Can only send mail if I reset Reset Network Settings

When I try to send mail from my wifi account, i get an error message unless I reset network settings, which in turn prompts me for my wifi password, then mail in my outbox will send. How do i overcome this?

No, that has nothing to do with syncing. You need to copy the iTunes folder from the old computer to the new one. If you really don't have access then you will need to sync to the new one, which will erase everything on your iPhone, then start loading everything back on. You can download apps, iTunes music, Books, etc. at no charge.

  • Mail can't send mail on home network

I am trying to help a friend who wants to move from Entourage to Mail. He has a MacBook Pro with 10.6.4 installed and his company uses Exchange 2003. He is moving to Mail due to serious calendar and contact syncing issues through Entourage and his iPhone/iCal/Address Book.
I have setup his Mail account to use IMAP with the Exchange Server. He can receive mail this way, but he cannot send it. Actually he can only send mail when he is at work on his company's network. I have turned off SSL and authentication is through Username and Password.
Funny thing is that Entourage can send and receive mail anywhere he has a connection, but Mail cannot. His company's IT department says that the settings I have in place should work.
How can I further troubleshoot this problem? Is it a server problem? I know 10.6's Mail doesn't support Exchange 2003, but I am not looking for full integration of exchange services.

You may be SOL as you need an SMTP server to send mail and the IT folks may not have it set up. You need a proper SMTP relay to send the mail, period. It doesn't matter what it's called, though convention usually has it set to smtp.example.com. mail.example.com would more often be the address for IMAP or POP connections.
Regarding the inability to send mail from an external network, this is the same problem: You still need an SMTP server to send emails. It's just that the SMTP server on the external network is likely different than the corporate SMTP server. What external network is it, and what is the SMTP server they have set up for machines within their network? Note that many networks don't enable outbound SMTP for random clients due to SPAM reasons.

  • Can't send mail to outside company

I wrote a javamail program, I can only send mail to internal email address, but not to outside, any reason that could be?
    Thanks for your help.
    Dan.

I'm replying specifically for GroupWise but MS Outlook/Exchange will in essence be the same.
When you send an email from your PC using GroupWise, the GWIA (ie the SMTP server) is what actually sends the email. This is on a server somewhere but NOT on your PC.
When using Javamail, you are really operating another smtp client. The GroupWise GWIA is likely configured not to accept relaying. If it is, for example if you use a mail filtering system so relay all mail, it is likely configured to accept relaying from only that IP address. Your PC (or wherever you are running the Javamail from) is unlikely to be an 'allowed' relay source.
In GroupWise you can add as many relay sources as you like under the GWIA object. Again, Is imaging Exchange is similar.
    Nick.

Have you checked with your carrier to make sure that your account is properly set up? Do you have MMS turned on in settings? Settings>Messages>MMS Messaging>On. Do you have an active data connection?

  • After updating to OS5, my iphone 4 can not send mail using wi fi and 3G.. only 1 or the other. It will not switch servers from using ATT 3G server to then using WiFi

I have called my internet provider, my email server company and AT&T. All my settings are fine and everything was fine before the OS5 upgrade. I can send email using WiFi when I have my email host as the outgoing server and can send email 3G using ATT server only when on 3G. The phone is not switching back and forth servers from wi fi connection to 3G.

    Hey there Jachin W.,
It sounds like you are unable to connect to your home Wi-Fi suddenly on 2 different iOS devices. I would be interested to know if the affected phones are able to connect to a different Wi-Fi connection, but barring that I would use the following article to help troubleshoot the devices and the Wi-Fi connection:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
And this section from toward the bottom if needed:
Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network
Verify that you're attempting to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Make sure you're entering your Wi-Fi password correctly. Passwords may be case sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

Google them to confirm the settings that you need for the outgoing server, then check the setting you entered on the pad.  Pay real close attention to the outgoing server name, and port.  You may need to change in on the pad.

Orange has a Problem, not you.
    Mail >Window > Connection Doctor ...
... it will probably show that your email sender and email receiver are both unreachable. If it ever worked before, this is probably not YOUR problem.
Try their WebMail (Use a Web Browser to surf to their Web address and try to pick up your mail from there.)

  • Can only send e-mail from home wi-fi

I have three e-mail addresses that I use on the iPhone however for one of them I can only send e-mail when I am at home using my wi-fi. If I am anywhere else using wi-fi or 3G I get a sender address was invalid message.
    Any suggestions?

Many ISPs only allow access to their smtp servers (the server that sends mail, which is different that the one for receiving mail) over their own network. Others require different settings when connecting from outside (which you're doing when you're on 3G/EDGE). Another option is to use AT&T's outgoing mail server to send. You can enable that in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > tap account > Outgoing Mail Server/SMTP > set AT&T SMTP server to ON. That way, the AT&T server will be used away from home (as long as you're connected to 3G/EDGE/GPRS - if you're connected to another Wi-Fi network it won't work) and your ISPs server will be used at home.

  • I can only send e-mails from home wi-fi, how do I resolve?

I can only send e-mails from my home wi-fi, when using other wi-fi's the message "The sender address was rejected by the server"
What is the problem and how do I resolve?
    Andy

How many other networks have your tried? It appears that the network(s) other than the yours is blocking the ports used for sending mail.
    Many businesses block sending mail.

  • Can only send small mails

Here is my problem - I can only send very short mails with a few words (size 0.0 or 0.1 Kb). If the mail is at a normal size, the mail starts to send, the mail activity ticks down to 0Kb, but then the little circle just keeps spinning around, and the email is not being delivered.
I am using the mail program in mac, and have tried with entourage. Both have the same problem.
After a minute it pops up with a message "cannot send via the server". I click on "help to cennection", and then it shows that status is ok and there is connection to my server.
I can use the same mailserver on my win-pc without any problem. I have checked the ports numbers for my mail servers on my mac-mail-program.
Has anyone expierenced this problem? Has someone a solution?

Hi Timmy and Ernie and everybody else
I have tried the things you have mentioned, check/uncheck ssl, check the ports, cable to router and back to wireless (yes i am using wireless).
I set up the accounts from scratch. Maybe i have a certificate problem. It shows to two certificates - "UTN-USERFirst-Hardware" this one is OK, but underneath i can see "*.arrownet.dk" and this one is not valid. Arrownet is my internet-provider, and my outgoing smtp-server is named "smtp.arrownet.dk". It checks the servers after i have typed the info for POP-server, but i figure i might have a problem here.
I have talked to arrownet, they know not of the problem. And again, it works perfect on my win-pc. Think i am about to try an older version of mac os-x, could that maybe solve my problem?

  • HT1430 Can't send mail   ( can only receive mail)

How can I receive Mai ?

Your are asking two different and opposite the questions.
If you can't send mail .... Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

  • Can't send mail since 10.4.6 update

Since updating my OS to 10.4.6 I can't send mail. I can receive mail and I can browse online. But mail will not go out. I've verified all the Outgoing Mail Server info SEVERAL times and have had no luck. I've enabled Entourage to handle mail instead of MacMail and it won't work either. Totally stumped.
Same thing has happened on my iBook G4 laptop by the way. I'm convinced that the update has something to do with this.

    INTERNET CONNECTION LOST
so... since the 10.4.6 update once my computers fall asleep the connection to my wireless router is lost. (mail seems to be working ok, when i have an internet connection...)
I have tried multiple things to fix this. Thus far the only solution seems to be resetting the router to use connect back to the internet. Once this is done the internet connection works fine, until lost or the computers go to sleep. When i wake the computer i have to do it all over again... and on top of it the post link is missing on all the pages!!! so i am replying here.
So this time I have rebooted to my external drive with the previous version (10.4.5) to see if indeed it is the 10.4.6 update that seems to have hosed this connection somehow.
HELP please, this is terrible annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this?
    thank you.

  • After update os mavericks can't send mail

I thought I had successfully installed Mavericks on my MacBook Pro but now I can only receive mail not send it. And this is not a gmail account. I appreciate any help on this one!!

Mail stopped working after a restart with Ethernet disconnected. No changes to the previously-working multiple account setups. I even added a new account and the new one didn't work either. I booted into a second admin account and entered known-working info. The (bogus) error was that the required ports were not open. I even tried changing the ports to generic ones. Nothing worked.
Repairing permissions and resetting the PRAM also did nothing.
I finally cleared the problem by booting into SAFE mode (cold start with SHIFT held down). After a normal re-boot Mail again worked as it should.
