when I upgrade netware 4.11 to netware , it cause my oracle 7 server only to view records but cannot modify or append a new record , and when I attend to modify a record it cause netware 5 server a cpu error , and netware 5 cpu utilization go up to 40 - 50 % , can some tell me what's going on

Yes, he is running windows on a virtual machine on the Mac. We've tried installing several times and always end up with the same result; the launch page shows interface for the web and admin but does not give him excel. I've asked him to uninstall BPC and then run the installation again.
Is there anything else we should be checking?

Yes. But first you have to install Windows.
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows 7. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.

GUI and ABM for multiple runs

I am trying to launch a GUI to my agent-based model (Repast with Eclipse) so that being able to run the model for many times. I am going to produce input parameters based on different distributions for different runs from GUI. Usually we should use batch file for different runs. However, I want to use GUI for this reason because I have GUI that can take care for one run but not for many runs. Could you help me with your idea in this respect?

Oracle 8i for Novell Netware

I am trying to find a trial version of Oracle 8i (8.1.5.0.4) Enterprise Edition for Netware to test with Novell Zenworks for Servers 3.0. We currently use the Unix/Solaris versions of Oracle, but want to test on our NetWare servers. Can someone direct me to this UNC or to a comparable version for NetWare? Thanks so much!

Problem installing 8.1.6 Oracle for Netware

I'm new to Oracle. I tried to install several times Oracle for Netware 8.1.6 and the Java installer says that the installation is OK.
But the file to load Oracle, ORALOAD.NCF is empty !!!
What can I do ??

Canned Report for Netware client verion?

Is there a canned/ pre-configured report for Netware client version? I'd
like to run a quick enterprise report showing which version of Netware

It's sort of crude, but this works:
Reports->Software Applications->By Manufacturer->Novell
If you scroll down, you'll find entries for all of the Novell Client
versions.

Can't Login to Netware 4 server using Client 3.4

Hi,
I have a small network with a dedicated server and two workstations
connected using a linksys switch. The dedicated server is running
netware 4.x (an old character based netware system). Both workstations
have Windows 98 and log in to the server using Novell Intranetware 4.11
software for Windows 95, which is several years old. Recently, I added a
workstation and downloaded client 3.4 to use to access the server rather
than install the Intranetware. It turns out that I can't get this
workstation to log into the server using client 3.4. I get the login
screen, but it reports it can't find a server or tree, even though I
entered them correctly. Does anybody know why it won't access the server
while the other workstations can?

It is a method for packaging data for transmital over IPX.

These option are for the Microsoft client for NetWare, which is not
aware of NDS. Install the Novell Client for NetWare. Choose Custom
install, IPX only.

BE 9.1 for Netware catalog question

Hi all,
Anyone know of a way to view/print catalogs outside of BE? What I'm after is creating a file with the entire directory structure from a catalog. There is the catdump utility, but it looks like it is for the Windows version only. Or can I run that against a BE for Netware catalog?

OK, found in the documentation that catdump can read any versionk's catalogs. I just have to find an eval copy of BE for NT 8.5 or 8.6.

Oracle 9i is desupported.
To the best of my knowledge Oracle 10g is also not supported on Windows 2008.
Go ahead and try installing if it works its great. Of course I will not recommend it for official use.

Each time when you start your computer, you need to restart Oracle as well, its only with Windows XP. The process you have to follow each time is:
Start -->Run and then type CMD to open command prompt.
In command prompt type
svrmgrl and then press
connect internal/oracle and then press
startup force and then press

I think others have answered most of your questions, but you indicated that "iTunes 10 is for Intel Macs only" -- that is not actually correct, you can certainly run iTunes 10 on your G5 PowerPC. What you need to do is:
(1) upgrade to 10.5 operating system
(2) upgrade to iTunes 10
While Apple doesn't officially sell 10.5 anymore (Apple sells 10.6, but 10.6 won't install on your G5 PowerPC), if you call their 800 number and explain that you need it to use your new iPhone, they may be able to sell you a copy from old inventory. Alternatively, some retailers are still selling older inventory 10.5 install DVDs but you need the version that installs on any computer, many 10.5 disks are made for a specific model only.
Before you do either (1) or (2) above, make sure you have enough memory as indicated by Apple in their system requirements. If you need more memory, it is inexpensive to upgrade.

Can't install Personal Oracle 8i for NT

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
- Server name NONE
- Filename NT817 Personal.zip
- Date/Time 2/7/2002
- Browser + Version IE 5.5
- O/S + Version NT 4.0
- Error Msg NONE
I downloaded and unzipped the above named file. When I try to run setup.exe, the cursor blinks to an hour glass for a milisecond and then nothing. Some advice I've had from others has been to:
1. Check for a folder called c:\ProgramFiles\oracle\inventory\locks and make sure there
is nothing in there. Folder does not exist.
2. Make sure I have sufficient free space on drive c: to allow for the log files. I have approx 500mb free space.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.

I can't start Oracle Services for MTS

Hello there, Oracle users!
I am new here, as new to the Oracle technology. We are developping a
software which must be transaction compliant, and we're on microsoft
platform, and thatswy we're using sql2000 and microsoft transaction
server for our application server components.
But one of our clients wants to use oracle 8i db as the resource manager. We had to make the proper work mts with oracle. I've red all of the oracle documentation within this topic, and i successfully installed
the Oracle Services for MTS on our development machine at the workplace.
(created the mts_proxy_info table, granted the specific roles to a specific db user, the specific privileges, and so on), and
it is working nicely, the log says "accepting new enlistment requests",
everything is wonderful.
But at the client, i repeated all of the steps (the only difference is,
that they have the server on a HP-UX machine instead of winnt and i had not access to the oracle server, i just gived the sql script to the oracle dba guy there (maybe he missed something?)), and when i wanted to start the oracle services for MTS on the Application server, the log says this: "incorrect password, or username". I really don't
undestand it, because i can connect through the OLEDB driver with the
specified username, password and Service name. (in a datalink (udl), for example)
If anybody had an idea i would be very happy

In pre-8.1.7.4.0 beta implementations, your application server e.g. IIS or MTX.EXE hosts MTS transactional components. When such components acquire OLEDB or ODBC connections to Oracle and external service setup for that database i.e. OracleMTSService<id> joins the MTS transaction on behalf of the Oracle database which quite often runs on a non-Windows platform e.g. Solaris. We restrict each database to have one and only such service. This brings in scalability and availability issues. In 8.1.7.4.0 we have embedded the transaction join and commit logic in the clientside dll. There is no OracleMTSService<id> for a given database. The only service needed is a recovery service one per Windows machine on which Oracle Svcs For MTS is installed. This service is automatically created on installation of the product and doesn't connect to the databases. Instead the involved databases connect to the service via HTTP to resolve any MTS-related transactions that are in-doubt.
