Can only sync up to about 8 gig (on a 30 gig)

I've been having this very frustrating problem for a few months now. I have a 5g 30gb iPod, and it works great in all respects but this. If I try to put more than about 8gb on it, manually or sync, it freezes, throws up an error in iTunes (Required File Cannot Be Found), and stops. After a few rounds of this, it then needs to be restored and works fine again until it hits the 8gb mark. Now, during day to day play, it works great. No skipping, freezing, sluggishness- nothing. I can avoid this problem by keeping myself under the 8gb mark, but then its like I have a really bulky nano. Frustrating.

I wonder if the bit rate is too high?
I just read the iPad tech specs, and they say "up to 2.5 Mbps".
Your video appears to be about 9.5 Mbps.
I've heard that Canon 5D Mark II videos don't play as well, and it could be for the same reason.
It seems we may be stuck with compressing the videos in order to play them. Sigh.
Apple has video technology in Quicktime Pro / Final Cut / etc. Why can't they just put some of it in iTunes. They should make it easy for any video that the desktop will play to be played on the iPod / iPad / iPhone.
I bought an AppleTV to play my home videos on my TV. I knew that its output format was only 720p, but I was shocked that there is no automated way of playing my 1080p home videos without manually compressing them.

It appears that something happened to yur computer/iTunes files. It happens sometimes. To recovery:
- Import the old music into the current iTunes library
- Make sure all the apps are also in the library
- If in the USA and therplaces where iCloud has benn released you can redownload most iTunes puchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
- You can always redownload apps at no additional cost as long as you are singned into the same iTunes account the originally purchased them.
- After all the suff in in the iTunes library, make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPOd under Devices in iTunes.
- Restore the iPod from backup and restore as necessary.

The songs on your Shuffle should still be in your iTunes library. That means you should just be able to connect your Nano to the same iTunes library and sync it just as you would with your Shuffle. There is no limit to the number of iPods, iPads, or iPhones you can sync to one computer, iTunes library, or account.
As for preparing the Shuffle for your husband, just restore it via iTunes and then let him sync it to his own iTunes library or if its the same iTunes library, let him configure it to sync only his content.

1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

Use the backup of the media and other important files from the old computer to put them on the new computer.
iTunes only syncs with one computer/library at a time.
If you have failed to maintain a backup or no longer have the old computer, you may be out of luck.
iTunes purchases can be transfered from the iDevice. Connect the device, do NOT sync. Select File > Transfer Purchases.
This will only transfer iTunes purchases. All other media will not transfer and will be wiped from the device when it is synced with a new computer/library.

- Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discusssed here:

- Connect the Ipd to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not contain synced media like apps and music.

I authorized 2 laptops to my iPhone 5 but one can only sync music while the other can only sync apps!

I have an iPhone 5 and I have authorized 2 laptops to sync with it.
The problem is I can only sync apps I have downloaded from one laptop while music from the other laptop. I can't sync music and apps to my iPhone from the same laptop.
How do I solve this?
Note: The first laptop I synced with is also shared with my wife's iPhone 4.

you can only really sync your phone with one device, well strictly not true but its the better practice.
first point, be careful here.
second, plug your iPhone into the first machine and check the settings related to synchronising with 'that' machine.
then do the same with the second.
you will find that one is setup to sync apps and the other to sync music. I'd recommend that you go to the one that has your music stored on it, get it to download all of your apps and use this machine as your main machine from now on.
Using two seperate machines must be confusing and could lead to you suddenly loosing all of you data if you sync completely with one machine that does contain everything you want!

Well I'm not even really syncing my iPhone, I set it to manual so I could pull songs off of my cousins computer because I don't put many songs on mine. But I went over his house and said I had sync it thus I had to delete all the songs off my iPhone so I could get his... I didn't do it but I have to ask, is this suppose to happen? Or is there a way around it like I could do with my iPod?

You need to transfer your iTunes Library from the old computer to the new one - then you can carry on syncing as normal. You can't move non-purchased music from an iPod to iTunes using iTunes. For purchased music, choose iTunes > File > Transfer purchases...
