Can Photoshop CS6 automatically reopen previously open files on Mountain Lion?

Mac OS X 10.8 introduced a new behavior - apps could automatically open the documents that were open in the last app execution.
Can Photoshop CS6 be configured to behave this way?

David,
How about Chrome, bbedit (even back to version 9.1.1), PixelMator, others, none of which are 'Apple Apps'.
The Resume and Autosave APIs have been around since 10.7 (2011).
Maybe if Adobe wasn't so busy trying to shove us all into a rental model they'd have time to consider implementing OS APIs that have existed for more than 2 years.

  • Photoshop CS6 (Mac) crashes when opening files with type or using the type tool

    Hi,
Photoshop CS6 keeps crashing when using the type tool or when opening files with type on it. I've quit suitcase, disabled the suitcase plug-in, reset the preferences in Photoshop there's no crash report coming up either the application just dies! I am currently trying a system restore from time machine to see if that works!. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks

  • Can't install any .PKG or .MPKG files with Mountain Lion.

Some weeks ago I found out, that I can't install anymore any programmes that are packed in .PKG or .MPKG files.
Whenever I double click one of theese files, or when I try the "open with" option, I get a system response from TextEdit.App . . .
I tried already some of the advices mentioned in the community forum, but nothing worked so far.
Latest thing I tried was to re-associate these two file types with the Installer - but I couldn't find it anywhere.
I've got an iMac27, late 2009, 16GB RAM, equipped with the latest version of Mountain Lion.
Hope, you can help me - there are some updates (MS Office, MyTomTom, Logitech drivers, ...) that need to be installed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dirk.

    I would go thus;
    1. Back up, preferably using bootable and verified clone(s).
    2. Boot into recovery and repair permissions/disc.
    3. Apply combo updater if step 2 was unsuccessful. (The link I have posted assumes you are running 10.7.3 as per your signature).

  • Can Photoshop CS6 Extended save uncompressed DICOM files?

In CS4 and CS5 Extended layered documents saved as DICOM (.dcm) were uncompressed and could be opened in another imaging program that I use frequently (ImageJ) without complaint. It appears that CS6 Extended saves DICOM files in a compressed format which cannot be directly opened in ImageJ and, as I recall, some other DICOM viewers.
Does anyone know if there is a way to change to uncompressed DICOM saves? I've looked for save options, but cannot see anything relevant.

Monitor the file I/O with tools like Sysinternals' System Monitor and check what's causing the problem. Could be a mundane permissions problem with your temporary folders or otehr resource problem.

  • Problem with Photoshop CS6. If I open a file using Camera RAW

I have a new problem with Photoshop CS6.  If I open a file using Camera RAW, and process it as usual, CS6 doesn't want to save it the way it used to.  I don't know if I changed something by accident or not.
Here's what happens now: After opening from ACR to CS6 and completinhg all of my work, I choose "Save as..."  The save as window opens showing the file name and format.  The default format seems to be .PSD.  I use the drop down to select .jpg.  The file saves normally as a .jpg.  When I go to close the image from, I get a new prompt asking, "Save changes to Adobe Photoshop document DSC_xxxx.NEF before closing?
I looked up at the file name in the bar above the work space and noticed that it does NOT change from "DSC_xxxx.NEF" to "DSC_xxxx.jpg" after I have saved the file as a .jpg,in my webesite  but it always used to do that.  This adds a few extra steps when closing a document and it really slows me down.
In fact, I wouldn't swear to this, but I think it used to save to .jpg by default, without me specifying this.
I don't see a setting in the preferences for what to use as the default file format for saving, so I don't know where to change it back.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

  • Unable to open photoshop cs6 jpeg, tiff, and psd files from my retina MacBook Pro on a Windows PC?

Im looking for a way to save or convert photoshop cs6 apple retina display formated files to be available to open on Windows PC's?

I doubt you need anything special. The files should open without conversion. You can double check with Adobe.

  • CS6, how do I open files in Bridge directly into Photoshop? [was: Stan Spur]

CS6, how do I open files in Bridge directly into Photoshop. The default is File Viewer or there is an option to open in Adobe RAW.

Look at the down pointing arrow to the right of Photoshop CC in the list. Clicking on it shows a list of programs to select from.
Windows OS level or "in Windows" as opposed to "in Bridge".

Wanting to use Photoshop CS6 to open images directly from iPhoto 11.
Using OSX10.8.2 and iPhoto 11.  Just installed Photoshop CS6 and want to open
images directly from iPhoto.    Before I installed PS I was not able to edit photos
in iPhoto 11.  Nothing happens when I click on ‘edit‘ it is blank.
And now it will not work using Photoshop CS6 either.
From Help Center I have gone to iPhoto/Preferences/ Advanced and chosen Photoshop CS6  to Edit Photos but then cannot find an 'Open' to click? Perhaps this is the problem?
When I select a photo in iPhoto and click the Edit button - nothing happens.
    Please advise. Glenys

This may be of help to you:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Saving a Photoshop CC project from a Mac (in .PSD format) to a thumb drive and trying to transfer it to a Dell laptop with Photoshop CS6.  Will not open...Error message: could not complete your request because it is not a valid photoshop document.

Saving a Photoshop CC project from a Mac (in .PSD format) to a thumb drive and trying to transfer it to a Dell laptop with Photoshop CS6.  Will not open...Error message: could not complete your request because it is not a valid photoshop document.

The file was corrupted somewhere along the way (assuming it was still readable on the Macintosh).
The platforms don't matter, but you still need file transfer that doesn't corrupt files...

  • Does Photoshop CS6 support Nikon D810 raw files?

Does Photoshop CS6 support Nikon D810 raw files? Photoshop won't allow me to open the raw files and Bridge won't display the files either. I tried to download the camera raw plug-in 8.6 but read somewhere that Photoshop CS6 doesn't support it? HELP!!!

It should. The D810 had support since version 8.6. (A relative newcomer.) Did you use Help > Updates on the menu bar?
Take note that the updates for Camera Raw in CS6 only supports updates for cameras and nothing more. You won't get any of the new features inherent in the versions for Photoshop CC (like the filter brush in the Graduated Filter).

  • Just starting to use InDesign CS2 and can't pull up my previous Pagemaker files; what do I do?

Just starting to use InDesign CS2 and can't pull up my previous Pagemaker files; says "damaged and cannot be recovered"
    How can I retrieve those?

I have no idea what "diagnostic recompose" is...
Step 3 in this linked technote will show you how to do a diagnostic recompose - on a Mac. Instructions for doing it on Windows are out there somewhere, I'll try to find 'em if you can't. The technote tells you to remove graphics from master pages; I'd also unembed graphics (make sure all graphics are linked, not stored in the PageMaker doc) in order to try to get it to open up in ID.
I'm sure there are more things you can try, if that doesn't work, but my broken-PageMaker-doc skills are pretty rusty.
Also, you may want to edit your response on the forums webpage, and delete it from your future email-replies, so your email address and phone number aren't preserved for all to see on the forums, forever.
Edit: Step 3, not step 4
