Can one prevent changes to their contact book?

I am posing this question because I am in need of advice. My autistic brother is 22 and was gifted an iPhone 5S from myself and my parents this past Christmas. It has greatly aided in communication skills and growth with family members and close family friends. Due to this, he has gotten ahold of our large family phonebook and added every number, home/work/school email/physical address, birthday, etc. to his Contact Book on his iPhone. However, some of the contact information we have isn't valid anymore and yet, he still contacts these numbers via text, phone call, or email. Folks on the other end usually do not understand what is going on, nor do they really appreciate it. After logging onto his iCloud account and deleting these outdated contacts, he cleverly re-added these numbers in. We want to give my brother his privacy to communicate with family/friends whenever he so pleases, but we do not like that he keeps trying contact these outdated contacts.
So, this is where you come in! Is there a way to prevent the addition or edit of contacts in his contact book? I understand that there are parental controls that allow one to prevent the addition, edit, or deleting of mail, contact, or calendar accounts, however, it doesn't seem to disable the addition/edit/deleting of actual contacts. Ideally, we'd like to be able to delete numbers and addresses that aren't valid, and then "freeze" the addition of more numbers from him...

You can do that from the iPad itself.
Go into your iPad and touch the Settings icon. Then, from the left-hand list, choose "iTunes & App Store."
This will give you a section about "Automatic Downloads." There you can enable or disable Music, Apps, and Updates.

Why are people recieving my messages from my e-mail instead of just my name in their contact book?

When I send someone a message on iMessage, on their phone the name comes up as my email address instead of my name in their contact list, and it is seperate from the message that they sent me via imessage. How can I fix this?

Is the email address selected for your Caller ID available as an email address for your contact info in the recipient's Contacts?

HT5517 In multiple Apple TV's installation how can one prevent one iOS device from taking over the connection of another iOS device?

I am working on a system design where I would like to install 5 Apple TV's so when clients walk in with their iPhones they can connect to the network and be able to stream their audio to facility zone speakers where they will be working. But I am looking to prevent others from taking over that connection. I have never installed multiple Apple TV's in one site but I assume one would name them differently (Apple TV 1 - 5) when setting them up. I am also assuming when I walk in with my iphone and use the airplay I would see all 5 Apple TV's listed. Once I choose Apple TV 1 for instance, I do not want others to walk in and see Apple TV 1 on the list any longer so they do not have the oportunity to select it inadvertantly. Is this doable?

You can't remove them from the list, but you can set a password for airplay to each Apple TV

Why can't I change caregivers or contacts on my GizmoPal without completely resetting the device? Accessing from an iphone 6. Have tried Verizon and LG customer service with no help or resolution.

I have an iphone 6. Recently purchased a gizmo pal for my son. Set up was easy. Works great. However, I want to be able to change caregivers when I leave him with someone so that they can call him and he can call them. The only way to do this is to reset the entire device. Shouldn't be that way ... seems that you should be able to click on the caregiver and change it. Anyone else have this problem or a resolution? Verizon and LG have both been unsuccessful in helping.

With Multiple Users--Can One User Change The Download Location of iTunes?

Hi Everyone--
We have separate user accounts on our computer so that my dh and I can each have our own iTunes accts. However, we've run out of room on our C: drive. Now I know you can move where iTunes downloads--either external hd or the D: drive. But if I move where my iTunes downloads to, will it mess up where his downloads to? I'd really hate to mess up or merge our downloads.

Both of your itunes preferences are separate. If you change yours, it will not affect his.
My advice is to consolidate your library to wherever you want it, and then consolidate his. If you just move the files around in Win Explorer, iTunes will still be looking for them on C: and not be able to play them.

How can one prevent passing exceptions over an EJB-Webservice?

I would appreciate if someone could give me some advice on the following. I tried to google it/use the search function, however, it was quite hard finding a precise search term.
Let me try to explain the setting conceptionally without much code first.
Three stateless session beans - let's call them BeanA, BeanB and BeanC - perform some specific tasks. Especially, they are using JPA to create and manipulate persistent entities. Clients like graphical user interfaces access these beans. I call them internal clients because they belong the same company like BeanA, BeanB and BeanC. Internal clients can know how to handle exceptions which are thrown in the beans.
However, the functionality of these beans is also relevant to external clients, for example another company. A webservice (WebserviceBean) combines the functionality of the three beans and communicates with the external client. The latter one must not receive any exceptions thrown in my EJB application as this could leak implementation details but they must be informed, that the task could not be performed (some kind of "Please try again later"). As far as I understood (also tested it), JAX-WS takes exceptions and turns them into SOAP-Faults.
My first (naive) approach was to do something like this

The problem is, that doMoreWork() uses an entity with a versioning attribute (@version) in order to support optimistic locking. This works quite well, however, whenever an OptimisticLockException is thrown, it does not get caught in WebserviceBean and is passed on to the client. I think this is because the complete transaction is commited at the end of doWebserviceFunctionality. I am aware that I could use EntityManager's flush method in bean B in order to catch the OptimisticLockException. However, I am trying not to interfere with transaction commiting as far as possible and furthermore, I am not quite sure, if there could be other exceptions (for example JPA exceptions) which could get thrown in a similar way and are passed on to the client.
Does anybody know a possibility to solve this problem? Do I have to use bean managed transactions? Or mark doWebserviceFunctionality as not part of an transaction and put the bean method calls in a seperate method which commits at the end and allows me to handle exceptions? Or is there a completely different approach necessary?

I'll tell you so far the lessons I've learned.
1) Using interceptors (suggested by malrawi)
This would have been a very nice solution, however, it turns out that the problem remains - the exception thrown by the container after the commit is not caught. Here is the code I used

Essentially it's the same as the idea with the internalMethod made public and using another transaction attribute.

Contact Book PSE7 malfunctioning

Hello, it seems i would need some help.
I cannot make any changes to my Contact Book anymore. All the changes I make (adding or deleting) are no saved.
It may be due to the fact that i tried to import a large amout of contacts from outlook and it crushed since?
How can I reset the contact book?
Is there a file to delete ?
Please anyone if you know how to get around the problem.

The address book is stored in the file "contacts.xml". See this tech note for likely locations:

Make sure you follow the directions and configure Windows Explorer to show hidden files.
I believe that sometimes PSE stores "contacts.xml" in other locations (perhaps if you've upgraded from earlier versions), so if you can't find "contacts.xml" or deleting the one you find doesn't help, see your entire C drive for other instances.

Contact book erase by error with ICloud

Hi,
my young son received his macbook pro 10.8.2 yesterday. He used his mother apple id for ICloud and he erases in Contact bok all his mother's contacts. The next morning his mother's Iphone run out of contacts. Can I do now ? The computer links to iphone was not set for backup. I called Apple the tech, he told me than there is no copy of contacts on hard drive's MacBook. But if I turn off the Wifi, I can read my son's new contact book. I want to know if there was a full copy of original contac book on hard drive's Mac Book ? In this case, i could use a recovery data software.

If your contacts were synced to your Mac, then yes they will have been written to it's hard drive at some point. Whether data recovery software can recover your contacts or not is another question and one that can't be answered because there is no guarantees with data recovery as to what can be recovered.

Contact book deletes my entries

Can you help me establish a contact book for photo mail? I am using Photoshop 11 on Windows 7. I have done everything the manual requires and my entries are not remembered.

Just to clarify - if you add a contact & choose save, close that contact's 'page' then choose add contact enter the new details it edits/overwrites the previous contact's entry?
Have you restarted the device by holing the on/off button & the home button until you see the Apple logo?

Recently the ID on sent texts comes thru as my Apple ID but no one knows me by that name/email. Can this be changed so that I come thru as my name if I'm a contact in their phone?

Check Settings>Messages>Send & Receive to make sure your phone number is listed and checked under "Start new conversations from". That was cause your iMessages to be addressed from your phone number rather than an email address. If the recipient has your number in their contacts, it will show as being from your name.

Can't change email address in 4.0 Contact book

I need to change my email address in the Sharing palette of the Contact book (as accessed from the Photo Browser). When I highlight my address in the recipient list and then go to Edit, I get a message saying "This contact is used by a print recipient in the Order Prints palette. To edit this contact, select it in the Order Prints palette and edit it using the Order Prints palette's Edit button." So, I go to the Order Prints palette (as accessed from the Photo Browser) and go to the recipients list. My information including the email address is in the "default" section - first in list. This information is the correct email address so I don't need to change that one. (Note: I can't remember how I got it in the default section in the first place). I tried to just delete the email address so that I could then edit it in the Sharing palette recipient list, but when I delete each line of my information and leave that page, it has not been deleted. I assume it has something to do with the fact that it is a default address. How do I get rid of my contact information as the default or is there another way to change my email address in the Sharing recipient list without having to do something in the Order Prints recipient list. I called the Help desk, but they don't support Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 anymore. Thank you.

Basically, I have fixed the problem by just
putting in my new email address and leaving the
old one in there because I can't seem to delete
it. I go to Edit - Contact Book, and highlight
my old email address in the list and click on
Delete. I get a message box saying:
"One or more selected contacts have matching
Order Prints recipients. Before you can delete
this contact, you must first delete the recipient
from the Order Prints palette." So I go to the
Order Prints palette, and my old email address
isn't even in there. I had changed it over a year

line is; that I can't delete my old email address
from the recipient list, but since I added my new
one, I can live with it that way. Since this
Photoshop program is set up with Kodak Gallery,
it might be the Kodak Gallery part of the process
that is not letting me do this. (I just want my
address in there to email a photo to myself once
in awhile to see how it comes up.) I have no
problem deleting and editing other peoples'
addresses. I have Adobe Photoshop 4.0, which I
know is quite old and now has no online support,

some sites that use flash (or other issues) dont want you trying to view the site in your browser on an ios device, because they know it will not be a good experience - they detect your device, and if it is an ios device they want you to use their app instead of your browser.

This itextsharp is third party control, for this issue, I recommended to consult the control provider directly, I think they can give more precise troubleshooting.
