Can opening shot be a long, delayed, fade of a still photo from blur to clear?

I'd like to have the first clip of an iMovie be a long, delayed fade of a still photo from blur to clear. Using the blur transition is not working; it can't be made long enough. Any ideas?
I'd like it so that the fade from blur lasts around 18 seconds, and the photo is clear for about 4 seconds...
I should also say I'm using the latest version of iMovie... just bought the computer a few months ago.
Many thanks for any suggestions!

Further to Karsten's explanation, a workaround is to create a project using your photo with a duration of 36 seconds (or more). Insert the 18 second transition. Then export the project and re-import the exported file to an Event. Now create a new project from that Event. In that new project, trim off the unrequired section from the end of the clip, so that all that remains is the transition plus the extra 4 seconds.
For best results, when exporting the 36 second clip (or whatever length), choose Share>Export using QuickTime. For the Export setting (on the pop-up menu) choose Movie to QuickTime Movie. For "Options>Video>Settings>Compression Type" choose Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC). Leave other settings as they are. This will give you a full quality movie file (.mov) in the AIC format, which is iMovie's preferred editing format.

How can I make a still photo from imovie?

Let's assume you have iMovie 11 (Version 9). (If you have a different version, let me know. The instructions will be different.)
First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then drag this photo into iPhoto.
I have created a short video Tutorial on how to do this. There is one error in the Tutorial, where it says that Command-click is the same as right-click. I should have said Control-click instead.

  • When I connect my Iphone 4 to my computer I no longer get the option to move photos from iphone to computer. also i do not think my driver is operating. what to do?

When I connect my iphone four to my computer I no longer get the option to load photos from phone to computer.  I think i have a driver problem as well. What should I do?

The AutoPlay function on the computer is controlled in Control Panel. Also, there needs to be current photos that have not been imported to the phone for it to start, and also the phone needs to be unlocked if you have a passcode on it. If you have not been prompted to "Trust" the computer on the iPhone and answered that, it will also make a difference.
Do you have the latest version of iTunes on the computer? What makes you think that you have a driver problem? You can take a look at Step 5 in this support document to see if that helps your driver problem. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

  • Can you make a still photo from clip

How do I take a frame from imovie and make a still photo from it.
    Thanks

AppleMan1958's Tip, as referred to by Matt, works fine for iMovie '09, but if you have iMovie '11 you will need to use a different procedure.
Unlike all earlier versions of iMovie, the latest version (IMovie '11 - 9.0.2) does not provide for the creation of stills from video for use outside the program. Certainly, you can create freeze frames in the project and add stills from the Events - but these are only available within the project.
The best solution is to use MPEG Streamclip - available from the developer (Squared 5) here:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
In the Project or Event, right-click (or control-click) on the clip from which you wish to extract the still. From the pop-up menu select Reveal in Finder. Drag the clip to MPEG Streamclip. Move the playhead to the desired frame. Now, from the menu, select File>Export Frame. The following window will appear:
Choose your preferred Format (JPEG, TIFF or PNG) and other options if desired, then Save. The saved file can now be used in iPhoto or any image editing application, or printed as required.

  • How can I create a still photo from my video

How can I create a still photo using my video.

I'll assume you want to create a still to use outside FCPX, not a still frame within FCPX.  It's kinda hidden in the "share."  Go File/Share/Add Destination.  You want "Save Current Frame."  After you've created that destination, it'll be there for you in the future under Share.

i right click on my frame i want and click on "add freeze frame" than i right click on new frame but "reveal in finder" does not appear so i can click on it can anyone help me.I'm new to apple got sick and tired of windows,i thought apple had better programs to work with pics. and movies but how hard can it be to simply put a take snapshot button in a program so a person can save a frame for a pic in one easy step as i'm sure it is done alot.Just a thought for the next program.

  • Can I create a movie trailer using still photos from iPhoto library

    Hey,
I am wondering whether I can create a movie trailer (like Epic Drama for example) using still images / photos from my iphoto library instead of using movie clips.
I have found out how to import photos in a normal project but I cannot do the same for a movie trailer project.
    THX
    Dimitris

    You can do this.
The trick is to convert your trailer to a project.
First, I would suggest going to the Project Library view and selecting your trailer. Then FILE/DUPLICATE and give the duplicate a name, like (Original Name - Backup).
Then, with the trailer selected in the Project Library, click FILE/CONVERT TO PROJECT.
Your trailer is now a project and you can add stills and use all the capabilities of iMovie.

  • Can redownload scrabble app after long delay

Help.  This has been going on all night

When you find a post that is similar to your own question isn't it frustrating to find it un-answered?
So.. I guess I'll answer this, myself, by posting what I found out on my own.
So... it turns out that hooking up the iPods to the new Leopard Mac Mini was fine as both the 4th Gen and the 5th Gen (Video) iPods remained "manually managed" as they had been when I had been updating them using the Tiger Mac Mini. Probably because I had used Set Up Assistant and had migrated everything over from the old mac when I first started the new mac.
I had, when I first hooked up the 4th Gen iPod, held down the option and command keys on the keyboard and waited until the iPod had fully mounted before letting them go, but I didn't really need to do this. I didn't hold down the option and command keys when mounting the 5th Gen Video and it mounted up manually managed anyway.
I did things differently with the two iPods. For the 4th Gen one, I just updated the podcasts and left it at that. So it still has the old playlists and everything.
With the 5th Gen Video, I decided to change the setting to "automatically sync." This caused it to replace everything with the new playlists and content, etc, as it was now set up in the new computer. After doing all of this, I re-synced the 5th Gen iPod and changed it back to "manually managed," so I would have more control over things in the future. Now it's syncing and updating just the podcasts, automatically, and leaving everything else alone just as I like. Great!
    So.. so far so good.
    Thanks so much! -Charlotte

  • Long delay when replying with a fault from a mediator

    Using version 11.1.1.3.0 --
I have a very simple Mediator, which executes in about 50ms as expected in non-fault cases, but when returning a fault, it consistently takes approx 6 seconds.
The Flow Trace shows the Mediator completing 6 seconds after the BPEL component completes, but the Mediator completes in 53ms in the Audit Trail. So where are the extra 6 seconds going?

    Hi,
Please take your time to collect some information for troubleshooting:
Does this issue occurred on all outlook clients?
Please try to disable any anti-virus software to check this issue.
Are there any 3rd part mail scanning software?

  • Can I make a movie with just photos from iPhoto?

Can I make a movie in iMovie 11 using only still photos from iPhoto and no moving video?

Yes, you can. I just worked on a short movie project yesterday in which I added still photos to a short movie clip (caveat: I'm learning a new camera and iMovie 11 at the same time, so this answer comes by way of trial and error, not solid knowledge). After a few frustrated tries, I learned to use to Photo Browser to access my iPhoto library; then I learned you can only add photos to a project in the Project Library.
Since both methods you tried (Photo Browser and Window>Photos) were greyed out, and since both methods access your iPhoto library, my limited knowledge suggests that iMovie 11 can't find it. Apparently, the iPhoto library is the ONLY place that iMovie 11 looks for photos.
However, I just now tried dragging a photo from my desktop into a project in the Project Library, and it was successfully added. Give it a try.

  • How can I import photos from photo stream to windows photo gallery? These photos are not on the camera roll on my iPad but are from another iPad on the same iCloud account.

I work at a Learning Center that has 12 iPads on the same iTunes and iCloud account.  Each classroom uses an iPad assigned to their room to take photos.  Each of these photos then shows up in the Photo Stream in all 11 of the other iPads.  I have no trouble importing photos that are in the Camera Roll of any individual iPad, but I have not been able to import photos from the Photo Stream if the picture was not taken on the specific iPad I am using.  It is not feasible for me to collect all 12 iPads everyday to import everyones photos, so how can I use one "master" iPad that will let me import photos from the Photo Stream since it has all the photos that everyone has taken?

You downloaded an iCloud backup to your PC?  I assume you mean you downloaded your photo stream to your PC.  What you may not know is that photo stream only keeps your photos for 30 days.  After that, they are deleted from photo stream but not from any device that already has them (such as your phone).  When you enabled photo stream on your PC you only had access to photos from the last 30 days since the others are no longer there, even though they remain on your phone.
To transfer these to your computer at this point you have two options:
Save them to the camera roll on your phone (by opening the my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.  (You can only import photos to your computer from the Camera Roll album.)  Then import them to your computer as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083; or
Use an app like PhotoSync, which can wirelessly transfer photos from any album between your devices/computers, including the my photo stream album.
In the future, always import your photos from your camera roll to your computer via USB before deleting them.  Don't rely on photo stream or your iCloud backup to save your photos.

  • How can I see photos from my photo stream on my pc with the iCloud application installed on my pc.

I want to download the photos from my iCloud onto my PC.  I installed the iCloud for PC and can open it, but cannot figure out how to see the photos.  Photo Streaming in turned on for the iCloud.

Check Pictures>Photo Stream>My Photo Stream.  Note: when you turn it on you will only see photos from the last 30 days as photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days.  If you want to stream older photos to your PC, create a shared photo stream containg the photos and invite yourself as a subscriber (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99).

  • Hi, I can't download my photos from my camera onto iPhoto!

Hi, I can't download my photos from my camera into iPhoto!  A few months ago I bought iPhoto 9.1.1 (on it's own from iTunes) and it's been working fine till now.  When I plug in the camera (Lumix LX3) the flying pizza starts and eventually I have to turn off the camera and force quit iPhoto.  I don't think it can be a camera problem as I have successfully dowloaded same photos from same camera onto my laptop (with older version of iPhoto) and it works perfectly. Please help me - what am I doing wrong?  Also, is there a limit to the amount of photos i can keep in iPhoto?  I have quite a lot, and wonder if it simply is full up and cannot take any more?  Thanks! Mands

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.
