Can OSX Lion be downloaded on my MacBook?

Can OSX Lion be downloaded on my MacBook with 2Ghz Intel Core Duo running on OSX 10.6.8
Lion says Yes, but my MacBook says NO
When I try to download Lion on my MacBook, the AppStore says that a Intel Core Duo is needed.
My McBook has an Intel Core Duo. So, what can be the problem?
Why doesn't it work?

It requires at least a core 2 duo. not core duo

Click here, buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, install it, and run the Mac OS X 10.6.8 combo updater. You can then either buy Mountain Lion 10.8 from the Mac App Store or phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7.

Realize that people that aren't having problems tend not to "brag" that they're doing fine.  Those that are having problems are usually very vocal.  So a lot of the "bad reviews" may just be those that had a problem, not necessarily the real experience of the millions of people that are doing just fine.
...and I'm afraid to download it and my computer is 2009, yours runs smoothly?
I'm running Lion fine on my 2008 MBP (4,1. 2.4GHz C2D, 4GB) and late 2009 Mini (2.0GHz C2D, 8GB.)  Minimum RAM for Lion is 2GB, but IMHO you really want 4GB.  If you have a lot of apps open (or have demanding apps like Photoshop,) then get more RAM if you machine can handle it.
Also, make sure the rest of your apps or drivers are up to date before upgrading.  Incompatible drivers for things like printers and such are what I've found to cause a lot of stability problems.

You cannot use Lion until you have upgraded to 10.6.8:
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
You received a coupon you can use and redeem on the App Store to download Lion. There is no App Store in Leopard.

  • OSX Lion re-download

OSX Lion will be available only in the mac App Store and it can be redownloaded to multiple macs.
I know that this is possible with songs but if for example, I bought lion and want to share it with another person. Can I just log in to mac app store in their mac and re-download OSX Lion from there? and once Lion is fully downloaded in their mac, can I log out from the mac app store without losing the download?
This is just out of curiosity, I know that some people are trying to get their friends to sync their songs in their ipod, but will this work with apps in mac?

Did both of you read the part "this is just out of curiosity," I am totally against this also. It is only a reference for anyone who tries to google this question.
The price of $29.99 is a deal, given that for it's price you can buy 4 windows 7 home premium softwares. I hope by it's launch apple will patch up some bugs to prevent people to share macapps, because it is unfair for us who pay for the apps.

  • Can't open or download on my macbook air

I can't view or download docs from oracle on my Mac Book Pro

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it.

  • Can OS Lion run on my 2008 MacBook?

If so, should I upgrade my memory? Any help is appreciated. Thank You, EW

I don't know what processor is in a 2008 MacBook, but I would imagine it is at least a core 2 duo. More memory is always better.
Hold down the Option key and click on the Apple Menu. Select System Profiler…
If it is not already selected, select Hardware from the list on the left.
The info panel will show what processor you have and how much memory you have.
    Here are the Lion Requirements:

Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory

  • I downloaded OSX Lion and lost access to my Microsoft office programs.  How do I get them back?

I just purchased OSX Lion and downloaded the file.  I now can not access my microsoft office programs.  This is not something I was warned about by the team in the Apple Store at all.  Is there a way to recover these programs? ( Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Do you have Office 2004 or earlier? If so, you'll need to upgrade to a more recent version. Office 2004 is a PowerPC application, and requires Rosetta to run on an Intel Mac. Rosetta isn't included in Lion, so Lion won't run PowerPC apps.
One suggestion I've seen is to put two partitions on your hard drive, with one running Snow Leopard and the other running Lion. Any PowerPC apps would be installed on the Snow Leopard partition, and Universal or Intel apps would be installed on the Lion partition.
If your version of Office is the Intel version, I don't know what to tell you. Hope this helps.

  • MacBook Pro not charging after OSX Lion 10.7.2 upgrade

After making the upgrade to OSx Lion 10.7.2 my MacBook Pro 2011 (2 months old) does not charge anymore, before worked perfectly.
Magsafe led was off, and battery indicator said power source is not connected. After the battery drained to empty, the magsafe turned on, but goes green to orange to off in cycles. During the cycles, the battery indicator was cycling also from calculating, not charging, etc. and the display was dimming like if I was plugin in and plugin off the magsafe connector. After having the computer connected during all night, now is charged but magsafe does not charge anymore.
I tried the SMC reset and chacked that firmware is up to date. Any clues of what is going on?

Thanks a lot for replying, but what exactly does the istat widget program do?
Also, the fan noise seems like a normal noise every time I launch a program, but it's getting to the point where I am frustrated(annoyed) of the fan noise. I would've thought that upgrading to a Mac book would cause less fan noise because of it's high processor. Sometimes I feel like I should go back to a Dell or HP because of this problem, but at the same time, I love my laptop. ;)

  • Do you get final cut pro with osx lion

I have Snow Leopard and I want to upgrade to OSX Lion. I have seen how much all of the new applications cost separately and was wonder if you get them all in OSX Lion when downloaded. If you did you would save a lot of money!!
    Thanks, please answer.

No, you do not get FCP with Lion, I'm afraid.
All the major apps like FCP, Pages, Numbers etc you have to buy unless you already own them from a previous OS X installation, in which case they will, in most cases, all continue to work. You can check which of your existing apps will/won't work on OS X Lion here:

  • How do I turn off autosave osx lion

How do I turn off autosave on osx lion? Just got new MacBook pro & autosave crashes Photoshop adobe when I'm doing large format design! This is a designers worst nightmare having autosave. Because you can do some work, then change your mind , but it's too late, autosave has saved over your work! Great for small files like text, but design large files? If you can't turn off autosave then apple can kiss goodbye to all it's design clients which is alot of there buyers I would imagine. Can you turn it off please help?

I have no way of knowing what Apple will do in the future. You can certainly report you wishes at
    Apple Feedback.
As for "oversight," I'd say it was yours, not Apple's. Should have done a little more research before you purchased. This "issue" is nothing new.

  • Where can I get the Boot Disk for my macbook pro? Downloading OSX Lion is taking too long

I got a macbook pro that was owned by someone for a few days before. I tried to restore to factory setting but now downloading OSX Lion is taking forever with my internet connection. Can anyone help me find a boot Disk to speed up the process?

Apple no longer sells a Lion installation USB flash drive (they did at one time). SO you'll just have to wait for the download to complete. It's best to 'hard-wire' the download - not over wifi but with an Ethernet cable connected directly to your router. That will gain you some speed.
You could also try taking your MBP to a friend's home where they may have a faster Internet service. My download speed is 22+Mbps with my cable company - you may have a friend or neighbor who has something similar? Of course, you are always at the mercy of Apple's servers - sometimes they're just overloaded and a download that should take 20 minutes can take up to an hour and one-half.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
