Can only access one web site

I can only access one web site . www.cisco.com. I am connected to the internet via a lynksys DSL Router, I am using dhcp and NAT from the Lynksys note:works fine for 3 other windows based pc's.
when I try to connect to any other site the page Hangs during load and neve displays.
I can ping all of the web sites that do not come up
I am using a SunBlade 100 and did a new install. I tried the install with webstart and had the same result during the install. again I can only open sucessfully www.cisco.com.

Hello!
I am getting this error, but the above fix does not solve the issue, however I do know what has caused it.
I have an edmx file in a WCF webservice which feeds a silverlight app.  The edmx is quite complex and a bit fragile, but was working fine up until I introduced our Industry Codes view into the model.  The view is basically { ID, ParentID, Name, ... }.  In my model I have created an association to itself which describes Children(*)/Parent(0/1) so I have a nice and tidy hierarchical structure.  The edmx and the service build without any errors - hurrah!  However, when I update the service reference I then get the below error (and a whole load of others as none of the webservice objects exist anymore):
Error 21 Custom tool error: Failed to generate code for the service reference 'WCF_ContactAdmin'.  Please check other error and warning messages for details. X:\2008-054 ContactAdmin_Silverlight\Contact2_Admin_Silverlight\Service References\WCF_ContactAdmin\Reference.svcmap 1 1 Contact2_Admin_Silverlight
When I try the fix mentioned in the link above this error disappears, but then so do all the objects in the datamodel, so I cannot continue from there.
Having the hierarchical data objects defined in the EDM will make like so much easier in future, any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you!!

  • Can't access one web site

I can browse the web perfectly with OS X 10.5.7 and Safari 4.0.2 except for one site - Northumberland County Council. Using both Safari and Firefox I just get 'Loading...' for several minutes then the message:
"Safari can’t open the page “http://www.northumberland.gov.uk/” because the server where this page is located isn’t responding."
I can access this site fine from my work pc using IE or Firefox. I have asked for advice on my ISP's forums, but because the site seems to work fine for others am not getting anywhere. I would appreciate any advice on where I should start looking for the problem.
I have an Intel Mac mini connected to the internet with a Thomson TG585 router.

Thanks sitspotsit, it seems to work fine from every computer except this one
I did add the OpenDNS servers a couple of days ago hoping that would fix it, but no change I'm afraid.
I assume I'm correct in adding them to my Airport/Advanced/DNS settings as I connect wirelessly to my router and don't use the ethernet?

  • I have two apple accounts, but can only access one. I did all the steps to recover the older account's password but nothing worked. I need to access the older account to update apps. Also would there be a way to just combine both accounts?

Were you able to reset the account's password ? If not then how did you try to get it reset e.g. http://iforgot.apple.com (which would have sent it to the rescue email address if you have one on that account) ? You can also try contacting iTunes Support in your country to get it reset : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
And no, accounts can't be merged nor content transferred between accounts.

  • Can't access some web sites with safari

Can't access financial web site since time before last of safari update. Any help?

In my original post, not today's, I had said I was having the issues on the Mini, running OSX 10.6.8 and Safari v.5.1.5 for my bank's pill pay. I should have been more specific as to which machine and OSX Safari browser I'm having the T-Mobile problem with. My mistake.
It is on both the MacMini and now the Air too. A moment ago, I was able to log in to my.t-mobile.com on the Air, but after putting into my Bookmarks folder, I can't do it anymore. The Log in button comes up greyed out instead of green.
I'm also still having trouble with my bank's bill pay section on both computers too.
I wonder if it's related to the saving of the log in info or putting in the Bookmark Folder?

  • Can't access the web-site in my home folder from the internet.  Need help.

I am trying to publish a website from the Sites folder in my home directory. The website is made and I can access it from from every computer within my ethernet. But despite a couple attempts I made I can not get the website published on the internet.
I have an Airport Express station. Two Macs and one PC are using the ethernet. As far as I can tell the Airport Express station is directly connected to the internet. I live in a brand new apartment which has Lan outlets in every room next to the electricity outlets. I have a single designated internet IP address.
To open my computer to the internet I set the "Default Host Option" in the Airport Administrator Utility and selected the default three digits for the "Default Host option" IP address. Then I updated the Airport Express station, manually set the IP address in the Network preferences on my Mac to the "Default Host option" IP address and activated Personal Web Sharing in the Sharing preferences. By doing so I lost my internet connection. It turned out I still had the same IP address that I had before I selected Default Host Option.
As I understand with the Default Host Option I designate one IP address within the ethernet to receive all traffic from outside. But how do you now tell the Airport Express station which computer on the ethernet will be the host for the incoming traffic carrying the Default Host Option IP address? Apparently just setting the IP address manually in the clients computer Network preferences to the "Default Host Option" IP address doesn't tell the Airport Express station to change the IP address it has assigned to this client to the Default Host Option IP address.
In another attempt to make my website accessible on the internet I removed the Default Host Option and instead opened Public Port 80 and Private Port 80 for the IP address of the client computer in the Port Mapping tap of the Airport Administrator Utility. But again, no access to my website from the internet.
To access the website from within the ethernet I use the following web-link, which works fine:
    http://192.xxx.x.x/~user/index.html
The internet of course doesn't see the 193 IP address. It only sees the Public IP address. Therefore I used the Public address instead of the Private IP address to connect to my website from the internet:
    http://222.xxx.xxx.xxx/~user/index.html
But as I said, I still can't access the website from the internet.
I have the feeling that I conceptually don't understand something correctly. I would appreciate if somebody could help me with this problem.

If you would rather not mess with the registry you can often work round with a shift key start.
Hold down the shift key and start iTunes, keep holding down the shift key until you are asked to choose or create a library. If you already have one, navigate to your iTunes folder and choose iTunes Library.itl. Otherwise create a new library in My music.

  • Can connect to WLAN, but can't access any web site...

I have a Nokia E61 that I have configured to access my wirless home network (Linksys). I use personal WPA security, and my SSID is hidden. I loaded the proper settings into an access point setting and when I go to Web, the phone shows that it connects to my Linksys router, but the web page never loads. I eventually get a time out error. If I connect to the same website using GPRS, it loads without any problem.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks for the reply!
I have looked at my RV082's firewall setup, but don't see anything out of the ordinary. I even disabled the firewall, but it didn't seem to make any difference. What did you have in mind that I should check?
I get the following error on the E61 when I try to access an Internet website: "Web: Connection Time Out". It takes about a minute or two for the E61 to generate that error.
Regarding the RV082's ability to assign devices to the right subnet, I have three other PCs on my network (2x Windows XP, 1x Windows 98SE), and they have always connected the first time and every time with no issue. How would I check which subnet the RV082 is assigning to the phone? On a PC, I usually do an "ipconfig /all" at the command line and see what's assigned. Is there an equivalent command for the E61 that I could enter while I'm connected?
If I remove the RV082 and plug my WAP54G directly into my cable modem, then my E61 can access the Internet. So it's definitely an incompatiblity with the settings in the RV082 and the E61. But before I/we blame the RV082, I have more or less the same problem at my employer's office: I can connect to the office network, but can't access any sites outside the company network. The only difference is the E61's error message: at work I get a "no gateway response" error within a few seconds. It's a company with around 200 employees at that site, and we're certainly not using an RV082 in the office. I have not tried to call Linksys support yet because in fairness to them, they won't know jack s*** about the E61 and how to configure/check the settings.
Is there something about the DNS settings in the E61 that I'm setting incorrectly? I have them set to Automatic in both IPv4 and IPv6 settings, which is how my PCs are setup at home and what my IT guy at work tells me should be OK.
Thanks in advance for any more advice!
BTW, I'm no big fan of Linkys either, but I've had zero problems with my Linksys products. Also, when I have had to contact Linksys for help with a setup, they have always eventually come through and solved the problem. I've tried contacting Nokia and can't even get a live person that can do anything (the E61 isn't supported by Nokia USA, and the UK phone number they gave me was just a recording). If anything, I'm ready to hurl my E61 through the window right now as I've spent way too many hours trying to get this thing to work.

  • How to enter a secure address in security so i can have access to web site

I used to be able to enter an address from a secure website and be able to access when I had internet explorer and with firefox I dont know where to enter address so I can access the secured we site.

Firefox doesn't have security zones like Internet Explorer. There's no Trusted Sites list to add sites to. Normally, web sites simply work, whether they're secure or not.
If secure websites don't load, see the following article.
    * [[Websites don't load - troubleshoot and fix error messages]]
If the website does load but you're having some other problem with it, see the following article.
    * [[Websites look wrong or appear differently than they should]]
If neither of those answer your question, please post a link to the site and or a description of what doesn't work, or whatever error message is displayed.

  • Can only access one Mac via Back to my Mac

I have Back to My Mac set up on my home Mac and two Macs at my office. I can successfully connect to one of the Macs at the office from home, but not the other.
Both office Macs are running Mountain Lion, have Back to My Mac enabled with the same iCloud account credentials, and are on the same LAN/router/switch. My home Mac is running 10.7.5 and cannot be upgraded to 10.8 (it's a very old Mac Pro 1,1.)
Because both office Macs are on the same LAN, those Macs can see one another in the Shared Sidebar in Finder, and I can Screen Connect that way, but I can't access the second office Mac from home for some reason.
I've tried stopping/starting Back to My Mac on the troublesome Mac numerous times (as well as my home Mac), and followed the instructions elsewhere on Apple's site to delete all the Back to my Mac Keychains and recycle the connection, but it didn't help.
Because it's a corporate network, I don't have direct access to the router settings (both work Macs complain that NAT-PMP and/or UPnP aren't on, but since I can still connect to one work Mac from home, that doesn't appear to be the problem.) Both Macs are connected exactly to the network the same way, though, so I'm confused as to why one Mac works while the other doesn't.
Are there any other settings I can check or confirm on the problematic Mac? Am I incorrect in assuming I should be able to connect to two different Macs remotely using the same iCloud account? I just assumed all the Macs I have would be connectable via Back to My Mac if they used the same credentials.
    Thanks,
    R

    Hello Robbie,
Thank you so much for the details you provided reguarding the Back to My Mac trouble you are experiencing.  You have taken some really good troubleshooting steps already, but I recommend reviewing the steps in the section titled "Troubleshooting Back to My Mac" in the following article (you can skip the steps you have already gone through):

  • Can't Access One Particular Site

OK, I'll admit up front that this question might not really be an airport question (but, then again it might be).
I'm trying to access the website http://www.puzzlepirates.com/ from my folks home, on a wireless network using an airport extreme router. I can't access the site. I can access every other site that I try. I've tried on three different computers (same network), so I don't believe that the problem is related to the computer.
I've contacted two friends who are able to access the site just fine from their computers/internet connections.
I've called my parents ISP (multiple times), one of the people I spoke to, told me that they could access the site, two other told me that they couldn't. One customer service person I spoke to, said it can't be the ISP that is the problem, because they are using a different ISP and they can't access it. All of them pretty much said that it has nothing to do with them.
Is there any chance that the problem is in my parents airport router?
If not, any ideas where to turn in resolving this problem?
    Thanks,
    Tim Erickson

Hello stpaul_tim. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
To rule out the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) as the cause, if you connect your computer directly to your folks's cable modem, can you access this site now?
If so, then the AEBS's DNS settings may be incorrect. By default both of the ISP's DNS servers should be listed on the AirPort Utility's Internet > Internet Connection tab. Check to see if these are the correct ones provided by their ISP. These should also be the same ones your computer would have received when it was directly connected to the modem.
If they are not the correct ones, enter the proper ones, and then, after resetting the AEBS try connecting to that particular website.
If you are still unsuccessful, try using one of the free DNS services, like OpenDNS. Use their DNS server IP addresses instead of the ones provided by the ISP.

  • Can not access local web sites

    Hi,
on my Mac Mini running Lion I cannot access any local web site
    Normally, entering
    http://localhost/~shortname/
would ad least show the index.html page located in the sites (Websites on German systems) folder, which I still can display w/o the webserver running by clicking on it)
However, I get the error message:
"you don't have permission to access /~shortname/ on this server"
This happens in Mountain Lion too, where I started the web server using the Web Sharing preference pane from
    http://clickontyler.com/blog/2012/02/web-sharing-mountain-lion/
Any idea? I need this badly, because I am doing some little web dev
    Thank you

Solved it, turned on FTP on Mountain Lion,
    sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist

  • Can't access some web sites with version 4.0

I recently installed version 4.0 and am in test phase of the server.
With or without ACL's turned on, I can't access the following web site
    https://www.sunnet.sunlife.com/member/signin/index.asp?
    or
    https://www.sunnet.sunlife.com/member/
In Internet Explorer, it sits on a blank page with the little world logo spinning around until it finally times out after a few minutes. I've tried accessing these sites with both IE6 and IE 5.5 and get the same problem.
As a footnote, the web access to these sites works fine with our current Web Proxy version 3.6.
Does anyone have any ideas why this isn't working through the new Proxy 4.0?
    Thanks

I did some additional testing through Proxy 4. All web sites and web pages including secure sites that I tried accessing over the past couple of days all appear to work fine with the exception of the forementioned sites. Access to these specific web pages (which I cannot currently access) are part of our day-to-day business requirements, and therefore will prevent me from using Proxy version 4.0 as our production proxy unless I can figure out why these web pages won't load, and how to fix the problem.
As an experiment, I tried to access these web pages through Proxy 4 with Mozilla FireFox and Netscape 7. None of these web browsers (including Internet Explorer) will bring up these web pages when going through Proxy 4. But bypassing the proxy or going through our v3.6 proxy works fine for these web pages everytime, and with all browsers. This leads me to believe that this web page access problem is not a browser specific problem, but something in Proxy 4 isn't processing the request to display the page properly.
As a reference, the web site in question is http://www.sunlife.ca. On the left hand side of the page go to "Sign In" then "Plan Members". Thats where the request hangs through Proxy 4 no matter which browser I use, including Netscape... but works perfectly fine with Proxy v3.6.
Can someone who is running a version 4 Proxy also please try to access the SunLife Members login page and see if it works or fails for you?
    Thanks

  • Cant access one web site!!! Help.

Suddenly cant access a forum I have been using for years.
Have cleared cookies, history and just about everything that can be cleared.
Tried on Safari, Firefox and also a cheapo Dell with XP on Firefox, IE etc...
Friends can access the site. It is a very small site and the owner hasnt made an appearance since...
This happened a month ago. I was able to get on with a proxy. Once on with the proxy something happened and I was able to access the site without the proxy but this time I can access the site with the proxy but cant sign in with the proxy as was able to do last month...
Any suggestions to get back onto the normal setting? I am on DSL with Verizon. Dell is hard wired and MBP is airport... I get either a blank page or a page cannot be found message.
    thanks for any suggestions.

Thank you for the response... yes, I knew it was all gonna be a bit confusing, sorry.
At least I learned something... I wasnt aware of Safaris Proxie settings. I was using a web based free proxie: xroxy.com which in the past not only allowed me to gain entrance to the home page and log in and after that the site worked without the proxy site???
This time xroxy.com allows me into the home page but cant log in. Again, this is both on the MBP with Safari & Firefox and a Dell with XP with Firefox, IE & just tried Windows Safari. I enter my login info, it shows the thank you for logging in and then a blank page.
If I try without the proxy site I simply get a blank page - no home page, no login page, NOTHING. Earlier yesterday I was getting a "server is too busy at the moment" page or the page cannot be found. Again, NOW nothing, just a white/blank page!
In the Safari Proxy setting everything is as you describe. Nothing is checked in either the Manual or PAC sections except for this *.local, 169.254/16 in the "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains. Should I keep this as is or remove it?
If there is nothing else to do with the setting of the MBP & browsers or Dell XP & browsers the next step will be to contact Verizon and ask about setting the router..
    Any other suggestions? Please!!!
    thanks

    Any help would be appreciated

there are a lot of complaints here about wifi issues with the ipad mini - all seam to deal with 3rd party routers. you might want to check these Threads out.
did you delete the wifi network on your ipad and reconnect? Are you using WPA2? Did you select TKIP/AES or only one of them? Does your ipad get an ip address?

  • I have 2 itunes libraries on my macbook, but can only access one. The itunes library file for the inaccessible library is subdued and won't open. Help?

When I select "Choose Library" the itunes library file is subdued.  I copied the library file off of Time Machine and put it back in itunes, but it remains subdued.  I'm running OS X 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.4.1. Help?

I too had this problem and have solved it. After upgrading to iTunes 10.4.1 (Running OS X 10.6.8) I could no longer select library files. Previously, I would launch iTunes with the option key down to trigger the "Choose Library" dialog box. I have three libraries, each of them stored in separate iTunes folder within my user:music folder. I would then double-click on a given folder to open it and then double-click on the library file. After the 10.4.1 upgrade the library files were grayed out (not selectable). The problem was resolved by changing what and how I selected. When the three iTunes folders were displayed I clicked once on a folder to select it (instead of double-clicking to open it) and then clicked the "open" button in the dialog box. This resulted was iTunes launched with the library file contained in that folder.
