I bought this very nice iMac. The first time I ever use a Apple product. Can someone please tell me where the delete key is on the keyboard. I cannot think for one moment that Apple did not provide for such a key. Please help.

The delete key does a backward delete because it is the natural way to delete while typing. May not be to you and the millions of youngsters who grew up with windows computers. When you are typing and want to delete that which you just typed you are already at the end and you delete back to where you want to re-type. When you go back to a document and want to delete a selection, you have to go to the end of the selection instead of the beginning. it's just the way its always been done on macs. it takes some getting use to.
If you select text to be deleted with your mouse then the delete key deletes the selected text. same for either delete key method.
It is not convenient when you tab to fields in a form. That why fn-delete does a forward delete.
Macs have a couple of keyboards. The small "wireless keyboard" only has the (backward) delete (fn-delete forward). The larger "Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad" has both a Delete (backwards) key beside the = abd it has the "delete >" key in the groups with fn, home, end, Pg up and Pg dn. This keyboard is best for users who have switched from windows or are familiar with the windows forward delete.

  • Can anyone please tell me how the attribute node in LABVIEW ( ver 5) in builtin INSTRUMENT I/O exampe file

Can anyone please tell me how the attribute node in LABVIEW ( ver 5) in builtin INSTRUMENT I/O exampe file works and how it is being made.............

    Samura,
After running LabVIEW 5.1 I found in the Search Examples help file a link titled Instrument I/O. Under there I see several examples, one of which contains many attribute nodes. It is difficult for me to tell you pecifically what the purpose of each and every attribute node in this forum.
Generally, attribute nodes in LabVIEW 5.1 are used to set the properties of the front panel controls and indicators. The properties available in an attribute node are very similar to the properties made available by right clicking on a particular front panel control or indicator.
If you have a question about a specific attribute node, I would like to ask you to post in a new thread with a detailed description of the attribute node.
Thank you, and have a great day

  • Hi, can someone please tell me why the spell check in pages doesn't work. I went to preferences and enabled this auto spell checker and have set the language to british english. But still it doesn't work while it works perfectly in TextEdit.

Hi, can someone please tell me why the spell check in pages doesn't work. I went to preferences and enabled this auto spell checker and have set the language to british english. But still it doesn't work while it works perfectly in TextEdit.

    Inspector > Text > More > Language
Only applies to selected text, like making it a particular font.
It is not a setting that sticks. If you continue to paste in text from elsewhere particularly the Internet it will have a different or None language set to it. You need to select it and make it B.E.

  • Can someone please tell me what the name "radio" over a telephone contact means.

Can someone please tell me what the name "radio" stands for over a telephone contact.

"Radio" seems to be the default label if you're using an Exchange account. Just go into the contact, tap "Edit" in the upper right. Tap the word "radio" and select the label you'd prefer to use.

  • Can anyone please tell me why the "Do you want to restart your computer now" window keeps popping up every two minutes? Please help! Its driving me nuts?

    Hi all.
I need some help. I have recently installed a new Hard Drive in my Macbook and have re-installed Snow Leopard. Since doing so there have been a few things that haven't been quite the same.
    1) Certain buttons decided they didnt want to work anymore. These being the Space Bar, the Tab key, all four arrow keys, Caps lock, Volume up, Eject, and a few others.
After putting up with this for a couple of weeks and looking at numerous forums, they all of a sudden came back to life (Hence why I'm actually able to type this message) THEN, they packed up again. Then started again, then packed again, and so on. They seem to have a mind of their own.
Please... does anyone know whats going on? Is it a hardware prob? Is it something to do with the way Ive installed the Hard Drive? Have I forgotten to do something?
    2) Ever since my buttons initially came back to life, the "Do you want to restart you computer?" window keeps popping up every couple of minutes.
It's the window that says "Restart, Sleep, Cancel, Shut Down"
It's driving me insane and I can't help but think that the two probs are related.
If anyone out there has any ideas at all, they would be most welcome.
    Many thanks in advance
    MadDogSnaps

Have you tried reinstalling the original drive? Same symptoms with it?

  • Can someone please tell me when the unlocked iPhone 5 is coming in U.S???!!

  • Can some please tell me about backing up on iTunes!?

    I am having so many problems with this at the moment;
Basically, everytime I plug in my iPhone it automatically backs up, and then stops towards the end complaining there is not enough space left on the disk (I had 70mb thanks to this backup). However, I then I plug it back in again, and it starts the back-up as usual, then complains again that it did not have enough space! By this time the memory has gone down to a brilliant 0 KB, yes, nothing! How can I resolve this? Should I delete the back up, and start over again? I know where it is, and it's 7.5GB big, plus two folders next to it. Should I delete everything concerning the backup files, and then plug the iPhone back in and let it back itself up again?
Please help! Need it done so soon : )
    Thanks a lot!

You can't do it directly on the iPad, you can only do when connected to your computer's iTunes. You can then remove it from the list of the music that you sync to the iPad and re-sync.

  • Can you please tell me about this MacBook Pro?

Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully helping me out. I am a first time Mac purchaser and I feel a bit out of my element here.
I am thinking of buying this MacBook Pro
    (http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB604?mco=MTM3NDgzMzY)
If am not using the computer for editing or games, it will be for watching movie on-line and my dvd's.
    Questions:
1.) The add says the computer has 4gigs of RAM. 256MB of shared RAM. And finally, a 512MB of graphics memory. What does this mean exactly? What does shared mean for this setup? Please feel free to give me as much info as possible.
2.) Overall, would it be a mistake to get this computer?
3.) Is that a decent amount of RAM and stuff for the video cards to work and also allow the OS to run well?
4.) When was this MacBook Pro made? Is it like from 2007 or something? Is this pretty much a new model or is it one of the first uni-body models a few years back?
Thank you for helping me out.

The MacBook Pro you are considering is an early 2009 model. I own two of the 17" MacBook Pros the late 2008 models with the removable batteries. I looked hard and long and found one still on the shelf as NOS and bought it for the wife. I am not fond of the internal batteries like the model you are considering. When it comes time to change it--and that time will certainly come--it's not as snappy as push a button and remove.
4GB of ram on this computer is plenty. Today. 8GB is the future benchmark. I have 16GB in my i7 which tells you where ram is going to be. You can update ram cheaply at any time. Buying a computer is like owning a garage. You keep adding stuff until one day you drive home to find there is no room to park the car in the garage. Buy the most ram, best processor and biggest hard drive you can grow into for the next few years.
Here are the answers to your questions:
RAM: the power to work quickly.
RAM (Random Access Memory) is the memory your Mac uses to run software applications and store frequently accessed data. Adding RAM improves the performance of your entire experience: opening and working with large files; using the Finder and other elements of Mac OS X; and running graphics, audio, video, and scientific applications. In addition, more RAM speeds up your computer when you have lots of applications open at the same time.
Hard drive: room to work and play.
The hard drive is where your Mac stores all your data when you’re not using it. The capacity of a hard drive, measured in gigabytes, or GB, tells you how much room you have to store your files and applications. A typical application today may take 10 to 50 megabytes (MB); photos may take up about 2-4MB each; graphics files can occupy more than 100MB; and video files are often many gigabytes in size.
The standard hard drive in every Mac offers enough space for average users to store their documents and digital media. If you’re a photo, music, or video aficionado who likes to collect media files, a larger hard drive will give you room to grow your collection.
Processor: the high-speed engine of your Mac.
The processor is the brains of your Mac. Every second, it completes the billions of calculations needed to perform every computing task. Most Mac models feature the Intel Core 2 Duo family of processors, with twin processor cores that pack twice the power of a standard processor in the same space.
With many Mac models, you can upgrade the processor to a faster speed. If you plan to do processor-intensive tasks such as video rendering, gaming, and working with large, multi-track audio files, a faster processor can improve the performance of your Mac.
Graphics processor: your world in high resolution.
A graphics processor is simply a processor dedicated to turning huge amounts of data into graphics and video output. By taking this task away from the main processor, a graphics processor also makes the entire system faster and more responsive.

  • Please tell me about the start and end of a loop at main

    part of the table?
I have put a table into the smartform page and I do not know how to use loop and program lines.
For what purpose should I use these?
    Any contributions will be rewarded.
    Thanks.Deniz.

Loop and endloop in smartform - if you want to print multiple data for each header ,then we need to use..
one example : i have sales order - order may contains more than one item..if you want to print multiple items then we need to go for loop endloop.
Program lines - without effecting program - we can change the code within smartform( I mean we can pass the values and get the values based on condition )
i am getting material number from program and i am printing here, later on customer is looking for material description, then you can write simple code within samrtform by using program lines.

  • Can someone please tell me where the DLM for Flash Player is?

I cannot get Flash Player to install and the help says to use the Download Manager but I cannot find it anywhere. I would appreciate any help I can get with this. Thank you!

My recommendation would be not to use the download manager; download the executable installer for your environment directly from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
If you still have problems, please specify your operating system & version, as well as your browser(s) & version(s).

  • Can someone please tell me what the app is called for Microsoft Word?

I can only find MS Templates, but it requires MS Word to run so I'm confused?

You have to get Word from Microsoft - for a free 30-day trial, see here.
The Word templates you have may be able to be opened by Pages - from the App Store. Much less expensive than the Office suite. Even less expensive (as in free) is LibreOffice - which will open Word files and save in Word format.
    Good luck,

  • Please tell me about the lid/screen "latch"

So the MacBook Air has magnets to help hold it closed? The magnets are on the two corners or all along the edge or in place of the old style middle latch?
Sorry to be ignorant. I am not close to a mac store and have never seen an Air other than pictures.
I don't like how the corners curl up on the Pro and am hoping the Air seals out dirt better. (Yes I may just get/make a bag for it.)
I am torn between making my first "laptop" a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro. I don't play any games or do editing of vid etc. However I may watch a movie from time to time. The ultra light weight and compactness is attractive for I travel by bicycle often.

Wow cool! Let me see if I got that right; in the representation bellow if the "+" is the eye isight, the vertical lines are the left and right sides of the lid then the magnets are where the "#" are yes? Very nice of you to take the time. Any annoying limitations you run into using your Air for what you got it for?
    I # + # I
PS: it looks to me in the preview that the rep I made up will not show in the discussions as I had hoped.
So . . . the left mag is roughly two inches from the left edge and the right mag is halfway between the camera and the right edge?
