Can Oracle 8 run under AIX 64 bits OS ?

I would like to know whether Oracle 8 can run under AIX 64 bits
environment?
If the answer is yes, are there any improvement in performance as
compare to running it under AIX 32 bits environment?
Hope I can get some answers on this.
Thanks.

    Hi All,
Can Oracle 9i run in Wondows Server 2008 environment?
    Thanks,

    Oracle 9i is desupported.
To the best of my knowledge Oracle 10g is also not supported on Windows 2008.
Go ahead and try installing if it works its great. Of course I will not recommend it for official use.

There's nothing you can do about this other than live with it and hope that it doesn't damage the iPhone (likely that it will). If it does eventually fail, you'll need to take or send your iPhone to Apple and pay for a replacement.

  • When does LIBPATH need to be set for an Oracle RDBMS running on AIX?

I am trying to determine the impacts of not having LIBPATH set in an AIX 5.3 environment running Oracle 10.2.0.4 64 bit databases. It would appear these databases may have been ported from Linux and the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable was set in some of the scripts (i.e. Cold backup that shutsdown and starts the database).
My interpretation from research is LD_LIBRARY_PATH would be ignored by AIX, although some hits I have found show this envionment variable set and LIBPATH. If LIBPATH is not set for database scripts (i.e. shutdown/startup for backup, database maintenance, etc) is there any concern? LIPBPATH is not set in the .profile for the oracle account either.

  • Connect to MS-SQL Server from a Oracle 10g running under Solaris

    Hi,
I have the following problem. I want to access a MS-SQL server from an Oracle database (10g Enterprise licence) that is running on Solaris.
After googling a while, the following questions arise:
    - Is it correct that the Oracle Transparant Gateway for the SQL Server is not available on Solaris platforms (but only on Windows)?
    - Is it right, that the second possibility to solve this problem is to use an SQL-Server odbc driver for Solaris and access the SQL-Server over ODBC? And: Is this feature included in the Enterprise licence?
    - If yes, which driver is good and cheap ;-)?
    - Is there any other way to solve this problem?
    Thanks
    Aron

I believe the Transparenet Gateway for SQL Server is available on Solaris. The problem is that you need a Unix based ODBC driver which you will also need to pay for.
We had this same problem and decided to run a windows based Heterogeneous Services gateway and routed through it instead of using the SQL Server transparent gateway. The Heterogenous severives gateway is NOT an add on product (as is Transparent Gateway). The drawback would be performance as I would expect the native MS SQL transparent gateway to perform better, but in our case it worked acceptably.

  • Can Garageband 08 run under OS X Lion?

You can enable Airdrop even it is not listet. My MacBook Late 2007 supports it.

Enables the little AirDrop Icon in the Finder sidebar. In my case it works perfect.

  • VCast media manager doesn't run under W7 64-bit

How do I download music to my new Droid 2. When I tried to install Vcast Media Manager, it aborted because it does not support 64-bit OS.
I'm not interested in having a 32-bit OS just to support one application.
    Thanks
    <Chas>

I have a 64-bit OS on my Laptop, as well, and experienced the same message.
I noticed that when I first plugged my phone into my PC the Windows Explorer came up and allowed me to browse my entire Droid 2 files. But, after allowing Motorola to continue to install the "needed" drivers/software, I was no longer able to browse my phone with Windows Explorer. So, I uninstalled the two Motorola files that install whenever I plug my phone into my PC, and viola! the Windows Explorer works again.
Therefore, the solution for moving files back and forth from your PC to your phone is to not use the VCast Media Manager and just use the Windows Explorer that defaults when you first plug your phone into your computer USB port.  When prompted to allow Motorola to modify your computer, say "no".  By doing this, your phone won't go to the Verizon Website and block your ability to use the Windows Explorer from there on out.
You'll need to say "no" everytime you plug your phone into your PC, but at least you'll have the file management needed.

  • Error "PPE is working" on File Upload with Oracle Portlet running 10.1.2

I am attempting to perform file upload using an Oracle Portlet running under the 10.1.2 Portal.
All the examples I have seen indicate you must identify the encoding type as "multipart/form-data" in your JSP. When I do this and attempt to submit the page I get a blank screen with the words "PPE is working.".
Looking at the "http-web-access.log" on my OC4J Standalone server I can see that the Standalone server never actually receives the request. For some reason it appears the Portal is not forwarding the request to OC4J like it is suppose to.
Can someone tell me what might be wrong? Does anyone have experience implementing file upload using Oracle Portlets and the 10.1.2 Portal?
    Thanks,

I have encountered the same problem 4 years before. Finally i figured out, Oracle Portal is not supporting "multipart/form-data".
Work around is write a servlet program to upload the file into DB.

  • RE: How to have multiple application running under one server

              I have one server
              I have many application
Question: Is it possible for me to have a weblogic properties file under each
              of this application.

If your question is whether you can run multiple instances of WebLogic
(or multiple applications) on one server, the answer is yes. The only
problem is, you must have a unique port for each of the servers to run
on. I.e., they can not all run under port 80 which has obvious
              internet/network implications.
This also means you have multiple weblogic.properties files etc. for
              each instance.
We do this with WL5.1 on a Linux 2.4 kernel in developement to allow
multiple developers run their own instance on one box.

  • How to Migrate the database from AIX 4.3 oracle 7  to another Aix 5.3

    Hi,
    This is the scenario.
Oracle 7 runs in AIX 4.3 now the client wants to upgrade to a new machine with
    oracle 10gr2 in AIX 5.3 .
    AIX 4.3 in production now.
AIX 5.3 and oracle 10gr2 installed now.
is there any other possibility other than export to migrate to new server.
    Regards
    Elamaran

Sorry to disappoint you :( It's the same thing as with my car - If it's not without fuel I turn the key and drive ;)
Confined to the development database instance, writing packages is the only thing I'm allowed to do (even forbidden to use some of the Oracle supplied ones).
There are other guys having to do the rest.

  • Can Oracle Forms compiled in 32-bit run in 64 bit without recompile ?

My customer has a development machine running on HP-UX 10.2 and a production machine running on HP-UX 11.0 installed with 9IAS form server. Can Oracle Developer 6i be installed on the HP-UX 10.2 32-bit machine and the oracle forms compiled in a 32-bit machine be run on a HP-UX 64-bit machine ?
    Can somebody help ?

Boy, this was a long time ago and not intended to reply to this particular question but for sharing my experience with 6i client/server development on linux 32bit and running (client/server deployment) on 64bit linux. I don't believe there is a 64bit 6i forms developer - it is 32 bit, so development must be on 32 bit and when you run on 64bit, then you will have library (missing) problems. My solution was to create a custom runtime which included all the related system libraries from the 32 bit for the client/server. This forms 6i custom runtime for client/server also included the patchset 18 and the 10g R2 instant client for sqlplus (to support xquery). All the forms development modules, make files, graphics, docs, etc was stripped out and then it became a lean client/server runtime for Linux (for both 32bit and 64bit). This custom runtime for client/server is technically not supported by Oracle and the 6i is close to its obsolescence (2008) - but it has been tested against 8,8.1.7.4, 9.2.0.8, 10g (R1 and R2) and XE and works like a champ. This does NOT work for 6i web deployment.

  • I can't get PB12.5 to 64-bit Oracle

    Hello,
our PB 12.5 application works perfectly on an XP box connecting to 32-bit local Oracle 10g and a 32-bit national Oracle 11g database.  With the Windows 7 rollout, we must now connect to a 64-bit local Oracle 11g database and the 32-bit national Oracle database simultaneously.  It appears that we cannot.  We have two version of Oracle installed - the 64-bit local and 32-bit client.  The oracle_home in the registry refers to the 64-bit local.  If I change this to refer to the 32-bit client, the listener immediately stops working.
The 64-bit sqlplus can access both the 64-bit oracle database and the 32-bit national database.  My .NET applications can also access both applications simultaneously.
However, If I try and create a database profile through PB12.5, I get an Ora-12557 protocol adapter error.  If I try and run the application, I get the OCI.DLL cannot be loaded message.
Does anyone have any idea how I can connect to BOTH 64-bit and 32-bit at the same time.
    Much appreciated.
    RS

    Hello Krzysztof,
I thank you for your comments, but all I know is what works and what doesn't.  Changing the path alone does not work for me.  I have to set the oracle home somehow.  If I set it in the registry, the listener stops working and, therefore, I cannot connect to the 64-bit database.  If I change the oracle_home temporarily, as with the bat file solution, I can connect to both databases.
In a nutshell, all of our workstations come with the 32-bit client.  I had to install the 64-bit full version of Oracle to access a 64-bit enterprise edition database on a new Windows 7 box.  Part of my app runs under vb.net and can access both versions of the database.  Part of the app also runs under PB12.5 and I know that I need to access the databases through the 32-bit client.  The problem is how.  Well, I know that simply putting the client in the path PRIOR to the full version of Oracle does not work.  I wish it did.  Therefore, I have to use the .bat file and set the path and oracle home temporarily.
If this doesn't make sense to you, then please enlighten me, perhaps with something concrete (I'm not trying to be facetious)
    Thank you,
    RS
