app preview with my Mac Mini (~2009), which is running Yosemite, and my iPad 2, which is running iOS 8. Is this possible, even though the iPad 2 doesn't have a lightning connector? If it is, what are the steps to do this? I am not tech-illiterate, but I'm new to Mac.

  • In numbers, using a scatter graph, the points come up as circles. Is there a way of changing this so they are crosses like a standard scatter plot?

    I have looked into the settings of the graph but I cant find anything to change this.

    That's not good!  I can't reproduce that problem here. Are you syncing via iCloud with iOS and perhaps opened it there too? And are you sure you're opening the same document? Maybe you have one with the same name in two different places?
    Maybe you will have luck with this:
    If Revert To doesn't work and there's nothing in Time Machine with the chart, you may have to set up the chart again  and, just to be sure, File>Save before you close the document.

  • Can I produce such a result with a single query?

    I am having a table with records like
    A....B
    1....20
    2....19
    3....03
    4....09
    5....74
    6....24
    7....31
    Column A is a primary key and Column B has radomly generated positive integer numbers. I need to generate one more column C with randomly generated positive integer values (including 0) so that -
    1) The values genereated for the Column C must be less than or equal to corresponding value of Column B.
    2). The randomly generated values for Column C should be in such a way so that the sum of values for Column C would be 30% of the sum of values of Column B.
    In our example, the sum(B) = 180. So the sum(C) should be around 54.
    One of the snap of column C can be like this...
    A....B....C
    1....20....14
    2....19....00
    3....03....02
    4....09....03
    5....74....03
    6....24....01
    7....31....31
    ......==-..==
    .....180...54
    How do I write a query to produce such a result?

    You may try the following:
    SQL> CREATE TABLE t AS SELECT ROWNUM a,ROUND(DBMS_RANDOM.VALUE(10,99)) b FROM user_objects WHERE ROWNUM <= 15

    SQL> BREAK on l
    SQL> COMPUTE SUM OF b on l
    SQL> COMPUTE SUM OF c on l
