Can picture resolution be corrected?

I download pictures from the Internet to make cd covers for music. Yet on my new iMac 24" screen, when I load the pics into iPhoto, the pictures are always distorted when I try to view them or use them as part of a screen saver. Can this be corrected? I have close to 2,000 pics that do view correctly, but they were imported into my iMac from my Windows computer when I changed over. I just have not been able to successfully download pics from the Internet and view them on my iMac. Any help would be great.

What do you mean by distorted? Do you mean pixelated? Something like this to some extent? What are the pixel dimension of the photos you're having problems with? They may not be big enough to work as a screensaver without pixelation.
If that's the case there's nothing you can do.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

The video/audio display settings should set automatically for the best your TV can handle (720p AppleTV2, 1080p AppleTV3).
The download resolution for rentals or playback of purchases from the cloud is set in settings for iTunes store.
Sounds as though you have slow internet. For near instant streaming of video from iTunes store you need around:
Standard Definition     2.5 Mbps
720p HD                    6 Mbps
1080p HD                  8 Mbps
Any slower for a given quality setting and the movie has to buffer as it can't keep up in real time. This might be a few minutes if close to the rated speed or many hours, even overnight.
As pcd251s suggests you could test internet speed (speedtest.net on a computer for example). If that is fine, sometimes the LAN if on wifi can be extremely slow in certain locations - ethernet connections would troubleshoot that.
Slow internet is the common issue here. AppleTV does not have permanent storage and using it to play other content or browse trailers while a rental is buffering can reset the buffering process.   In such cases you might be better off planning in advance, renting in iTunes, letting the whole thing FULLY download and it will then be available across teh LAN to stream from computer to AppleTV under Computers>iTunes library name>Rentals.

In Elements 8 if I create a Photobook how can I maintain picture resolution?

If I create a Photobook in PSE8, the picture resolution is reduced by PSE so that the resulting print is of poor quality. Is there anyway that I can get around this and/or is this different in PSE9?

IPhoto Picture Resolution Sizes.

I am wondering if someone can help?
Is it posible for a picture resolution to reduce when stored in iPhoto,either by diliberate means or otherwise?
When reviewing my photos I feel they have smaller resolutions than when downloaded from the camera.
Could this be possible?

Thumbnails will be 360 x 270 pixels in size and you can check that right in iPhoto's Info pane at the bottom of the Source window.

I heard back from Nike+ support and they said that there will be newer pics soon and it also appears that this corrected itself for my runs, but not the user pic, I only get girly options, I wouldn't mind a picture of a guy on 'ROIDS!!! When you email a picture from Photos, you can choose the size.

Reduce pages file size while maintain picture resolution

How do you have a small pages file size - <10mb - and still have a high resolution of my pictures in the doc

The two are rather mutually exclusive.
Quality, Number , Size - pick 2.
You have not told us how many images, how large in dimensions and whether you are going to commercial print or convert it to pdf and email/post it.
So it is hard to know the target.
You can trim away the unmasked portions of the images in Preview and bring them back into Pages.
You can ensure there is exactly the resolution you need in final size in the document, 150dpi for HG pdf for screen, or 300 dpi for print. Preview can adjust resolution.
If this is meant for screen and not print you can resave the images as jpegs as lower quality in Preview. Be aware that this is a compromise, smaller size is lower quality and ultimately noticeable. The process is lossy.
Vector (drawn) objects remain sharp and are very small compared to bitmap images, so use pdf or font graphics where possible.

Is there a way to change a pictures resolution in iPhoto? So far, I have been opening the photo in Photoshop to decrease the resolution. My image files are too big after importing them. I know I can change the settings in my camera, but for the pictures already taken.

I just posted a ? which I think is similar to yours... If you go into "Export" you can pick the size of sending photos to another folder on your computer. jpg, tiff etc, plus if you wish to post them on a website you can also change the pixel size to make sure they are small and not able to be duplicated. However, once they are exported, the photos cannot be used by Pages, iMovie etc until they are re-imported.
I am hoping that in the next 'upgrade' something will be added to make iPhot even more savy for us RAW pic people.

I am trying to take RMAN backup from EM. I changed 'system' and 'sys' user passwords in EM after login in as system as normal user. But even then can not connect.

How can I display JTextFields correctly on a JPanel using GridBagLayout?

I had some inputfields on a JPanel using the boxLayout. All was ok. Then I decided to change the panellayout to GridBagLayout. The JLabel fields are displayed correctly but the JTextField aren't. They are at the JPanel but have a size of 0??? So we cannot see what we type in these fields... Even when I put some text in the field before putting it on the panel.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone (if you're using iOS 7), then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).
