  • Parameters Forwarded to Web Dynpro

Our portal is integrated with ERP system. We transfer roles from this system to the portal (New - From Backend System) and some iViews are generated automatically for menu items (they are placed in Migrated Content). If I add application parameters in menu item in ERP system - they are finely transferred to Application Parameters in iView.
And I need the same functionality for field "Parameters Forwarded to Web Dynpro" in iView. How to fill it from role? Our somehow else?
    Generous reward for help

    Hi Johnny,
If you know where the roles and iViews are in the pcd you can just use the content administration to open the WD application page and those iViews will have the property "Parameters Forwarded to Web Dynpro"
    Hope I understood you correctly.

if you want to see date calender help in your view, you have to add an input field in the view and bind it with a context attribute of type dats.

  • How can I convert my Web Dynpro Application to Web Dynpro with GP Interface

    Hi experts
I am trying to make my Web Dynrpo Application implement GP interface.
    I encountered a question .
when I added GP interface controller, "Window" component also added automatically.
But I have already had  a "Window" componet which contains alot of View settings.
Do I have to Use newly added GP "Window" component?
if  so, do I have to recreate "Window" Componet whenever I convert to my web dynpro application implementing GP interface ?
    Thanks in advance

Yes you have to use the automatically added window.

  • Deploying my first web dynpro java application through NWDS 7.3 giving error

    hi all,
i am new to webdynpro java. i am basically a xi consultant, but due to some work need to work on webdynpro java as well.
i went through the blog Web Dynpro Tutorial: Hello World
    i am using NWDS 7.3
i created web dynpro project as per above blog. on the last step, it says to deploy it on SAP system.
now i have access to PI7.1 system only, though in our landscape, we have ECC system, EP system, BI system etc.
i guess the above webpage is referring to getting it deployed on EP system - but i have access to only PI7.1 system - in NWDS 7.3 in window - preferences - SAP AS Java - i have added PI7.1 system and it is showing there.
now on right-clicking web dynpro application, and selecting deploy new archive and run - it is not deploying and the web-page gives error 404 - not found. The requested resource does not exist.
can the web dynpro application be deployed on PI7.1 system?
pls suggest how to resolve this error. thanks.

i have downloaded NWDS7.1 through this link
    https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/ce/
used the first option - Download latest NWDS_platform.zip release
    the zip file got downloaded.
on trying to install through IDEsetup.exe - now i am getting error in installation - The installer cannot run in the 32-bit sub-system on a 64-bit architecture.
how to solve this error - i tried installing jdk-6u7-windows-x64.exe and jdk-6u18-windows-x64.exe - but still the error remains same.
So how to install NWDS7.1 on my system? please tell. thanks.

  • Can Write Full business logic in web Dynpro ?

    Hi All
We are developing many Iviews with WebDynpro and

Can we write in Web Dynpro ? Any issues on this ?
Any one can help me on this pl
    regards
    rakesh

At a purely technical level, then you can of course write business login in Web Dynpro - after all, it is still just Java (or ABAP). The real question here is whether that is a good idea.
I think that Web Dynpro works best as a presentation and application-flow framework - actual business logic is best implemented in another layer. This can be done in EJBs in Java, but in most SAP landscapes my experience is that the business logic layer is best implemented in ABAP, since the ABAP back-end is most naturally the place where all business logic exists. Of course, if you only have Java developers and you are using Java Web Dynpro, then an EJB-based business logic layer may be more comfortable to implement.
    Hope this helps,
    Darren

Further to what Faraz has said, Web Dynpro can be seen as an implementation of the Framework pattern.
Essentially you write normal Java code with access to various Java objects exposed/generated by the Web Dynpro Framework inside "hook" functions.
The Web Dynpro framework then calls your functions at various stages when the page renders and when actions are triggered.
For a high level understanding of this, not specific to Web Dynpro, research the concept of OO Frameworks pattersn.
    for example [Article explaining frameworks|http://www.cs.wustl.edu/~schmidt/CACM-frameworks.html]
Here is an excerpt from the above article which highlights the major points
The primary benefits of OO application frameworks stem from the modularity, reusability, extensibility, and inversion of control they provide to developers, as described below:
Modularity -- Frameworks enhance modularity by encapsulating volatile implementation details behind stable interfaces. Framework modularity helps improve software quality by localizing the impact of design and implementation changes. This localization reduces the effort required to understand and maintain existing software.
Reusability -- The stable interfaces provided by frameworks enhance reusability by defining generic components that can be reapplied to create new applications. Framework reusability leverages the domain knowledge and prior effort of experienced developers in order to avoid re-creating and re-validating common solutions to recurring application requirements and software design challenges. Reuse of framework components can yield substantial improvements in programmer productivity, as well as enhance the quality, performance, reliability and interoperability of software.
Extensibility -- A framework enhances extensibility by providing explicit hook methods that allow applications to extend its stable interfaces. Hook methods systematically decouple the stable interfaces and behaviors of an application domain from the variations required by instantiations of an application in a particular context. Framework extensibility is essential to ensure timely customization of new application services and features.

  • Adding a field in Web dynpro java in Travel Request application

    Hi All,
How to add a field in Web dynpro java in Travel Request application or can we copy the Web dynpro java application to Web dynpro ABAP and add a field. Experts, Can you please suggest me step by step in resolving the problem.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
First, in order to customise the ESS webdynpro Java iViews you need to be aware that, you are about to change the SAP standard iviews. In order to avoid this you can make a copy of the SAP standard one's and then try to customise the copied one's.
Now, you should have NetWeaver Development Infrastructure(NWDI) installed. Once it is installed you should also install the Netweaver Developer Studio (NWDS) on your computer.
Once you have these two installed, you should deploy the ESS Business Package onto the NWDI by creating tracks. There is a cookbook available on SAP Service Marketplace for configuring NWDI for ESS.
Once you have all the above mentioned tools, have a look at the following blog which clearly explains about the procedure of customising ESS iviews.
    /people/vinoth.murugaiyan/blog/2007/08/24/essmss-customization-150-make-it-simple
Also check the following Wiki, this might be useful!
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/erphcm/employee%252bself%252bservice
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any issues.
Dont forgett to contribute points if this is useful! All the Best.

  • Smartform in web dynpro Abap

    Hi,
I'm trying to implement a web dynpro abap with a smartform.
I used the "How to Display a Smartform as PDF document in Web Dynpro for ABAP" document that e can find on sdn.
My problem is that when the form is called, there is  a dump
"Please maintain an output device in your user master data. ".
I copied  the code in a report and the form is displayed.
    Did I miss something?
    Kr
    Karim

This workaround solution for smartForms sends the output to the Spool and then converts the spool to PDF.  For it to work it has to have a printer id for the formatting to the spool. You must maintain a default printer in your user ID or pass in a printer into the output settings of the smartForms function module. Because all of this is occuring in the background, the smartForms function modules can't just popup a dialog asking for a printer.
