Can play videos on TV but not photos

Using Apple's AV Cable, I could play all videos on TV. But cannot play photos. TV setting is on. But no show on TV. Anyone experiencing this problem ?

I was having the same problem and called Apple. I even explained everything I was doing, but they couldn't help me beyond the usual reset and restore procedures. These didn't help. The case was finally sent to engineering to see if they can reproduce it and that's where it stands today.
Then I figured it out... Visualamit had the correct answer, and maybe the comment wasn't clear enough.
The problem is really one of user interface. To play videos (once the Video Out is set to On), one can select a video and then press the center button or the Play button and the same thing happens: The video plays with text and a fixed image on the iPod, and the video plays on the Video Out.
Under Photos, however, it's different. What I was doing was going into Photos and selecting an album to get thumbnails, then selecting a picture using the center button to make it full screen and navigating "slides" from there. This is different from pressing Play at the album or thumbnail level. Using the center button *does not* send the images to the video out even when Video Out is turned on.
To get the photos to play on the Video Out, one must use the PLAY button either at the album or thumbnail menu levels. Only then will the photos be displayed on the Video Out with transitions, with a slideshow navigation screen on the iPod.
I suggest that this is a user interface design error. The intuitive option would be to provide video out for photos under both full screen display options options (the center button and Play) like it does under the Videos.
Hope that solves this problem for a few people, and I hope Apple will consider activating video out for photos using both the center button and Play!

Here's an update/fix if anyone is reading this at all (since I got absolutely NO response and was ready to toss JMF for good)
Installing Windows Media Player seems to have fixed my problem. I still don't understand why since I could play videos in JMStudio before I installed WMP.

If you don't have a problem with using VLC, you can set it up to serve over a UDP port. On your video server run
vlc --sout udp:192.168.<machinewith.videoplayer>
you can pick videos from within vlc i think. if you wanna run it from the command line (your server has no X or you wanna run it from your remote machine through ssh with no -X) add
-I curses
as an option, or just list the video files or playlist in the command line.
To open your stream on the other box, run
vlc udp:192.168.<video.server>
See if that suits your needs.
EDIT: You might also have some luck mounting the remote drive with sshfs.

Can play video on chrome but not on firefox?

Hi, I am having some problems with video playback on my windows xp laptop. I am trying to watch a tv series that I believe is a shockwave based video. I can watch it fine on chrome (though it stalls a lot), but on firefox, all I can see is the "ocean clip" (you know, the one with the birds diving down to catch fish, and the whales and all that, i believe it is some sort of demo video for shockwave).
At first I thought it was because windows xp is too old of an os. However, I have no problems seeing the video using firefox on another machine that also runs windows xp. I have tried updating flash player and shockwave player to the newest version, and disable adblock to no avails. I am really baffled and hope for your assistance. Composite AV Cable will play video and audio, but not music

I just bought an Apple Composite AV Cable to use with my iPod touch 3rd gen. It will play videos and the accompanying audio through the TV with no problems, but it will not play just music. What's the deal?

No. However, you can get a cable from the headphone jack to an audio input for your TV.

Did you upload the SWF as well as the FLV and HTML?
Is the server set up to serve up FLV files. There is a MIME-TYPE that does this in the server configuration. Ask the person who handles the server if you do not.

I've searched and searched, and although there are similar threads to my problem, I couldn't find an answer; although I have to confess some posts were a bit technical for me! Here's my problem
My podcasts have worked brilliantly for years. Now, seemingly for no good reason, I haven't been able to sync any for about a month. The latest episodes appear in I tunes library; with an exclamation mark to the left, greyed-out and with a cloud download icon to the right. Indeed if you click on the cloud icon you can play that epsiode on the PC. I presume I've got the latest I tunes and I have my good old i-phone 3. I only sync by wiring my phone to my PC.
No amount of clicking, head scratching and phoning my IT mate gets me any further. My son keeps looking concerned and saying 'whats wrong' as I growl at the computer in annoyance!
Please help me and my wife (her phone has gone the same way!)

I don't if its permissable....but I think Ive solved my own problem. By getting the 'downcast' app from the app store on my phone I can circumvent the I tunes glitch and get my podcasts through that.

I guess to be more specific. I'm signed into iTunes, I can play my usual games,online included. What it won't allow me to do now is update or download new apps. Just says waiting and never goes. I shut the iPad down and restart it, and a message will pop up saying all the game names cannot update at this time , blah blah blah.... What's going on and how do I fix this?

I can send video to IDVD but not audio...

I shot it on my video camera, imported with Imovie, sent it to garageband to add chapters (markers) and then sent it to IDVD for burning. Am I needing to check some audio button or something? The dvd burns fine but no audio.

Xvid/Divx are output files, not meant to be edited (variations of the MPEG4 codec, often used for Internet streaming video) so, they mostly do NOT edit well (if at all) in any flavor of Premiere

Actually, i figured part of it out. When I'm playing itunes to my Apple Tv and Airport Express stations around the house, then turn on the mirroring, the itunes volume bar goes all the way to zero. I can bring it back up manually, and it will play on Apple TV, but it won't broadcast to multiple Airport Express speakers, the way it was doing before I turned on mirroring. It seems that mirroring turns off the airport express stations.
