Can open multiple copies of single document at same time; is there a way to stop this?

We are running, Mac Pros with OS10.6.8 and CS5.5 . In the past with CS5 if you tried to open an InDesign document that was already open, it would take you to the open document. Since we upgraded to 5.5, if someone tries to open a document already open, it opens a second window of the same document (happens when preference is set to open in tabs also). This is causing problems with saving changes in one version and not the other. Sometimes when the second copy of the document is closed (changes were not made in this copy) it gets copied over the one with the changes. Is there a setting somewhere to stop this?

That makes sense. Until the file is actually saved it doesn’t truly exist as a 5.5 file.
You’ll see the word in the title bar.
Save the file in 5.5 and you shouldn’t have any problems.

You can have multiple nodes open on a tree, so I guess you could open them all up on a button click.
Another option that might be possible is to use individual Accordians for each section and then use the click function to close the others.

New Camera RAW in Photoshop CC 2014 won't open multiple Panasonic RAW (.rw2) at the same time from Windows Explorer. If I select 2 raw files and click "Open" Camera RAW will only open 1 raw, then when I click "Done" it will close and open the second, sequentially. Previous Photoshop CC and RAW worked fine, it would open mulitple RAW at the same time. How do I fix this?

If it worked for you that way previously there isn't much to comment about. I just tried opening multiple images from Windows Explorer with Photoshop CS6 and Camera Raw 8.6, and the first image would open and when I clicked cancel then the second image would open. But if I wanted multiple images opened in Camera Raw to work on them simultaneously it was necessary for me to open them from Bridge. I just did it as an experiment because I normally use Lightroom. Anyway, IF it was a feature at one time to work as you described, it doesn't seem to be that way now.

I have found that complicated document structures causes Word to split the document into parts, but I've always gotten the whole thing, in multiple documents.
However, with two pages, I can't imagine it is that complicated.

There is no way to clear the update notifications - unless you delete the apps completely from the iPad and from iTunes on your computer.
Obviously you want to continue to use the apps, so you either have to update the iPad and get the newer versions - or just ignore the update notifications. They will not go away.

Every time when Firefox is minimized and I tab into it I can't use it. It's completely locked. Is there a way to fix this?

Every time when Firefox is minimized to the tray and I open it up again i can't use it until I click on a tab that's not focused or on the search field with the mouse. It's completely locked, I can't press ctrl+1/2/3 etc to change tab or ctrl+e to go to search. Last time everything worked like it should was on release 3.5.14

Edit: I've tried reinstalling Firefox and gotten a new profile, that didn't help.
Edit2: Updated to 3.6.9 and I still have the problem.
Edit3: Just installed 3.6.11, the problem is still there.
I can't understand how 3.5.14 can work and not a singel release after that.

Every time I turn my MBP on, a terminal window opens. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

Open Accounts preferences, click on the Login Items tab. If you see the Terminal listed then select it and click on the Delete [-] button.

Is there a way to open multiple copies of a document?

I would like to be able to open two copies of a Pages document. Ideally I could edit either, but that's less important; one could be read-only. I'm not seeing a way to do this other than opening a copy in Preview. Unfortunately that's not a good solution because the Preview version does not get updated when I make changes in the Pages copy. Am I missing something?

Thanks for your replies. Sorry about the confusion around read-only. To me that doesn't imply "frozen in time"; it merely implies that you can only edit 1 copy. I was looking for something that kept the 2nd copy current rather than something that was frozen in time. There are programs that allow you to open and edit a doc in two windows and there are programs that allow you to open a 2nd copy of a doc in read-only mode so that only 1 edits but the 2nd is updated. Since it appears that Pages won't do either and also won't do cross-referencing (that is "See page 43, Self-responsibility", another of my needs for this project, I've been looking for an alternative. I think I have found it in Scrivener (too early to say since I haven't played with it yet). I hate to spend money duplicating (at least to some extent) a program I already bought, use, like, am familiar with, etc., but I may just have to.

I used to be able to mount multiple sparse image files and see them all in FCPx. But recently, FCPx upon opening, will close out all but one sparse image. The images are still mounted to the OSx but FCPx will not recognize them. I can only open one sparse image at a time. I am needing to export multiple projects at the end of the day, and can't batch export or send them all to compressor because I can open up multiple projects.

I have 20+ tabs always open on Firefox and it's set to remember them. However, when I open Firefox the first tab changes from what I had open there into my homepage, Google. I can use the "go backward" thing to get to the page I had there, but since it goes back to Google every time I restart the browser that gets tedious.
The only way to solve this that I've found is to just stop trying to use the first tab and let it be Google. However, I'd like some actual solution that stops this from happening if possible.

Thanks for the reply, it seems to have solved my issue.
My tabs are normal and unpinned, I just have Firefox set to open all my current tabs. Safe Mode didn't seem to have this issue, so I disabled Classic Theme Restorer. Several restarts didn't have problems, so I enabled it again and now this isn't happening anymore. Hopefully it stays gone for good and didn't just stop momentarily.
Edit. So as soon as I posted this, it started happening again. More testing definitely points to Classic Theme Restorer as the cause, so I'll have to investigate solutions on that end.
