Can one extract (then edit, modify, etc.) paths created from an image trace? (CS6)

Hiya Adobe community,
This may date me a bit, but long ago I used to use freehand as my defacto drawing tool until I switched to AI. Back in those days, I also used "Streamline" (http://www.adobe.com/products/streamline/) to perform the functions image trace does today. While it's results were somewhat crude, the software provided me the vector points, paths and acnhors i needed. After every trace, I could manually edit the resulting vector traces.
I have been using CS6's tracing feature, but the one thing I cannot figure out for the life of me is the "Bounding box" issue for an imported image. Everytime I trace a drawing, AI's tracing results always place a bounding box around the traced image area. My goal: To trace an item, get rid of the bounding box and extract the outlines and paths so that I can then modify these to my linking.
Can this be done? Im sure it can,... I just cannot find out how. (Or am I making crack wishes?) All I'm saying, if Streamline allowed me to edit paths from a trace, then it'd be a shame if AI CS6 does not.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

What version of iPhoto and system are you running? On the guess that you're running the latest iPhoto, 9.4.2, Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the thumnails, Option #2.
2 - It may take 2-3 attempts so don't give up after only one attempt.

Can I increase the resolution in a jpg created from an imovie clip? I've done the steps to create/extract a "still" from an iMovie clip (which started as a small clip in iphoto). I did the steps of creating the freeze frame, and then doing a "screen shot", but the resolution is only 97 kb, so it won't be good to print. Help!

Why can't I download, edit and tag a photo from the photo stream?, Why can't I download, edit and tag a photo from the photo stream?

I took a few pictures with my iPhone and then imported them to iPhoto. For a reason I don't understand, a few of the pictures from the camera roll didn't get imported and I thought I lost them. But, there they were in the Photo Stream. But I barely understood how to get the pictures from the steam into my library. Plus, when I copied them to the correct album, iPhoto reported that I couldn't edit them since they were downloaded from the stream. Nor could I tag them.
Nor could I share them on Facebook. Finally, I just pasted them into the Facebook album and tagged them there.
This is a mite annoying. Is this how it's supposed to work? Is there no way to actually download and edit and tag a picture from the stream?

Draft slideshow on one Mac, then edit on another?

I am working on a 10 min slideshow in iMovie 8.0.6 on my MacPro at home. The staff at our church has sent me a bunch of pictures and I want to create a lively slideshow to show at a service. I can do the initial draft (picture import, transitions, music) at home; however I need help with clever/informative captions for some of the pictures from other people at church. Is it possible to:
     1. Compose the initial slideshow draft here at home,
     2. Save a functional version of the movie onto a flashdrive,
     3. Import the draft off the flashdrive on a friend's MacBook Pro, having a "working copy" on the laptop
     4. Edit on the laptop (ie, go around the office getting advice on captions, then type them in)
     5. Save the edited version back on my flashdrive
     6. Import the edited version back into iMovie on my home Mac Pro
     7. Then do final editing, send to iDVD, the web, etc.?

This question can only be answered by yourself. If you are craving for composing music do not wait a second.
To make the switch to your new MB easier I would recommend:
Save all your projects on your external HD. When your new MB arrives, copy your key commands and other preferences to your new machine. But sometimes its easier to start from scratch.
If you have personal plug-in settings and sampler instruments you will have more work to import everything to your new mac.

How can I get photos edited in iPhoto to update previously uploaded images in photo stream?

As soon as I import photos to iPhoto on my mac they upload to photostream, which is great, exept when I edit them (for example to remove red eye) they don't update on the photostream so when I look on my iPad they are the origanal photos. Can anyone tell me if there is a way of refreshing the pictures on the photostream with the latest edit. I have tried editing the photostream version but it takes me to the version in my iPhoto library which has already been edited. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

You can't do this.
Photostream is simply - and only - a replacement for importing. Once the file is imported them that's it. Photstream has no further role.

How can I extract all URL's into a list from 'mm_report' file?

I've Googled this with no luck; I have a 'mm_report' in xml format. It contains a lot of text that also includes approx 800 URL links I need to extract these URLs into a separate list. I've tried using a regular expression: href=\"([^\"]+) in 'Find and Replace' which successfully highlights the links but now need to know how to reverse this process so it deletes [strips] all surrounding text & only leaves me with a list of all URL's in this file.
Any advise, much appreciated.

Can I send email address, message, etc. to TB from another application via DLL

I have an application written in Omnis Studio version 4.X. It has the ability to act as a email client but only supports simple password authentication. I can get around this on the Mac by using AppleScript to send the contents of the email, to & from addresses, et. from my application to Mail. mail then acts as the mail client and processes the emails.
I'm looking for a similar solution for my Windows users. Can TB accept a DLL message from another application as a way to pass an email from Omnis to TB?

No Mike, whilst it is probably possible considerable development effort would be required.
Have you looked at the[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Command_line_arguments_%28Thunderbird%29 command line switches]? perhaps they will do the job for you, but you still need to press the Send button to actually send the message.

How can I capture then convert to BMP a screendump from a device in Epson ESC/P printer format?

I am using a Tektronix VM700 which can only output a screendump by "printing" to the serial port. I want to capture this data (of variable length) then convert it to BMP. Has anyone done this before or has an Epson-format-to-BMP routine?

Try this and see if it works. I don't know if there are different Epson formats. This VI handles monochrome pics only.
I had the same problem when a thermal printer died, and I decided to capture the "graphics" per PC instead of on paper. I've been using it for my purposes for years. Dunno if it'll work for you, but you can try it and see. I think my printer worked with ESC/K, but maybe it'll give you a start at least.

Can one sleep main screen with miniDP to HDMI from 27"?

Is it possible to sleep or otherwise disable the main screen on the 27" iMac while outputting via DP or miniDVI to HDMI, if so, how? I have not been able to do similar with the 24", so I was hoping this was now possible.

As far as I know, this is only possible if you use an app such as Front Row to view multimedia, which should do it automatically, or if a particular app has it as a specific built in configuration.

Modifying a PDF created from an Adobe Forms Central form.

I've created a PDF from an Adobe Forms Central online form (Create PDF from web page). I was surprised that all of the text fields were created for me, but was happy that I may not have to reverse engineer everything.
However the layout for the form is for a web-based submission and not really the right size for a PDF that I can attach in an email, potentially for printing. I'd like it to be printable at 8.5X11 if possible. There are also a few aspects of it that I would like to remove since it has instructions and the button for online submission. I want people to have the option of printing or filling out the form, saving it, and replying with it as an attachment.
Is it possible to modify the PDF at this point to reduce its size? Can I remove the instructions on what to do as well as the submit button, especially while saving the background coloring? It seems like there is quite a bit of wasted space with the headers/footers too. At 8.5X14, it still hangs over into page 2.

Steve, if you have access to the form in Formscentral, you can temporarily add a second page in Formscentral. Go to the place you want a page break, and click on the + button on the left top of the field where you want the break, and click on the "Page break". Now when you go to the HTML form it should show you only one page, with a next button to go to the second page. You could then copy the URL into Acrobat's "Create PDF" and get tha page. Then click on the next button in the HTML to go to the second page. You should be able to create the second page from that one too, and then combine the 2 pages in your PDF. When you're done you could remove the page break back in Formscentral.

Cannot fill path correctly after using image trace.

When I pull a regular 2-color photo from the web and use the tracing option, selecting ignore white, then expanding it into a path, it will not fill correctly. Instead of filling the object created, it fills the entire photo area of the original image. Here is a screen recording of an example:

In the video, you'll notice that the fill option after expanding is marked with a "?". I'm not sure why. The goal here is to, after expanding, fill ONLY the image of the cursor.

When selecting "Ignore white", it still creates objects, but doesn't fill them. So you first have to delete unfilled objects, before you can fill the rest of the drawing.

Why can't I run a powershell file I created from a powershell function

Ok so admittedly I am still learning a lot about powershell so this may have a very easy explanation/solution
So I have this script file and this is it in its entirety

Unless I'm completely missing something I would think being able to call other ps1 files from other ps1 files or the command line would be a pretty important part of powershells flexibility.
So if anyone could tell me why in this case it does not work I would greatly appreciate that

in ISE if I write a ps1 file and i have just a function in it not anything calling that function when i run or debug it loads that functions definition into the current session and then from my console i can access my function. so Is that what the . is supposed

Also I know i can do that with the mono letter drive but working on a network over half the alphabet is taken up by my actual network mapped drives.
And the provider i'm writing is connecting to multiple Space IDs that i'm making into my drives so I would quickly run out of letters.
