Can Oracle access websites?
Hi All,
I'll start off by saying I'm new to XML so not sure if this is posted in the right place or not. I'm mainly looking for someone to point me in the right direction so I know what documentation to look at.
We're running Oracle 10.2.0.4 on Solaris. We have some php that passes xml (getting this info second hand) to a website in order to change the password for a user's email addy. We're wondering if we can dump the php, if Oracle can access websites directly? Anybody know anything about this and can point me in the right direction? Judging by the "Oracle® XML DB Developer's Guide" this looks like it might be possible. Thanks!

Can not access websits that are not part of my favorites, very frustrated
I can not access any website that was not part of my favorites through firefox. When i type in the url nothing happens it just sits there. I have tried starting firefox in safemode and still same results. I can not add any type of search engine either. i dont know when all of this happened but firefox changed over maybe a week ago and hasnt been working right since.

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Can't access websites with ios 7.0.6
I just finally got around to downloading ios 7.0.6 on my iPad, and now I can't access certain websites in my iPad AND my Mac laptop. I've tried restoring the iPad, and that didn't fix it. Any suggestions?
Possibly a 'duh' question but what is the exact app name for the podcast app? I have the same problem and when I search for free podcast app I get multiple options. Does it matter what app I choose?...

Can't access website with weird name
I can't access a website on my computer, neither can my friends (none of whom had tried before I asked them to). However, people elsewhere in the world (and presumably elsewhere in the US) can. The address is http://agro.biodiver.se . Thoughts?

Yes... quite often DNS caches in the internet are not fully consistent, you could end up using 4 or 5 servers before reaching the originating server. By that, I mean the caches being updated as a flow-out from the originating DNS, all the way to the DNS you are using.

Can Oracle Access Manager (OAM) be used for configuring data-level access?

Can OAM 10gR3 or 11g be used for configuring data-level access in PS 9.10 and OBI 11g.
This would mean that data-level configuration are stored centrally within OAM database and PS 9.10 pulls these settings for its appropriate Row and ChartField security and OBI 11g queries OAM database tables to populate the initialization blocks during login.
If you have configured this successfuly, please feel free to provide highlevel details/steps about the configuration and any complexities that can pre present.
Thanks.I recently worked on an interesting implementation that utilized OAM configured against OID in which OAM was configured to control authentication/authorization and then all applications that were serviced by OAM utilized the users login to pass to the database at which point the Oracle database utilized VPD, which was configured against the same OID instance, to leverage user attributes/groups in order to configure fine-grained access control to data within the database. Not sure if this would work for you unless your requirements are similar but it worked very well for this particular implementation as it allowed them to have SSO for their own apps and for BI Publisher which then could pass allong the userid to be leveraged by the database to do fine grained access control.

My iPhone 4s doesn't seem to have any issues at all when I use the browser for any website's URL I put in, EXCEPT this one website I need to put on my phone for work. Every time I put in the URL (on Safari OR Google), the 'little timer' just goes 'round and 'round and it never, ever connects to the website. In a meeting when the app was introduced and the URL was given, everyone else had no problem putting it on their phone, but me. I cannot figure out why I can't get to this one website on my phone (and it's not a ***** website, either, nor any other kind of 'questionable' website like that).
Can someone help me figure this out? Thanking you in advance...I'm not sure this will help, but it couldn't hurt ...
It could be that the "accept cookies" needs a reset before taking effect. I recommend resetting your iPhone. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears. You won't lose any data. Maybe that will help the website issue. -
Updated to iOS 6 and can't access websites or word documents.
I updated to iOS 6 and now having issues accessing my eCollege website.
I am also having issues opening up word documents.
Anyone else having these issues?Wifi settings-network settings-proxy to auto. Issue fixed.

For instance, when I type "scholar.google.com" in the search bar, I get re-routed to "https://login.library.utoronto.ca/cgi-bin/go_log.pl?url=http://scholar.google.com/". This does not happen in Safari. I am using Firefox v. 3.6.12. I have deleted my history and cleared my cookies but the problem persists. I wonder whether this is related to SSL encryption? In any case, I would like to eliminate this browsing barrier.

And even if you decided you didn't care about that and wanted to do it anyway, my guess is that Google Translate uses a lot of Javascript and Ajax which you couldn't hope to replicate. However if your real goal is to have some code which does language translation, possibly delegating some or all of the work to a web service, then perhaps the Google Translator Toolkit might be of some use. Can't load websites hosted on GoDaddy
Updated to Mavericks. Now I can't access websites I built that are hosted via GoDaddy. I can surf the web like crazy, but not these particular sites (and I need to work on them). I also can't send mail from the email account I have set up through one of these sites.
I installed a new Airport Extreme, which is working quite well.
Has anyone had problems like this? If so, how did you resolve them?

Can't access non-VPN resources when connected to VPN
I need to access web based resources over a VPN for work. My admin gave me the connection parameters, and I can connect to the VPN and access what I need, no problem. But when connected to VPN, I can't access websites, Subversion repositories, Skype, etc. that are not on the VPN.
On Windows, there's a connection property on VPN connections called "Use default gateway". With that option cleared on my Windows machine, I can access both VPN and non-VPN resources simultaneously. I can't spot anything equivalent in the VPN connection in Network Preferences.
So I guess the question is: what network settings on Mac (Snow Leopard) will enable me to access both VPN and normal resources simultaneously?I have found a workaround. It isn't optimal, and it's disappointing that VPN is so poorly supported on Mac. Though the specific IPs are probably applicable only to the particular VPN I connect to, maybe the general idea can be of help to others and your network admins can supply the particular IPs you need.
1. My Admin had me open Network Preferences, select the VPN connection, click the Tools icon at the bottom, and select Set Service Order. In that dialog, move the VPN connection to the bottom of the list (my EVDO modem that gets me my internet connection is fist in the list). Apply this change.
2. Next, my admin asked me to run the following in Terminal, once when VPN was not connected (but internet was connected), and again with VPN connected, and send him the output:
*netstat -nr*
3. After looking at the terminal output, admin told me to run the following in Terminal with the VPN connected:
*sudo route add -net 10.123 -netmask 255.255.0.0 10.123.50.1*
After disconnecting both VPN and Internet connection and reactivating each in turn (internet, then VPN), I was able to access both VPN and non-VPN resources simultaneously.
The bad news is that every time I need to connect I have to run route add in Terminal and enter my password. I will probably make a shell script to at least run the command so I don't have to remember it.
Here's hoping this helps if others bump into this pernicious little problem. -

1- The code for checking the properties (your debugging) should be placed BEFORE trying to connect to the url if you want to see what's happening
2- The 'normal' way to set the proxy is to set the following properties

3- what's the behavior if you change 123.456.789.123 by the real name (hostname) of the server ?

However, I saw a reference to problems with the Library entries, so I checked mine and the iWork files were missing, something confirmed when I checked the crash log. In desperation, I did another software update, and that seems to have fixed the problem completely. Now wondering if I dare upgrade to Lion!

Unable to join Pdf using Preview in Mavericks
The method of merging PDF documents using Preview is not working in Mavericks. When one PDF document is dragged into the sidebar of another it looks like all is well and I can choose "Save As" and give the merged document a new name, but after I clos
