Can Only Hold Synch For 20 Minutes Or So

Question

This is probably going to be my last question regarding AppleTV as I am ready to throw in the towel. But, I thought I would run this one by the experts one last time. I have the latest iTunes, the latest Snow Leopard, and a brand new Netgear router (I gave up on TC a product that never worked for me).
So, my question is a simple one. Why is it that AppleTV will only remained synched with iTunes for about 20-30 minutes. It's only a matter of time before the screen tells me I have no TV shows or Movies available. I can still use YouTube and watch movie trailers but I am no longer synched with my iTunes library.
I have no firewall, have gone through the reset, reloaded iTunes done all the usual stuff but still cannot even watch a 30 minute TV show through to the end. Any help would be greatly appreciated but I really don't want to hear about how your AppleTV performs perfectly. Mine has never worked well since new and is on borrowed time now.

Ok, I went into my router's management page. The first thing of interest I found was that it featured port triggering which was sent to close an unused port after 20 minutes. Thinking that was the problem I extended the time the port would remain open to the maximum 9999 minutes. That still did not stop AppleTV from losing sync.
My router had a feature that allow me to list individual services to individual ports. I have a feeling this may be my panacea but I am unclear as to how I go about setting up a port to allow AppleTV to stream.
On the Netgear router management page there is a button for adding a sevice under the Port Forwarding/Port Triggering page. I am to select a service type, ie Port Forwarding or Port Triggering.
If I select Port Forwarding I am then instructed to select a service from the pull down menu. Needless to say, AppleTV is not there. In conjunction with selecting a service I am asked for a Server IP Address. I have a feeling this is not an area that is going to be of help but if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.
Now, if I select Port Triggering for the service type instead of Port Forwarding. Again I am asked for a Serive Name but I can enter AppleTV. The sidebar of instructions then recommends that for Service User I select Any. Here comes the part I don't understand. I am asked for the Service Type. Either TCP or UDP. Then I am asked for a Triggering Port number followed by (1~65535).
Do I enter TCP 3689 here or UDP 5353?
The next step asks for the Required Inbound Connection. The Connection Type is either TCP/UDP, TCP or UDP. I am then asked for the starting point and ending point which would be numbers followed by (1~65535).
Again, do I enter TCP 3689 or UDP 5353 and where?
