Can Portal 6.0 SP2 upgrade to EP 2004 with R/3 base release stay at 4.6C ?

Hi, portal experts,
We have EP 6.0 SP2 working well with R/3 base release at 4.6C. Now we
are wondering whether we can upgrade EP 6.0 SP2 alone. In other words, can we
leave R/3 as it is (4.6C), and upgrade only EP 6.0 SP 2 to EP 2004 ?
In general, can portal upgrade be totally independent of R/3 or BW ?
I think so. But I need proof from SAP docs or notes. Could you give some insights ?
Critically, could you list SAP URL and official docs to support your arguments ?

Hi Hans,
the official place for you to look at is the <a href="http://service.sap.com/pam">"Product Availability Matrix" (PAM)</a> or some notes which are hidden somewhere in the huge attic of SAP notes
Generally there are no dependecies between R/3, BW and EP.
For your R/3 4.6C there are no dependecies in any way.
As long as you "only" integrate web frontends (like WebGui or BSPs) you can have whatever you want versions. But when it comes to the newest releases some of the features like e.g. BW's broadcasting are only supported when BI and EP are both version 7.0!

Why can't I print after upgrading to Mountain Lion with my Canon MF4450?

I've upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion and now I can't print with my Canon MF4450.
I've already downloaded the new updated drivers from Canon's website and installed them. I've even tried uninstalling the old printer drivers, completely deleting the printer, and re-installing the printer again.
Strange thing is, this doesn't happen with ALL apps. For example, when I use Preview app to print, it hangs and I have to force close the app. If I use TextEdit app to print, it hangs as well. Same thing occurs with Notes app. There's no error messages, it just freezes and hangs until I force it to quit. However, after I force the app to quit, I get asked if I want to report the issue to Apple. Here's the details from that error:

Can I download the full upgrade to 3.5 with no ver 2 software installed?

I just requested the licence number before my express 2 ships out. Can I install ungrade to 3.5 with only the licence of version 2 and not the actual software installed?

Don't bother to install FCE 2.
The FCE 3.5 Upgrade is really the FULL Retail version with one tiny difference - it will ask you for the serial number of your FCE 2.
Also it comes on 3 full DVDs not a CD.

Can't install XP SP2 with my KT4AV

I'm having trouble installing XP SP2 Upgrade (from win 2k) with my KT4AV motherboard.
I get to a point where setup is coping files from the CD (after first reboot) and it asks for VIAIDE.SYS. I can browse to the file on the CD (or the HD) and hit OK. The system then brings up the following dialog box.

I have tried both options and have the same ultimate results. If I say no it generates a infobox saying I quit and then reboots back into the XP setup looking for the viaide.sys file. If I say yes it the screen flashes and the system reboots to the same place….Darned it I do darned if I don’t.
Where do I go from here?

In general, you can only roll back an upgrade to a library with a back up. No back up, no roll back.

Can Portal 3.0 and 8i/9i Database Software exist on same Machine?

Our current setup at work is webdb 2.1 and Oracle EE 8.0.5 residing on ONE physical server.
(Sun Solaris)I need to upgrade the Software to Oracle EE 8.1.7 and Portal 3.0. We do not run Webdb as part of an internet or intranet site(These are controled by other departments)We use these products so a small number of users (9-30) can easily access a data warehouse via a browser. I will never get the funding for a 2nd Physical machine to act as as application server. I am hoping I am confused but can Portal 3.0 and 8i/9i Datbase software be installed on the same physical machine? I was led to believe that 9i Application Server Software can not be installed on the same machine as the 8i/9i
database.Why do I need application server software or the 9iAS http listener when Oracle 8.1.7 comes with an inbuilt http listener?
If we have to have a 2nd physical machine,
management will pull the plug on Oracle and will go with another vedor solution. I don't want to loose my Oracle SQL skills, can someone please help!

I've installed Portal 3 (production) and database 8.1.7 on one machine running Windows 2000 and 99% works fine.
The procedure is:
1) Install the database from operating user X in Oracle-home A
2) Turn off the http-listener for the database.
3) Install iAS from os-user Y in Oracle-home B.
If you do not use separate users or use database 8.1.6 or earlier, you get problems with the java-patchs and libraries.
By the way - it is NOT possible to install a development environment (Designer 6/6i, Developer 6i, Discoverer 3.1) on that same machine. Cause is that ias9i installs Developer 6i patch 2 (runtime) and that version doesn't operate against the latest available development patches. So, I think in your case you have to install the development software on the clientmachines.

Oracle Portal not working after upgrading from 1.0.2 to 1.0.2.1

Previously I had
9iAS : 1.0.2.0.0
Portal: 3.0.7.6.2
OS: Win NT
and I upgraded to
9iAS: 1.0.2.1.0
Portal: 3.0.8 (using scripts)
Now the scenario is
I can access: Apache, Servlet(IsItWorking) and JSP samples. But now I can't access Oracle portal (ie http://host:port/pls/portal30/). Even Login Server is coming properly (ie http://host:port/pls/portal30_sso/)
There was no errors during upgrade scripts. Also I check the portal30 schema for invalid objects. But there were no invalid objects in that schema.
According to me, all the modules of apache are working only except mod plsql and so i can not access Portal. It gives misconfiguration error from apache. So what can be the problem??
Any ideas in this.

There was an issue reported on this upgrade having to do with multiple entries in the Apache configuration files. Check your .conf files for duplicate entries.

ES SP2 Upgrade Breaks XML in Submitted Forms

I've just installed the SP2 upgrade for LC ES - after 5 tries over 2 days...
Now it all *seems* to be working OK - checked version numbers etc - and I can access my processes and forms via Workspace.
However when I try to Submit any Form the server throws a - "com.adobe.idp.taskmanager.dsc.client.task.ActivePrincipalNotFoundException: Assignment to XPath was specified with the following expression: /process_data/formVariable/object/data/xdp/datasets/data/form1/workflowDetails/nextRecipi ent, but this expression did not evaluate to anything.
Looking further into this the Form's XML data is there when the form is initially rendered (the PrePopRender 'User Details' are showing correctly), but after the Form is submitted the XML data is not there - hence why my XPath Next User Selection fails.
I've tried setting the Next User Selection to a fixed User ID, but then the WorkFlowState variable setting fails in the Workflow - so the Form XML is definitely totally stuffed :-(
I've tried re-importing the formTemplate and re-setting the Form Data Schema etc - but nothing works.
Has anyone else had a similar issue with ES SP2 and if so got any suggestions for a fix ?

In the course of building a simplified process to send to otsupport I have discovered why SP2 breaks our process xml data mapping in our processes.
Most of our processes use 2 form variables (one to start the process then one, or more, dependent on the initial forms content) that run through the rest of the process - e.g. we use different templates in the process for different originator/request types etc, but capture the initial data from a number of single templates to simplify the 'user experience' and reduce number of front end form versions.
In this type of workflow the SP2 xml error issue is caused by the following -
In 8.0.1 (our current version) to copy the initial form variable data to the process form variable we have to copy across the 'form1' variable values to the 'data' node using the following -
/process_data/formVariable/object/data/xdp/datasets/data = /process_data/formVariable/object/data/xdp/datasets/data/form1
Although this is strictly wrong - if you assigned the ...data/form1 = ...data/form1 mapping then you got a 2nd form1 element nested in the 1st one in the 2nd form template xml data - so this did not work.
In SP2 you now have to correctly assign the form variables data as follows -
/process_data/formVariable/object/data/xdp/datasets/data/form1 = /process_data/formVariable/object/data/xdp/datasets/data/form1
So I guess you can say that SP2 has fixed a deficiency in 8.0.1 - but having wasted 4 solid days tracking this down I think it would be nice to have noted this 'change' somewhere in the SP2 installation notes :-(
If it is included in any of the SP2 documentation then please let me know so I can pass it on.

I would try www.Crucial.com for suggested memory ,you can use their Scanner Tool to let it detect what you have and what you can upgrade/replace with.
